In this case study, the authors applied the Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) to estimate the water quality index on the Dong Nai River flowing through Dong Nai and Binh Duong provinces. The information and data including 10 water quality parameters of the Dong Nai River at 23 monitoring stations were collected during the recorded time period from 2010 to 2014 to build water quality prediction models. The results of the study demonstrated that the Water Quality Index (WQI) forecasted with GRNN was very significant and had high correlation coefficient (R2 = 0.974 and p = 0.0) compared to the real values of the WQI. Moreover, the ANN models provided better predicted values than the multiple regression models did.展开更多

Mathematical description is provided for the multi-objectives decision-making model. The expert judgment and the multi-fuzzy assessment theory are introduced to do sensible comparisons and give quantitative results. A case study on practical cutting tool selection in gear machining demonstrates that the proposed model is applicable.展开更多

Waste paper is an important material in paper reproducing. Comparing to wood pulp, waste paper is more energy-saving and environmentally-friendly. Being a top of one paper producing country in the world, China needs a continuous large quantity of waste paper supply. Waste paper strategy" is being taken seriously until the ti^ding of paper manufacttlring period. This paper strives to examine the waste paper circle and the changes of waste paper resource strategy in China nowadays by doing both amount and price analysis on waste paper trade. It is found that China now strives to promote a sustainability of waste paper resource reuse by drawing down waste paper import, increasing domestic reuse and increasing import channels and categories.展开更多

In Taiwan, the natural and artificial material applied in the ecological technology in internal currently, usually lack of evaluation for applicative conditions. Hence, this study carried on the whole research and identifications to draft the eco-materials of ecological technology. The evaluation models of applied materials for ecological technology were proposed. The quantitative score were obtained by expert's person evaluation. Three models were proposed to quantify the effects of applied materials on the ecological environment. The statistical procedures were adopted to compare the performance of these materials for ecological technology. The results indicated that the comparison of applied materials can be treated by quantitative analysis. For the further analysis, more evaluated data from expert's experience need to be collected then the bias of person subject can be reduced. In addition to reach the benefits in the respects of ecosystem, society, economy and function, also practice the comprehensive effects in ecological technology.展开更多

The results gave an average urban REE of 0.6381, and an average pure technical efifciency (PTE) and scale efifciency (SE) of 0.6964 and 0.9225, respectively. The results support the existence of a U-shaped relationship between REE and income level, which means that an increase in urban GDP does not result in an equivalent increase in environmental efficiency. Economic growth affects REE in three ways: scale effects (population scale and urbanization rate); composition effects; and spatial effects. Improvements in urban resource use and environmental efifciency depend upon both technological innovation and effective governance. Policies designed to achieve these improvements should therefore be implemented at al levels of government and local enterprise.展开更多
