In order to improve the measurement accuracy of the wind tunnel balance, a great deal of investigation is carried out in China. This paper summarizes a program to improve the measurement accuracy of wind tunnel balances. In the program, the investigation is carried out in three aspects (1) designing a drag component of the balance in low interactions (2) choosing high quality foil strain gauges with temperature self-compensation (3) choosing the excellent gauges and mounting them meticulously. As an example, these research achievements are applied in a φ18 six component balance. The measurement accuracy of a GB-04 standard model in a transonic wind tunnel with the φ18 six component balance comes up to the advanced world standard.展开更多

The blood cells were labelled with sodium pertechnetate and fixed in 1 0%formalin; they were 22 × 15 μm in size and had a specific gravity close to that of dog red blood cells. These cells had no discernible effect on systemic hemodynamics after injection, did not agglutinate, were well mixed and evenly distributed throughout the body, and were completely extracted in one circulation through the mandible. The mandibular ramus was divided into six regions. and the blood flow rates in each were found to be similar to those reported in previous studies with radiolabelled carbonized, microspheres. Furthermore, the blood flow distribution pattern of the mandibular ramus determined in this study was identical to that of our previous study using the bone-seeking radionuclide method. We suggest that radiolabelled toad red blood cells are an ideal marker for measuring regional blood flow in the canine mandible.展开更多

In the rotational shearing tests, the principal stress axes rotate cyclically with the magnitudes of the principal stresses keeping constant. The anisotropy of the reconstituted clay is analyzed from the monotonic shearing tests. Obvious pore pressure is induced by the principal stress rotation alone even with shear stress q0=5 k Pa. Strain components also accumulate with increasing the number of cycles and increases suddenly at the onset of failure. The deviatoric shear strain of 7.5% can be taken as the failure criterion for clay subjected to the pure cyclic principal stress rotation. The intermediate principal stress parameter b plays a significant role in the development of pore pressure and strain. Specimens are weakened by cyclic rotational shearing as the shear modulus decreases with increasing the number of cycles, and the shear modulus reduces more quickly with larger b. Clear deviation between the directions of the principal plastic strain increment and the principal stress is observed during pure principal stress rotation. Both the coaxial and non-coaxial plastic mechanisms should be taken into consideration to simulate the deformation behavior of clay under pure principal stress rotation. The mechanism of the soil response to the pure principal stress rotation is discussed based on the experimental observations.展开更多

One of the possible analytical tools may be the Multiple Linear Regression Analysis. However, research papers usually report both univariate and multivariate regression analyses of the data. The biostatistician sometimes faces practical difficulties while selecting the independent variables for logical inclusion in the multivariate analysis. The selection criteria for inclusion of a variable in the multivariate regression is that the variable at the univariate level should have a regression coefficient with p 〈 0.20. However, there is a chance that an independent variable with p 〉 0.20 at univariate regression may become significant in the multivariate regression analysis and vice versa, provided the above criteria is not strictly adhered to. We undertook both univariate and multivariate linear regression analyses on data from two multi-centric clinical trials. We recommend that there is no need to restrict the p value of 〈= 0.20. Because of high speed computer and availability of statistical software, the desired results could be achieved by considering all relevant independent variables in multivariate regression analysis.展开更多
