The results show that arc-ultrasound could refine the new reinforced composites such as TiC, TiN significantly, and improve their distribution greatly. And new phase A13Ti becomes finer and less. The test results of mechanical properties indicate that the maximum tensile strength of welded joints is gained when the excitation frequency is 50 kHz, and the maximum is 225 MPa, raising by about 7% comoared with conventional nlasma arc welding (PAW) (20q MPa).展开更多

Sieving was used to determine the size distribution of the AgNi15 particles. The morphology, rapidly solidified structure and metastable solution expansion of the AgNi15 particles were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), respectively. The results show that the AgNi15 composite particles are spherical and well-dispersed, and the mass fractions of the particles with diameters <74μm and <55 μm are 99.5% and 98%, respectively. The rapidly solidified structure of the AgNi15 particles consists of spherical nickel-richβ(Ni)-phase particles dispersed throughout a silver-richα(Ag)-phase matrix andα(Ag)-phase nanoparticles dispersed throughout largerβ(Ni)-phase particles. The silver and nickel in the AgNi15 particles form a reciprocally extended metastable solution, and the solid solubility of nickel in the silver matrix at room temperature is in the range of 0.16%?0.36% (mole fraction).展开更多

The X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), pressure-composition-temperature (PCT) method and TG/DTA techniques were used to study the phase components, microstructure and hydrogen sorption properties of the powders before and after hydrogen absorption. It is revealed that most of the ultrafine Mg and Mg-Ti particles are hexagonal in shape with particle size in the range of 50-700 nm. According to the Van’t Hoff equation, the hydrogenation enthalpy of Mg-Ti powders is determined to be about -67 kJ/mol H2 based on the PCT curves of hydrogen absorption plateau pressures. This value is much higher than -78.6 kJ/mol H2 for pure Mg powders. TG/DTA analyses show that the onset dehydriding temperature of hydrogenated Mg-Ti powders is 386 °C, which is significantly lower than that of the hydrogenated Mg (423 °C). The results prove that the addition of Ti into Mg through arc evaporation method can improve the thermodynamic properties of Mg for hydrogen storage.展开更多

Theeffects of voltages, frequencies and treatment time on the contact angle of the superhydrophobic treated sample were investigated. The results showed that with increasing the voltage, frequency and treatment time, all of the contact angles of the superhydrophobictreated sample increased first, and then decreased, reaching the maximum values at 350 V, 1000 Hz and 5 min, respectively. Theoptimal superhydrophobic coating was mainly composed of MgO and Mg2SiO4 phases, with the pore diameter of ~900 nm, thethickness of ~6.86 μm and the contact angle of 156.96°. The corrosion current density of the superhydrophobic AZ31 sampledecreased by three orders of magnitude, and the amount of hydrogen evolution decreased by 94.77% compared with that of the AZ31substrate sample.展开更多

The mechanical properties and microstructures of these two composites were tested and the thermal shock resistances were evaluated by plasma arc heater. The results indicate that the composite with A1N as sintering additive has a denser and finer microstructure than composite without sintering additive, and the mechanical properties, thermal shock resistance of the composite with A1N as sintering additive are also higher than those of the composite without A1N. Microstructure analysis on the cross-section of two composites after thermal shock tests indicates that a compact oxidation scale contains HfO2 and Al2O3 liquid phase is found on the surface of composite with A1N, which could fill the voids and cracks of surface and improve the thermal shock resistance of composite.展开更多

Regarding uncertainties and complexities, this issue has long been the subject of attention of many researchers. In this work, a one-dimensional consolidation apparatus was equipped in a way that pore water pressure and settlement could be continuously read and recorded during consolidation process under static loading. The end of primary consolidation was obtained using water pressure changes helping to present a new method for determining the end of primary consolidation and consolidation coefficient. This method was then compared with two classical theory methods of lg t and t. Using Terzaghi's theory, the way of pore pressure dissipation for lg t, t and the new method was found and compared with experimental results. It is concluded that the new method has better results.展开更多

The ablation resistance of 3D fine weave pierced carbon/carbon composites at high temperature was also studied. The results show that temperature of the plasma flame is very high which is much closer to the real work environment of carbon/carbon composites. The factors that affect the ablation characters of carbon/carbon composites depend on both the properties of their components and the environmental conditions in which the material is placed. The ablation behaviors of C/C composites change from the center flame region predominantly influenced by sublimation of graphite to the region close to the outer flame influenced mainly by oxidization of graphite. The sublimation ability of carbon matrix is equal to that of carbon fibers but the oxidization ability of carbon fibers is significantly enhanced compared to that of carbon matrix.展开更多

The aero-therrno-elastic governing equations of a simply-supported two dimensional curved panel are developed based on the von K'arrn'an geometrically non-linear theory. The Galerkin approach is used to simplify the equations into discrete forms, which are solved by the fourth-order Ronger-Kutta method. The third-order piston theory is applied to the aerodynamics. The Eck- ert's reference temperature method and the panel heat flux formula are used to compute the aerodynamic heat flux. Several important effects are included, namely 1) two-way coupling considering the effect of elastic deformation on aerodynamic heating and aerodynamic heating on stiffness of structure, 2) accumulation of the aerodynamic heating in real cruise, 3) arbitrary, non-uniform, in-plane and through-thickness temperature distributions, and 4) the effect of initial deformation of curved panel on the flight time to the onset of flutter. Compared with the results of aerothermal-aeroelastic one-way coupling, it is revealed that the two-way coupling which induces decrease of the flight time to the onset of flutter is more dangerous. In addition, importance should be attached to this method in actual analysis.展开更多

In recent years, the effect of bump wall on the flow field around an airfoil has been investigated experimentally and as a result, it was observed that the bump wall is effective for the control of shock wave on the airfoil. In the transonic or supersonic flow field, a rapid expansion of moist air or steam gives rise to non-equilibrium condensation. In the present study, the effect of non-equilibrium condensation of moist air on the self-excited shock wave oscillation around a circular arc blade with or without a bump on the blade was investigated numerically. The results showed that the non-equilibrium condensation significantly reduced the flow field unsteadiness such as root mean of pressure oscillation and frequency compared to the case without the non-equilibrium condensation.展开更多
