The characteristic impedances of L-type and T-type networks are first investigated for a distributed amplifier design.The analysis shows that the L-type network has better frequency characteristics than the T-type one...The characteristic impedances of L-type and T-type networks are first investigated for a distributed amplifier design.The analysis shows that the L-type network has better frequency characteristics than the T-type one.A distribution amplifier based on the L-type network is implemented with the 2-μm GaAs HBT(heterojunction-bipolar transistor) process of WIN semiconductors.The measurement result presents excellent bandwidth performance and gives a gain of 5.5 dB with a gain flatness of ±1dB over a frequency range from 3 to 18 GHz.The return losses S11 and S22 are below-10dB in the designed frequency range.The output 1-dB compression point at 5 GHz is 13.3 dBm.The chip area is 0.95 mm2 and the power dissipation is 95 mW under a 3.5 V supply.展开更多

Cognitive UWB networks not only provide very high data rates but also guarantee the uninterrupted communic...The integration of cognitive radio and Ultra wideband (UWB) networks has attracted lots of research interests. Cognitive UWB networks not only provide very high data rates but also guarantee the uninterrupted communication of primary system operated in the same frequency band. In this work, the problem of the capacity analyses of cognitive UWB networks is investigated. Different from the conventional cognitive spectrum sharing model which can only utilize the idle spectrum hole, the cognitive UWB system can operate adaptively based on spectrum sensing results. Taking into account several factors such as the transmission power constraint of UWB, the interference constraint of the receivers in primary systems, the secondary UWB network capacity problem is modeled as a convex optimization problem over the transmission power. The optimal power allocation strategy and algorithm are derived based on this optimization problem. Two cases (Perfect Spectrum Sensing and Imperfect Spectrum Sensing) are studied in the paper. Numerical simulation results show that the proposed adaptive power allocationscheme improves the ergodic and outage capacity under both transmission power and interference constraints compared with constant transmission power scheme.展开更多

This network employs a novel power divider and anti-phase balun as a building block. An equivalent 180° coupler with a bandwidth of 6.2 - 14GHz is achieved by back-connecting the power divider and balun together. Four such couplers are connected to form an ultra-broadband sum-and-difference network which has a bandwidth of 91%. This network, with insertion loss less than 1.8dB in sum port and nulls less than -20dB in all delta ports, is verified to be excellent, resulting in the advantages of being compact, easy manufacturing and low cost.展开更多
