范畴理论是认知语言学的基础理论。认知语言学的范畴理论包括原型范畴理论和范畴层级理论。范畴的最典型的成员就是原型,范畴包括有基本层级范畴,上位范畴和下属范畴。范畴化具有认知功能,认知语言学的范畴理论有助于分析和确定词语语义。
