The dynamic vertical handoffs by call admission cont...For the integration network of a cellular network and a wireless local area network (WLAN), a priority-based dynamic load transfer (PDLT) algorithm is proposed. The dynamic vertical handoffs by call admission control are jointly determined by the network conditions and the traffic characteristics in combination with the location-condition of mobile terminals. When there is no bandwidth resource available in the cellular network or WLAN, the proposed PDLT algorithm allows an incoming voice call or data call within the overlapping area of the cellular network and the WLAN to be directed to the spare network; meanwhile, by dynamically computing the occupancy of the bandwidth resource, the proposed PDLT algorithm also allows an ongoing voice call or data communication to be transferred to the network with a sufficient bandwidth resource according to the given threshold to balance the number of voice/data calls in the two networks. The analysis results of a two-dimensional Markov model and the simulation results show that the PDLT algorithm can effectively enhance the whole integrated network' s traffic, reduce the blocking probability of new calls and increase the data throughput, and thus decrease the response time for various services.展开更多

Firstly, the principal operations of different kinds of photoelectronic lambda bipolar transistor ( PLBT) are characterized by a simple circuit model. Through mathematical analysis of the equivalent circuit, the typical characteristics curve is divided into positive resistance, peak, negative resistance and cutoff regions. Secondly, by analyzing and simulating this model, the ratio of MOSFET width to channel length, threshold voltage and common emitter gain are discovered as the main structure parameters that determine the characteristic curves of PLBT. And peak region width, peak current value, negative resistance value and valley voltage value of PLBT can be changed conveniently according to the actual demands by modifying these parameters. Finally comparisons of the characteristics of the fabricated devices and the simu- lation results are made, which show that the analytical results are in agreement with the observed devices characteristics.展开更多

Based on the concentric cylinder shearing theory, considering the changes of pile shape(such as, taper angle and diameters of pile base, etc.), the load-transfer of special-shaped pile was built. The accuracy of the developed simplified approach was verified by numerical simulation model with the same condition. Then, the influence factors, such as, taper angles, the diameter of pile base, surcharge, and pile-soil interface parameters were analyzed and discussed. The results show that the developed simplified approach can calculate NSF of special-shaped pile under surcharge effectively. A limited parametric study indicates that in many practical situations special-shaped piles(such as belled wedge pile shown in this work) offer a design option that is more economical than traditional uniform cross-section piles.展开更多

However, the influence of loading sequence on the dragload and downdrag for pile foundation is seldom studied. In this paper, a three-dimensional numerical model was established using FLAC3D. Compared with the results of model test, the established model could be used to study the NSF of pile foundation. The influencing factors were discussed including the length-diameter ratio of pile and the loading sequence of pile head load and surcharge. A case history was analyzed using FLAC3D. The calculated results are in good agreement with the measured results. It is concluded that the dragload and downdrag are remarkably influenced by the loading sequence of pile head load and surcharge.
