In order to study the mechanism of bearing behavior at the tip of a pile embedded in rock, the generalized nonlinear unified strength criterion and slip line principle for resolving the differential equation systems w...In order to study the mechanism of bearing behavior at the tip of a pile embedded in rock, the generalized nonlinear unified strength criterion and slip line principle for resolving the differential equation systems which govern the stress field were applied to derive the ultimate end beating capacity based on some reasonable hypothesis and failure plane model. Both numerical simulation and test results were compared with the theoretic solution. The results show good consistency with each other and verify the validity of the present approach. The depth effect with respective to embedment ratio and other influence factors like geological strength index, intermediate principal stress, overburden factor, and damage on end bearing capacity were discussed in the analytical solution. The results show that the proposed yield criterion can be much better for investigating the ultimate end bearing performance of rock-socketed pile. The end bearing capacity increases with embedment ratio and the increasing degree is influenced intensely by the above parameters. Furthermore, ignoring intermediate stress effect would underestimate the strength properties of the rock material and lead to a very conservative estimation value.展开更多

To se...An important factor for the sustainability of soils highly susceptible to degradation is the use of monitoring tools that promptly and realistically reflect changes imposed on soil by different cropping systems. To select soil quality indicator variables in sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.) production areas that fulfill the criteria of sensitivity to management practices and between-season consistency in the management discrimination, ten composite soil samples (0–10 cm) were collected in July 2005 (rainy season) and again in March 2006 (dry season) from areas under cultivation of organic sugarcane (OS), green sugarcane (GS), burned sugarcane (BS) and from an adjacent native forest (NF) area at Usina Triunfo, Boca da Mata, Alagoas, Brazil. Microbial biomass-C (MBC), total organic C (TOC), soil enzyme activity expressed as the rate of fluorescein diacetate (FDA) hydrolysis, mean weight diameter of water-stable soil aggregates (MWD), and percentage of water-stable macroaggregates (PWSA) were analyzed. Although MBC and TOC were higher in NF than in the cultivated areas, no differences were observed in these C pools between the three sugarcane systems. The response of FDA to the site management was dependent on the sampling time. In the rainy period, the activity followed the order: NF > OS > GS > BS, whereas in the dry season, only NF differed from the other treatments. Irrespective of the sampling time, MWD and PWSA decreased in the order NF > OS = GS > BS. The variables MWD and PWSA are quite sensitive for discriminating between site management histories regardless the sampling season.展开更多
Suspended particulate matter (SPM) levels in ambient air were monitored at Mandi Gobindgarh, an industrial town of Punjab, India located on the National Highway-1 during November 2001 to March 2002 covering spring a...Suspended particulate matter (SPM) levels in ambient air were monitored at Mandi Gobindgarh, an industrial town of Punjab, India located on the National Highway-1 during November 2001 to March 2002 covering spring and winter seasons to check the variation of SPM and its constituents in the town. The maximum levels of SPM varied between 594 μg/m^3 to 620 μg/m^3 at selected monitoring sites while the minimum levels varied between 209μg/m^3 to 220 μg/m^3. These values were observed always above the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) set by the State regulatory body. Major sources of SPM were identified as the industrial activity and traffic plying on the national highway. Collected SPM samples were further analyzed for the ignitable matter as loss on ignition (LOI) and organic tarry matter (OTM) content. Ignitable component of the SPM constituted about 45% and tarry matter in the ambient air was about 12%. Effects of meteorological parameters like temperature, wind direction and wind speed on SPM levels are discussed.展开更多

In this paper, the author details the three aspects substation construction management of the project, namely the concept of substation engineering, project management and construction safety, through these three aspects, the author analyzes the construction project management substation existing problems, To solve these problems and issues proposed some measures and construction process that need attention. The competition among incumbent radio stations becomes challenging due to the market ...Even though radio broadcasting is one of the most widespread electronic mass media, its management for survival is getting drastic. The competition among incumbent radio stations becomes challenging due to the market change and environmental evolution. Managing program quality is a critical issue to a radio station to sharpen its competitive advantages. Quality management of radio programs is intertwined with complicated factors. In order to identify the primary factors affecting radio program quality as well as explore the impact level these factors bring, this study adopts modified Delphi method and analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to explore the issues. According to the outcomes modified Delphi method, the factors were categorized into four dimensions: operation, coordination, structure, and improvement. Ten sub-dimensions were followed. Each sub-dimension includes six to nineteen indicators for measuring radio program quality. In total, 72 indicators were identified. The AHP result revealed that the most important weight was given to the operation dimension. On the contrary, the least important weight was placed on the improvement dimension. Among the sub-dimensions, the standard procedure and organizational design were rated more important than the rest. The results could provide some facts to radio managers for future management.展开更多

Objective: In order to promote the construction of scientific research institutions of TCM in the world and to raise the vitality of the institutions, a prospective study has been done on the establishment of the inte...Objective: In order to promote the construction of scientific research institutions of TCM in the world and to raise the vitality of the institutions, a prospective study has been done on the establishment of the international standards for the research institutions and quality management, namely, Good Research Practice - Institution of Chinese Medicine (GRP-ICM) and Good Quality Practice - Institution of Chinese Medicine (GQP-ICM). Methods: The document analysis, questionnaire, and experts' consultation were adopted to solicit the opinions on the establishment ofinternational standards for the research institutions and quality management. A total of 74 experts from 22 countries and regions (including China) participated in the questionnaire survey, and 30 experts from 11 countries and regions received the consultations and interviews. Results: In the survey, 85.14% of the experts (63/74 experts)considered that it is necessary to establish the unified international standards; 90.00% appraised GRP-ICM excellent and 80.00% appraised GQP-ICM goods; and 93.10% thought that these two standards can be implemented or can be implemented after revision. Conclusion: This is a prospective study on the establishment ofinternational standards for the research institutions and quality management, with a preliminary understanding of the basic framework, main contents and formulating principles. It lays a solid foundation for the establishment and implementation of the unified international standards for the research institutions and quality management.展开更多
