First, the existence characteristics of the optimal supply voltage for a single task are proved, which suggests that the optimal supply voltage for the single task should be selected only within a one-dimensional term, and the corresponding task end time by the optimal supply voltage should be identical with its deadline. Then, it is pointed out that the minimum energy consumption that the DVS policy can obtain when completing a single task is certainly lower than that of the dynamic power management (DPM) policy or the combined DVS+DPM policy under the same conditions. Finally, the theorem of energy consumption minimization for a multi-task group is proposed, which declares that it is necessary to keep the processor in the execution state during the whole task period to obtain the minimum energy consumption, while satisfying the deadline constraints of any task.展开更多

In contrast to previous works, this paper ...This paper describes a new approach for designing analog predistorters that can compensate for the nonlinear distortion of laser drivers in a radio-over-fiber (RoF) system. In contrast to previous works, this paper analyzes the transfer characteristics of CMOS transistors, by combining parallel currents of CMOS transistors in various W/L and negative bias voltages to realize the tunable analog predistortion function. The circuit is fabricated by a standard 0.18txm CMOS technology. The core circuit current consumption is only 15mA and the entire driver circuit works in a band-pass from 1 - 2.2GHz. Experimental results of two-tone tests have shown that with an analog predistortoer the IIP3 of the laser driver circuit has an improvement of 4.91 dB.展开更多
Simultaneous dimming controlling and data transmission are usually required in a white LED based indoor visible light communication system.However,the diming controlling of LED normally interferes the data transmissio...Simultaneous dimming controlling and data transmission are usually required in a white LED based indoor visible light communication system.However,the diming controlling of LED normally interferes the data transmission due to the modulation nonlinearity of LED.In order to solve this problem,a scheme by separating the LEDs for the functions of dimming control and data transmission respectively is proposed in this paper.In the scheme,the LEDs used for dimming control function are driven by a dc amplified circuit,and the LEDs for data transmission are driven by a digital modulation circuit respectively.In this way,the modulation distortion to the data signal caused by the modulation nonlinearity can be avoided even if the dimming is at high level dc driven current.The proof-of-concept experiment of a 2.5Mbit/s visible light communication system demonstrates that the dimming controlling and data transmission can be realized simultaneously in a simple way,and the data transmission is not affected by the dimming controlling function.Compared to previous methods,the scheme in this paper is simpler and cost effective,and makes sense when high rate data is transmitted in a visible light communication system.展开更多
An active-RC low-pass filter of 5MHz cutoff frequency with a tuning architecture is proposed. It is implemented in 0. 18μm standard CMOS technology. The accuracy of the tuning system is improved to be within ( - 1.2...An active-RC low-pass filter of 5MHz cutoff frequency with a tuning architecture is proposed. It is implemented in 0. 18μm standard CMOS technology. The accuracy of the tuning system is improved to be within ( - 1.24%, + 2.16%) in measurement. The chip area of the tuning system is only a quarter of that of the main-filter. After tuning is completed, the tuning system will be turned off automatically to save power and to avoid interference. The in-band 3rd order harmonic input intercept point (IIP3) is larger than 16. ldBm, with 50Ω as the source impedance. The input referred noise is about 36μVrms The measured group delay variation of the filter between 3 and 5MHz is only 24ns,and the filter power consump- tion is 3.6roW. This filter with the tuning system is realized easily and can be used in many wireless low-IF receiver applications, such as global position systems (GPS), global system for mobile communications (GSM) and code division multiple access (CDMA) chips.展开更多
