The antenna is composed of a U-shaped line radiator and a small strip bar and is partially grounded, so that the measured impedance bandwidth of the antenna is about 7. 88 GHz covering 3. 12 to 11 GHz with VSWR below 2, and the expected band rejection of 5.06 to 5. 89 GHz is also obtained. Based on the fact that the bandwidth limitation of TSA mainly depends on its feeding structure, an improved CPW-based feed structure etched on the backboard of the BTSA is adopted to perform traveling-wave transition. Both the simulation results and measurement data verify that the proposed feeding structure results in "high-pass" frequency response for antenna impedance matching. The voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) is less than 2:1 when the frequency is higher than 3 GHz. The antenna gain exceeds 7 dBi with good radiation patterns when the bandwidth is from 4 to 16 GHz. From both the theoretical analysis and real data valida- tion, it is concluded that target echo and RFI have different Region Of Support (ROS) in 2-D fast- time wavenumber and aperture wavenumber domain. Consequently, a novel adaptive filter is pro- posed according to the Wiener optimum criterion on the distinct ROS characteristics of target echo and RFI. Compared with the notch filter and the Least Mean Square (LMS) adaptive filter in previ- ous literatures, the proposed method is more computationally efficient with satisfactory suppression results. In terms of Signal-to-Interference Ratio Improvement (SIRI) and processing time, the per- formance of the proposed adaptive filter is verified with the field data collected with a UWB SAR system.展开更多

Cognitive UWB networks not only provide very high data rates but also guarantee the uninterrupted communication of primary system operated in the same frequency band. In this work, the problem of the capacity analyses of cognitive UWB networks is investigated. Different from the conventional cognitive spectrum sharing model which can only utilize the idle spectrum hole, the cognitive UWB system can operate adaptively based on spectrum sensing results. Taking into account several factors such as the transmission power constraint of UWB, the interference constraint of the receivers in primary systems, the secondary UWB network capacity problem is modeled as a convex optimization problem over the transmission power. The optimal power allocation strategy and algorithm are derived based on this optimization problem. Two cases (Perfect Spectrum Sensing and Imperfect Spectrum Sensing) are studied in the paper. Numerical simulation results show that the proposed adaptive power allocationscheme improves the ergodic and outage capacity under both transmission power and interference constraints compared with constant transmission power scheme.展开更多

It has negative permeability and permittivity characteristics with multi-band resonance for the X, Ku, and Ka frequency bands. Different configurations of the patch antenna have been analyzed with different orientations and positions of the metamaterial. Optimized performance was achieved with the new shape of the metamaterial antenna with an appreciable 9 dB gain, 77 GHz bandwidth, 100% radiation efficiency, and 65% reduction in active area. The second-order fractal metamaterial antenna achieves high miniaturization on the order of 1/21. This is truly a boon in the communications world, as a sharp beam with smaller physical di- mensions is urgently required.展开更多
