字去而意留 辞殊而意显——谈译文字词的增删和细节处理

译者对译文字词进行增删调整自古就有。印度学者柏乐天（P．Pradhan）和我国学者张建木所总结的玄奘运用的翻译技巧中就包括“补充法”、“省略法”和“代词还原法”等等。但在“等值”理论流行的上世纪80年代，有学者对这些在实践中行之有效的方法提出了质疑。加之有的译者在运用这些方法时未能把握好尺度，故有人曾将这些方法称之为不足为法的“未为定法之法”。翻译学的文化转向拓宽了翻译研究的视野，中外学者在研究译文文本在目的语文化系统中的接受情况时，越来越关注译文文本在目的语文化系统中的作用和功能，从而为上述翻译方法提供了理论依据。
