The language of technical articles should be concise and accurate. High-quality technical translation should also have aesthetic value, literary grace and elegant style. Many technical translators think that faithfulness and smoothness are the primary principles in technical translation, while elegance is just an ornamental standard which values little. The author considers elegance in EST translation should be the perfect unity of faithfulness and elegance. This paper analyses the criteria for technical translation, explores the representation of elegance in technical articles, and emphasizes that the literary value should be thoroughly appreciated.展开更多

T...In this paper, characteristics of sculptures and tiie preference for sculptures of college students in different state of mind were analyzed. A total of 165 college students were invited to participate in the study. The method of image fating was employed to investigate these students,landscape preferences after they completed the Profile of Mood States (POMS). The results showed that when the sculptures were placed alone, students in a positive mood had a preference for abstract sculptures, students in a negative mood had a preference for figumtive sculptures with unique symbolic meanings, and paftidpatofy sculptures were populous among college students in different emotional states. When sculptures were placed in the environmentj natural elements of die sculptures greatly affected college students, preference* Students in a positive mood tended to choose sculpture landscapes combined with plants, and students in a negative mood had a preference for sculpture landscapes with water bodies. There were difFefences in the types of sculptxiie landscapes that the college stxidents in different moods thought can telieve their bad moods. There are four parts to this study. The first is an iconographical analysis of the painting by Lavinia Fontana's Cleopatra the Alchemist (1605) at the Galleria Spada in Rome. The second section deals with the origin of the Egyptian Cleopatra the Alchemist as an Egyptian scientist and of her inventions, which include the alembic and the ouroboros motiE The third section consists of an emblematic comparison between the imagery in the painting and alchemical references. The most important contribution of Ly Thai To in Vietnamese history is to move the capital from Hoa Lu to Dai La, and rename it as Thang Long (Ascending Dragon) in 1010. Nowadays, it is known as Hanoi. Ly Thai To promoted Buddhism, and reduced the centuries-old influence of Confucianism in the kingdom. The growth and prevalence of Buddhism brought about a long period of peace, where Buddhist literature consequently flourished with seminal achievements. Due to King Ly Thai To's enormous contributions, the Vietnamese have created several legends and anecdotes to mystify his life. Thus, although a historical figure, his life remains a mystery and controversy. In 2010, Hanoi celebrated the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long. On this occasion, Vietnamese historical films about Ly Cong Uan were produced. This created intriguing variations within historical facts, legends, and on-screen stories. This paper will explore the reconstruction of Ly Cong Uan's life from an adaptation studies perspective through four historical films: Legend of the Capital Relocation (Huyen su thien do), Thang Long Aspiration (Khat vong Thang Long), Ly Cong Uan The Road to Thang Long Citadel (Ly Cong Uan: Dtrong toi thanh Thang Long), Child of the Dragon (Ngtroi con cua Rong). If you only look at the literature, it is only a local folk narrative tunes. It is not uncommon throughout the country. However, if we go deep into the field investigation, after comparison and analysis, we can see that some of the singles music is the art of Sanqu singing that did not disappear from the Ming and Qing dynasties. In order to change the Chinese view of the outside world, scholax-official Wei Yuma (1794-1857) mad his contemporaries compiled this gazetteer in the middle of the 19th century. Haiguo Tuzhi contains numerous geographical, historical, mad political details covering both the western and eastern hemispheres, which derived from the known information on Western researches and Chinese macient texts from the Tang Dynasty (618-907) to Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Haiguo Tuzhi is a significmat work in China, which affected the modernization movement around East Asia, such as Meiji Restoration in Japma. There axe two juan, or scrolls concerning Turkey (the Ottoman Empire), called southern Duluji (Turkey) mad northern Tuluji (Turkey), in Haiguo Tuzhi's "Southwest Ocean" part and "Great West Ocema" part covering the origin of Turkish state, the geographical location and circumstance of Turkey, the distribution of ethnic groups throughout this country, the relationship between Turkey and European countries, the religious situation, mad the policies carried out by Turkish monarchs. Although Haguo Tuzhi is a pmaoramic opus which focuses on the whole outline of countries, it also documents plenty details about Turkish clothing, dietary habits, and characters of people.
