Hematite(α-Fe_(2)O_(3))constitutes one of the most promising photoanode materials for oxygen evolution reaction(OER).Recent research on Fe_(2)O_(3) have found a fast OER rate dependence on surface hole density,suggesting a multisite reaction pathway.However,the effect of heteroatom in Fe_(2)O_(3) on the multisite mechanism is still poorly understood.Herein we synthesized Fe_(2)O_(3) on Ti substrates(Fe_(2)O_(3)/Ti)to study the oxygen intermediates of OER by light-dark electrochemical scans.We identified the Fe-OH species disappeared and Ti-OH intermediates appeared on Fe_(2)O_(3)/Ti when pH=11‒14,which significantly improved the OER performance of Fe_(2)O_(3)/Ti.Combined with the density functional theory calculations,we propose that Ti atom acts as cocatalyst site and captures proton from neighboring Fe-OH species under highly alkaline condition,thereby promoting the coupling of Fe=O and reducing the energy barrier of the non-electrochemical step.Our work provides a new insight into the role of heteroatom in OER multisite mechanism based on clarifying the reaction intermediates. 展开更多

Al/GaSb Contact with Slow Positron Beam

Annealing study of the Al/GaSb system was performed by using a slow positron beam and the measurement of X-ray diffraction. The S parameter against positron energy data were fitted by a three layer model (Al/interface/GaSb). It was found there was a ~5 nm interfacial at the region between the Al layer and bulk in the sample of as-deposited. After the 400 ℃ annealing, this interfacial region extends to over 40 nm and S parameter dramatically drops. This is possibly due to a new phase formation induced by the atoms'inter-diffusion at the interface. The annealing out of the open volume defects in the Al layer was revealed by the decrease of the S parameter and the increase of the effective diffusion length of the Al layer. Annealing behaviors of Sb and Lb of the GaSb bulk showed the annealing out of positron traps at 250 ℃. However,further annealing at 400 ℃ induces formation of positron traps, which are possibly another kind of VGarelated defect and the positron shallow trap GaSb anti-site. The results of the X-ray diffraction experiment verified the conclusion of obtained by using positron technology. 展开更多

The concentrations of seven essential trace elements in 149 freshwater fish from eight fish species (European eel, bream, common carp, European catfish, roach, perch, pike and pikeperch) from five different French fishing areas from contaminated and control sites were measured by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry after microwave digestion under pressure. Differences in the concentration of elements in the muscles of these species were examined and the mean levels were compared for each species with previous French and European studies. The condition factor and the differences between the control and contaminated sites and between predatory and non-predatory groups, with respect to the concentration of these elements, were also studied. 展开更多

AIM:To characterize the implications of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)-A in stromal cells and colorectal cancer and the expression of VEGF-A splice variants.METHODS:VEGF-A expression in tumor and stromal cells from 165 consecutive patients with colorectal cancer was examined by immunohistochemistry.The association between VEGF-A expression status and clinicopathological factors was investigated.Twenty freshfrozen samples were obtained for laser capture microdissection to analyze the splice variants of VEGF-A.RESULTS:VEGF-A was expressed in 53.9% and 42.4% of tumor and stromal cells,respectively.VEGF-A expression in tumor cells(t-VEGF-A) was associated with advanced clinical stage(stage 0,1/9;stage 1,2/16;stage 2,32/55;stage 3,38/66;stage 4,16/19,P < 0.0001).VEGF-A expression in stromal cells(s-VEGF-A) increased in the earlier clinical stage(stage 0,7/9;stage 1,6/16;stage 2,33/55;stage 3,22/66;stage 4,5/19;P = 0.004).Multivariate analyses for risk factors of recurrence showed that only s-VEGF-A expression was an independent risk factor for recurrence(relative risk 0.309,95% confidence interval 0.141-0.676,P = 0.0033).The five-year disease-free survival(DFS) rates of t-VEGF-A-positive and-negative cases were 51.4% and 62.9%,respectively.There was no significant difference in t-VEGF-A expression status.The five-year DFS rates of s-VEGF-A-positive and-negative cases were 73.8% and 39.9%,respectively.s-VEGFA-positive cases had significantly better survival than s-VEGF-A-negative cases(P = 0.0005).Splice variant analysis revealed that t-VEGF-A was mainly composed of VEGF165 and that s-VEGF-A included both VEGF165 and VEGF165b.In cases with no venous invasion(v0),the level of VEGF165b mRNA was significantly higher(v0 204.5 ± 122.7,v1 32.5 ± 36.7,v2 2.1 ± 1.7,P = 0.03).The microvessel density tended to be lower in cases with higher VEGF165b mRNA levels.CONCLUSION:s-VEGF-A appears be a good prognostic factor for colorectal cancer and includes VEGF165 and VEGF165b. 展开更多

On water in nominally anhydrous minerals from mantle peridotites and magmatic rocks 被引量:5

Trace amount of water associated with the lattice defects of nominally anhydrous minerals (NAMs) can be measured using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS). Lots of data on water in NAMs from different lithologies, especially mantle peridotite xenoliths, have been published. The water distribution in olivine from peridotite xenoliths often displays a diffusion profile with high water concentration in the core and low at the rim, which indicates water loss via diffusion during the ascent of host magma. On the other hand, water is homogeneously distributed in pyroxene and its concentration is typically interpreted to represent a mantle value. The water concentration of magma in equilibrium with NAM can be estimated using specific partition coefficient, from which the water content of parental magma and the mantle source can be inferred. The accuracy of this method, however, depends on the selection of appropriate partition coefficient for the system. Using hydrogen isotope compositions and H2O/Ce ratios of mantle NAMs, water source regions can be traced and water heterogeneity can be mapped in the upper mantle. Water plays an important role in the stability of cratonic mantle. The water contents and vertical distribution patterns can be significantly different among different cratonic manties, which may result from different geologic activities. However, the mantle-plume interaction may not necessarily result in significant change of water content in cratonic mantle. The estimation of the water content in the upper mantle is still largely based on geochemical models due to the limitations of data on water in mantle NAMs. 展开更多
