We adopt Py...This paper will make an investigation on the properties of lexical causatives from the cross-linguistic perspective. Specifically, we shall contrast the lexical causatives in English, Japanese and Chinese. We adopt Pylkk^inen's (2008) minimalist model as the framework. According to this model, the similarity of cross-linguistic causatives is attributed to the presence of the functional head vCAUSE. Variations of causatives in different languages can be attributed to two parameters: (i) whether vCAUSE obligatorily requires the presence of an external argument or not; (ii) the complement of vCAUSE is root-selecting, verb-selecting or phase-selecting. Causatives in languages can be ronghly divided into two types, namely the lexical causatives and the productive ones. As far as lexical causatives are concerned, languages can be classified into Voice-bundling vs. Non-Voice-bundling ones according to whether the presence of an external argument (i.e, causer or cause) is obligatorily required in lexical causatives or not. English is Voice-bundling and Japanese is Non-Voice-bundling. Chinese stands as the third type of languages which may be called semi-Voice-bnndling language since lexical unaccusative causatives in Chinese are Non-Voice-bundling while action-result-compounds unaccusatives (resultative unaccusatives) are Voice-bundling. Foreign teaching and Chinese language teaching of minority are two different forms of teaching in nature, both the nature and the system of teaching are different, but in the teaching objectives, content, principles, ...Foreign teaching and Chinese language teaching of minority are two different forms of teaching in nature, both the nature and the system of teaching are different, but in the teaching objectives, content, principles, methods, and therefore there are many similarities, so two studies outcomes can learn from each other. In this paper, with voice teaching as an example, we will talk about foreign language studies in ethnic minority Chinese Teaching. I think, in the teaching program design, the teaching Chinese minorities can learn from the simplified idea of teaching phonological Mr. Zhao Jin ruing, which is proposed foreign teaching Chinese, to simplify Voice teaching. In teaching principles, we should emphasize specific principles, instructional design based on students' different characteristics. In the teaching content, teaching should not only pay attention phonetic syllables within the system, but also more emphasis on syllables voice level teaching, especially teaching speech flow. In teaching methods, we should learn teaching, research tone, softly and so on.展开更多
This paper reports on an ethnographic inquiry into the linguistic and sociocultural affordances available to English and Japanese foreign language learners through their engagement in a social learning space at a Japa...This paper reports on an ethnographic inquiry into the linguistic and sociocultural affordances available to English and Japanese foreign language learners through their engagement in a social learning space at a Japanese university. By social learning space we refer to a facility in which students come together in order to learn with and from each other in a non- formal setting. To explore the social learning dynamic in this environment, we carried out a longitudinal ethnographic inquiry. Data came primarily from interviews with learners and administrators, supported by participant-observations. A thematic analysis of the data, informed by ecological and community of practice perspectives, pointed to the emergence of a community of learners and revealed how closely the affordances were connected with the emergent community. In this paper we report on the findings related to the affordances which gave rise to language learning opportunities, the relationship of these affordances to the conditions which supported the development of a community of learners, and the role of learner autonomy in regard to these two interrelated phenomena.展开更多
