The dynamical components considered in the developed SC-HEOM are wavepackets' phase-space moments of not only the primary reduced system density operator but also the auxiliary density operators (ADOs) of HEOM. It is a highly numerically efficient method, meanwhile taking into account the high-order effcts of system-bath couplings. The SC-HEOM methodology is exemplified in this work on the hierarchical quantum master equation [J. Chem. Phys. 131, 214111 (2009)] and numerically demonstrated on linear spectra of anharmonic oscillators.展开更多

This simple approach can be employed to interrogate absolute molecular orientations other than using the complex absolute phase measurement in the SFG studies. We used the -CN group in the p-cyanophenol (PCP) molecule as the internal phase standard, and we measured the phases of the SFG fields of the -CN groups in the 3,5-dimethyl-4-hydroxy-benzonitrile (35DMHBN) and 2,6-dimethyl-4-hydroxy-benzonitrile (26DMHBN) at the air/water interface by measuring the SFG spectra of the aqueous surfaces of the mixtures of the PCP, 35DMHBN, and 26DMHBN solutions. The results showed that the 35DMHBN had its -CN group pointing into the aqueous phase; while the 26DMHBN, similar to the PCP, had its -CN group pointing away from the aqueous phase. The tilt angles of the -CN group for both the 35DMHBN and 26DMHBN molecules at the air/water interface were around 25°-45° from the interface normal. These results provided insights on the understanding of the detailed balance of the competing factors, such as solvation of the polar head groups, hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic effects, etc., on influencing the absolute molecular orientation at the air/water interface.展开更多

It is the further development of the scheme of [Phys. Rev. A 69 (2004) 064302], where the cavity mode decay has not been considered and the state teleportated is an unknown atomic state. In this paper, we investigate the influence of the decay on the approximate and conditional teleportation of the unknown atomic-entangled state, which is different from that teleportated in [Phys. The scheme may be generalized to not only the teleportation of the cavity-mode-entangled-state by means of a single atom but also the teleportation of the unknown trapped-ionentangled-state in a linear ion trap.展开更多

The scheme is based on the resonant interaction of two-mode cavity with ∧-type three-level atom, and it involves only a single measurement. In the scheme, the output state after swapping is exactly the maximally entangled state in principle, thus it is prior to the previous one, in which the output state is just approximate. Calculations indicate that our scheme is less influenced by an error.展开更多

We compare two competing methods of adaptively discretizing the real-space grid on which computations are performed without modifying the standard polynomial basis-set traditionally used in finite element interpolations; namely, (i) an application of the Kelly error estimator, and (ii) a refinement based on the local potential level. When the performance of these methods are compared to standard uniform global refinement, we find that they significantly improve the total time spent in the eigensolver.展开更多
