Results of SEM and XRD analysis show that Zn nanoparticles had a diameter of about 15-25 nm when the deposition time was 3-5 s. The UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectra show the Zn loaded harvest light with 480-780 nm more effectively than the unloaded sample. The photocurrent response of Zn loaded TNTs electrodes were studied, the results showed that TNTs electrodes loaded with Zn nanoparti-cles has 50% increased photocurrent response under high-pressure mercury lamp irradiation compared with unloaded TNTs electrode.展开更多

The central part of the explicit dynamic relaxation method is to turn a time-independent static problem into an artificial time-dependent dynamic problem. The related numerical testing results demonstrate that: (1) the proposed effective loading algorithm is capable of enabling an applied load in a static problem to be propagated throughout the whole system within a given loading increment, so that the time-independent solution of the static problem can be obtained; (2) the proposed effective loading algorithm can be straightforwardly applied to the particle simulation method for solving a wide range of static problems.展开更多

By using typical co‐precipitation and deposition–precipitation methods and under identical calcination conditions, supported gold catalysts were prepared on a wide variety of MOx supports, and the temperature for 50%conversion was measured to qualita‐tively evaluate the catalytic activities of these simple MOx and supported Au catalysts. Furthermore, the difference in these temperatures for the simple MOx compared to the supported Au catalysts is plotted against the metal–oxygen binding energies of the support MOx. A clear volcano‐like correla‐tion between the temperature difference and the metal–oxygen binding energies is observed. This correlation suggests that the use of MOx with appropriate metal–oxygen binding energies (300–500 kJ/atom O) greatly improves the catalytic activity of MOx by the deposition of Au NPs.展开更多

An optimization algorithm named Binary Particle Swarm Optimization is used to improve the computation of Non_Reduct in order to detect outliers.By using Binary PSO algorithm, the rules generated from Rough_Outliers algorithm is optimized, giving significant outliers object detected. The detection ofoutliers process is then enhanced by hybridizing it with Negative Association Rules. Frequent and Infrequent item sets from outlier rules are generated. Results show that the hybrid Rough_Negative algorithm is able to uncover meaningful knowledge of outliers from the frequent and infrequent item sets. These knowledge can then be used by experts in their field of domain for better decision making.展开更多

The objective of solving ELD problem is to allocate the generation output of the committed generating units. The main contribution of this work is to solve the ELD problem concerned with daily load pattern. The proposed solution technique, developed based PSO (particle swarm optimization) algorithm, is applied to search for the optimal schedule of all generations units that can supply the required load demand at minimum fuel cost while satisfying all unit and system operational constraints. The performance of the developed methodology is demonstrated by case studies in test system of six-generation units. The results obtained from the PSO are compared to those achieved from other approaches, such as QP (quadratic programming), and GA (genetic algorithm).展开更多

Model catalysts were first prepared by dispersing -3-nm Pt nanoparticles on -120-nm silica beads. These were then covered with a fresh layer of mesoporous silica, a few tens of nanometers thick, and etched to re-expose the metal surface to the reaction mixtures. TEM images were used to confirm the success of each of the synthesis steps, and both CO titrations and kinetic measurements for the catalytic conversion of cis- and trans-2-butenes with hydrogen were employed to test the degree of re-activation of the catalyst obtained after the etching treatment, which had to be tuned to give simultaneous maximum activity and maximum catalyst stability. The resulting encapsulated platinum nanoparticles were shown to resist sintering during calcination at temperatures as high as 1075 K, whereas the unprotected catalysts were seen to sinter by 875 K.展开更多

Graphene sheets with high surface area and aspect ratio are chosen as space restrictor to prevent the sintering and aggregation of nanoparticles during high temperature treatments (800 ℃). In the resulting nanocomposite, each individual Fe2O3 nanoparticle (5 to 20 nm in diameter) is uniformly coated with a continuous and thin (two to five layers) graphitic carbon shell. Further, the core-shell nanoparticles are evenly distributed on graphene sheets. When used as anode materials for lithium ion batteries, the conductive-additive-free Fe2OB@C@G electrode shows outstanding Li+ storage properties with large reversible specific capacity (864 mAh/g after 100 cycles), excellent cyclic stability (120% retention after 100 cycles at 100 mA/g), high Coulombic efficiency (-99%), and good rate capability.展开更多

Here, we report an in-depth biochemical characterization of the role of Rab3A in secretion by scrutinizingthe exocytotic response of streptolysin O-permeabiUzed human sperm to the acute application of a number of Rab3A-containing constructs and correlating the findings with those gathered with the endogenous protein. Full length, geranyigeranyiated, and active Rab3A elicited human sperm exocytosis perse. With Rab3A/Rab22A chimeric proteins, we demonstrated that the carboxy-terminal domain of the Rab3A molecule was necessary and sufficient to promote exocytosis, whereas its amino.terminus prevented calcium-triggered secretion. Interestingly, full length Rab3A halted secretion when added after the docking of the acrosome to the plasma membrane. This effect depended on the inability of Rab3A to hydrolyze GTP. We combined modified immunofluorescence and acrosomal staining protocols to detect membrane fusion and the activation status of endogenous Rab3 simultaneously in individual cells, and found that GTP hydrolysis on endogenous Rab3 was mandatory for fusion pores to open. Our findings contribute to establishing that Rab3 modulates regulated exocytosis differently depending on the nucleotide bound and the exocytosis stage under study.展开更多
