As such, the classical initial-boundary value problem for the Terzaghi one-dimensional consolidation equation is not well-posed. Moreover, the classical boundary conditions of the equation can only be applied to problems with either perfectly pervious or perfectly impervious boundaries. General boundary conditions are proposed to overcome these shortcomings and thus transfer the solution of the Terzaghi one-dimensional consolidation equation to a well-posed initial boundary value problem. The solution for proposed general boundary conditions is validated by comparing it to the classical solution. The actual field drainage conditions can be simulated by adjusting the values of parameters b and c given in the proposed general botmdary conditions. For relatively high coefficient of consolidation, just one term in series expansions is enough to obtain results with acceptable accuracy. 展开更多

The contemporary economic crisis should be considered within the framework of the contradictions created by the neoliberal model that was adopted in the mid-1970s, in the United States and throughout much of the world. The changes in the labor market and new forms of workforce exploitation based on deregulation, the increase of off-shoring, and flexible hiring practices have led to "new" precarious labor conditions. Due to the crisis, the United States labor market has been characterized by four factors: the increase of the unemployment, the unedited growth of the informal sector, a dramatic increase in precarious labor conditions for all workers, especially young people, minorities, and immigrants, and the increasing wage polarization. However, capitalist profit rates have actually substantially increased due to neoliberal policies and the resulting economic crisis. This situation led to a rise in the overexploitation of labor. It has had subsequent effects on unemployment, informal work, precarious labor conditions, and unequal salary distribution, especially in recently created positions. Increased labor flexibility has changed the typical forms of wage employment, and stable employment has been replaced by temporary and part-time employment usually with low wages and without social security and benefits. 展开更多

A disintegrin and metaUoproteinase 10 (ADAM10) and... α-secretase and β-secretase are known to compete for amyloid precursor protein (APP) processing and thus play a vital role in Alzheimer's disease pathogenesis. A disintegrin and metaUoproteinase 10 (ADAM10) and β-site APP cleaving enzyme 1 (BACE1) mediate the major activities of α-secretase and β-secretase in brain and share various common substrates. However, whether they function separately or together is poorly understood. Here, we show that ADAM10 and BACE1 co-localize in the neurites of mouse primary neurons. Co-immunoprecipitation and fluorescence resonance energy transfer analysis revealed that ADAM10 and BACE1 interact with each other under both endogenous and exogenous conditions. In addition, we found that ADAMIO enhances the proteolysis of neural cell adhesion molecule close homolog of L1 (CHL1) by BACE1. Further studies found that ADAM10-BACE1 interaction interfering peptide LT52 attenuates the regulation of ADAM10 on BACEl-mediated cleavage of CHL1. Our data indicate that ADAM10-BACE1 interaction regulates the proteolysis of some specific substrates and may play a potential role in brain function. 展开更多

By adjusting the thickness of P SAL, the CIEx,y of devices, which utilize 2, 7-Di-pyrenyl-9, 9-spiro-bifluorene (DPSF) as emitting layer, changes from (0.16, 0.50) to (0.18, 0.37). The maximnum current efficiency of 7.1 cd/A is acquired under 4.5 V with an increasing luminance of 139 cd/m^2. Compared with adjusting the total thickness of organic layer, it is more beneficial for achieving blue TEOLEDs with high efficiency. 展开更多
