Lake ice thickness changes with regional hydrometeorology and is closely associated with global climate change.We tested the detection of ice thickness using ground penetrating radar(GPR)in the Hongqipao reservoir.I...Lake ice thickness changes with regional hydrometeorology and is closely associated with global climate change.We tested the detection of ice thickness using ground penetrating radar(GPR)in the Hongqipao reservoir.Ice crystals,gas bubbles,ice density and ice thickness were also determined by concurrently drilling for validation.During the tests the gas bubble content was high in the upper and low in the bottom,ice density varied with the bubble content,and the ice thickness was not homogeneous.By comparisons between radar detected and in-situ measured ice thicknesses with theoretical analyses of the influence of gas bubble content on the dielectric constant,a three-layer model with snow, granular ice,and columnar ice was established and the transmission speed of radar wave within the ice was determined.Experience reveals that the equivalent dielectric constant can be used to evaluate the wave speed and the values at 1/3 ice cover depth can be used as equivalent values.Besides,the difference between the theoretical transmission time and the real detection time induced by large gas bubbles increases nonlinearly with the theoretical transmission time or ice thickness.展开更多

Radar stealth and onboard electronic attack are two major techniques for the reduction of aircraft susce...The combat survivability is an essential factor to be considered in the development of recent military aircraft. Radar stealth and onboard electronic attack are two major techniques for the reduction of aircraft susceptibility. A tactical scenario for a strike mission is presented. The effect of aircraft radar cross section on the detection probability of a threat radar, as well as that of onboard jammer, are investigated. The guidance errors of radar guided surface to air missile and anti aircraft artillery, which are disturbed by radar cross section reduction or jammer radiated power and both of them are determined. The probability of aircraft kill given a single shot is calculated and finally the sortie survivability of an attack aircraft in a supposed hostile thread environment worked out. It is demonstrated that the survivability of a combat aircraft will be greatly enhanced by the combined radar stealth and onboard electronic attack, and the evaluation metho dology is effective and applicable.展开更多
AIM To identify chromosomal copy number aberrations(CNAs) in early-stage hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) and analyze whether they are correlated with patient prognosis.METHODS One hundred and twenty patients with early-...AIM To identify chromosomal copy number aberrations(CNAs) in early-stage hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) and analyze whether they are correlated with patient prognosis.METHODS One hundred and twenty patients with early-stage HCC were enrolled in our study, with the collection of formalin fixed, paraffin-embedded(FFPE) specimens and clinicopathological data. Tumor areas were marked by certified pathologists on a hematoxylin and eosinstained slide, and cancer and adjacent non-cancerous tissues underwent extraction of DNA, which was analyzed with the Affymetrix Onco Scan platform to assess CNAs and loss of heterozygosity(LOH). Ten individuals with nonmalignant disease were used as the control group. Another cohort consisting of 40 patients with stage Ⅰ/Ⅱ HCC were enrolled to analyze gene expression and to correlate findings with the Onco Scan data.RESULTS Copy number amplifications occurred at chromosomes 1 q21.1-q44 and 8 q12.3-24.3 and deletions were found at 4 q13.1-q35.2, 8 p 23.2-21.1, 16 q23.3-24.3, and 17 p13.3-12, while LOH commonly occurred at 1 p32.3, 3 p21.31, 8 p23.2-21.1, 16 q22.1-24.3, and 17 p 13.3-11 in early-stage HCC. Using Cox regression analysis, we also found that a higher percentage of genome change(≥ 60%) was an independent factor for worse prognosis in early-stage HCC(P = 0.031). Among the 875 genes in the Onco Scan Gene Chip, six were independent predictors of worse disease-free survival, of which three were amplified(MYC, ELAC2, and SYK) and three were deleted(GAK, MECOM, and WRN). Further, patients with HCC who exhibited ≥ 3 CNAs involving these six genes have worse outcomes compared to those who had < 3 CNAs(P < 0.001). Similarly, Asian patients with stage I HCC from The Cancer Genome Atlas harboring CNAs with these genes were also predicted to have poorer outcomes.CONCLUSION Patients with early-stage HCC and increased genome change or CNAs involving MYC, ELAC2, SYK, GAK, MECOM, or WRN are at risk for poorer outcome after resection.展开更多

A new flame detector with one ultraviolet and two infrared detectors is designed. The ultraviolet detector is of rapid response(≤10 μs) while the two infrared detectors usually have a response time of more than 5 ms. The ultraviolet detector is applied to deal with the flame of large scales. When facing the flame of mid or small scales, the three detectors cooperate. Employing the high-order derivatives of the sample data of the infrared circuits to improve the sensitivity, the response speed is greatly improved. The data of the temperature sensor is used to adjust circuit parameters in real time, thus reducing the effect of temperature drift. The flame detectors are tested at different distances and the response time is as rapid as 0.65 ms. The test results show that the new flame detector has the characteristics of high speed and a low rate of false alarms.展开更多
Form error measurement is a critical exercise in providing measures for the quality control in the precision manufacturing industry.Coordinate measuring machine (CMM) is one of the automated systems used in the accu...Form error measurement is a critical exercise in providing measures for the quality control in the precision manufacturing industry.Coordinate measuring machine (CMM) is one of the automated systems used in the accurate and precise dimensional measurements and geometrical form.This paper aims to study the effect of dynamic original unforeseeable errors at different undulations per revolution (UPR) of standard artifact measurement using selected two types of CMM touchtriggering stylus.Stylus-type and stylus-speed parameters were adopted and utilized throughout the course of experiment.The results are analyzed using fast Fourier transformation to obtain foreseeable geometrical errors due to CMM machine structure and stylus scanning speeds.The results of experiment successfully indicate that the number of UPR plays an important role in determining the CMM accuracy level of the roundness measurement result.Some specific error equations for stylus system and machine structure responses have been postulated and analysed to empirically predict the accuracy of PRISMOBridge-CMM-type at National Institute for Standards (NIS) in egypt.展开更多

The contrastive numerical simulation between free supersonic airflow and pitot tube at different positions in supersonic air flow was performed using Navier-Stokes equations, the ENN scheme with time-dependent boundary conditions (TDBC) and the Spalart-Allmaras turbulence model. The physical experimental results including pitot pressure and shadowgraph are also presented. Numerical results coincide with the experimental data. The flow characteristics of the pitot probe on the supersonic flow structure show that the measure- ment gives actually the total pressure behind the detached shock wave by using the pitot probe to measure the total pressure. The measurement result of the distribution of the total pressure can still represent the real free jet flow. The similar features of the intersection and reflection of shock waves can be identified. The difference between the measurement results and the actual ones is smaller than 10%. When the pitot probe is used to measure the region of L=0-4D, the measurement is smaller than the real one due to the increase of the shock wave strength. The difference becomes larger where the waves intersect. If the pitot probe is put at L=SD-10D, where the flow changes from supersonic to subsonic, the addition of the pitot probe turns the original supersonic flow region subsonic and causes bigger measurement errors.展开更多

The results show that the main false alarm resourses of space- based laser warning system are sunlight and lightning. The sunlight should exposure the detector directly in one ninth of the satfllite orbital period, and the imaging spot of sun is similar to the attack laser. The lightning imaging spot is similar to the illumination laser. About 1.4 lightning events can occur in the field of view (FOV) of the warning system per second. It could not discriminate spots of sun, lightning and threaten laser by the frame subtraction technology.展开更多
