[Method] Taking the ryegrass (Lolium perenne) - white clover ( Trifolium repens) artificial grassland in Maiping Township, Guizhou Province as the research object, the grassland vegetation of 40 quadrate from different areas (area around the sheep shed, hilltop, hillside, flatland at the foot of the hill) were analyzed by comparing the dominance and richness index. [ Result] Degradation of different degrees appeared in various areas of this artificial grassland. To be specific, the degradation of grassland around the sheep shed was not serious for less consumption by the sheep; however, the areas on the hilltop and hillside degenerated to the grassland types of dallis grass ( Paspalum dilatatum Poir. ) -Indian lovegrass ( Eragrostis pilosa) and dallis grass - cogongrass [ Imperata cylindrica ( Linn. ) Beauv. ], respectively, and the area at the foot of the hill degenerated to the grassland type dominated by garland chrysanthetnum ( Chrysanthemum coronarium L. ) and knotgrass ( Paspalum distichum L. ). [ Conclusion ] This study provided a basis for grassland improvement as well as the efficient and sustainable utilization of grazing-type artificial grassland in South China.展开更多
Human endogenous retroviruses(HERVs) are retroviruses that infected human genome millions of years ago and have persisted throughout human evolution. About 8% of our genome is composed of HERVs, most of which are nonf...Human endogenous retroviruses(HERVs) are retroviruses that infected human genome millions of years ago and have persisted throughout human evolution. About 8% of our genome is composed of HERVs, most of which are nonfunctional because of epigenetic control or deactivating mutations. However, a correlation between HERVs and human cancer has been described and many tumors, such as melanoma, breast cancer, germ cell tumors, renal cancer or ovarian cancer, express HERV proteins, mainly HERV-K(HML6) and HERV-K(HML2). Although the causative role of HERVs in cancer is controversial, data from animal models demonstrated that endogenous retroviruses are potentially oncogenic. HERV protein expression in human cells generates an immune response by activating innate and adaptive immunities. Some HERV-derived peptides have antigenic properties. For example, HERV-K(HML-6) encodes the HER-K MEL peptide recognized by CD8+ lymphocytes. In addition, HERVs are twoedged immunomodulators. HERVs show immunosuppressive activity. The presence of genomic retroviral elements in host-cell cytosol may activate an interferon type I response. Therefore, targeting HERVs through cellular vaccines or immunomodulatory drugs combined with checkpoint inhibitors is attracting interest because they could be active in human tumors.展开更多

Buffering exogenous perturbation is crucial to maintain transcriptional homeostasis during development.While mi RNAs have been speculated to play a role in stability maintenance, previous studies seeking to check this...Buffering exogenous perturbation is crucial to maintain transcriptional homeostasis during development.While mi RNAs have been speculated to play a role in stability maintenance, previous studies seeking to check this conjecture focused on measurements of transcript levels at steady state or involved individual mi RNA targets. We measured whole-genome expression dynamics by introducing a transient perturbation and establishing a perturbation and recovery system in Drosophila larvae. We inhibited all transcription and assayed transcriptomes at several time points during recovery from inhibition. We performed these experiments in the wild type and mi RNA-deficient genetic backgrounds. Consistent with theories about mi RNAs’ function in stabilizing the transcriptome, we find that attenuating mi RNA expression leads to weak impairment in degradation of targets but strong destabilization of target genes when transcription is re-activated. We further fitted a model that captures the essential aspects of transcription dynamics in our experiments and found that the mi RNA target transcripts uniformly overshoot the original steady state as they recover from a general inhibition of transcription if global mi RNA levels are reduced. Collectively, our results provide experimental evidence for the idea that mi RNAs act cumulatively to stabilize the transcriptional regulatory network. We therefore found a promising approach to assess the effect of these molecules on transcription dynamics.展开更多
