The basic idea of ou...A novel Joint Source and Channel Decoding (JSCD) scheme for Variable Length Codes (VLCs) concatenated with turbo codes utilizing a new super-trellis decoding algorithm is presented in this letter. The basic idea of our decoding algorithm is that source a priori information with the form of bit transition probabilities corresponding to the VLC tree can be derived directly from sub-state transitions in new composite-state represented super-trellis. A Maximum Likelihood (ML) decoding algorithm for VLC sequence estimations based on the proposed super-trellis is also described. Simu-lation results show that the new iterative decoding scheme can obtain obvious encoding gain especially for Reversible Variable Length Codes (RVLCs),when compared with the classical separated turbo decoding and the previous joint decoding not considering source statistical characteristics.展开更多

Th...In this paper, superlattice patterns have been investigated by using a two linearly coupled Brusselator model. It is found that superlattice patterns can only be induced in the sub-system with the short wavelength. Three different coupling methods have been used in order to investigate the mode interaction between the two Turing modes. It is proved in the simulations that interaction between activators in the two sub-systems leads to spontaneous formation of black eye pattern and/or white eye patterns while interaction between inhibitors leads to spontaneous formation of super-hexagonal pattern. It is also demonstrated that the same symmetries of the two modes and suitable wavelength ratio of the two modes should also be satisfied to form superlattice patterns.展开更多

The work of Chinese scientists conducted at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research(JINR)(1956–1965)was inextricably linked to the Sino-Soviet relations in the 1950 s–1960 s.During the early stage of the JINR,with ...The work of Chinese scientists conducted at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research(JINR)(1956–1965)was inextricably linked to the Sino-Soviet relations in the 1950 s–1960 s.During the early stage of the JINR,with the aid of advanced equipment and the international cooperation mechanism,Chinese scientists yielded significant results,such as the discovery of the antisigma-minus hyperon and the proof of the law of partial conservation of axial current(PCAC).After the Sino-Soviet split,Chinese scientists’activities at the institute were hampered by political tensions,eventually resulting in China’s withdrawal from the JINR in 1965.But through the involvement at the JINR,Chinese scientists were trained in scientific practices and participated in international exchange and cooperation which turned them into a new force in China’s nuclear industry,boosting its nuclear weapons,particle physics theory,and accelerator technology.In the meantime,the scientists’activities extended the international influence of the JINR.The withdrawal of China from the institute impacted both the JINR and the development of science in China.展开更多

It is found that four energy gaps and corresp...The frequency in middle of magnon energy band in a five-layer ferromagnetic superlattice is studied by using the linear spin-wave approach and Green's function technique. It is found that four energy gaps and corresponding four frequencie in middle of energy gaps exist in the magnon band along Kx direction perpendicular to the superlattice plane. The spin quantum numbers and the interlayer exchange couplings all affect the four frequencies in middle of the energy gaps. When all interlayer exchange couplings are same, the effect of spin quantum numbers on the frequency wg1 in middle of the energy gap Δw12 is complicated, and the frequency wg1 depends on the match of spin quantum numbers in each layer. Meanwhile, the frequencies wg2, wg3, and wg4 in middle of other energy gaps increase monotonously with increasing spin quantum numbers. When the spin quantum numbers in each layer are same, the frequencies wg1, wg2, wg3, and wg4 all increase monotonously with increasing interlayer exchange couplings.展开更多

Meanwhile, the dependence of the bulk modulus B, the lattice parameters a and c, and the unit cell volume V on the applied pressure are presented. It is demonstrated that the method introduced here can well reproduce the experimental results with a reasonable accuracy.展开更多

The super structure was fabricated by assembling monodispersed microspheres in the grooves of the scales of morpho butter...A novel technique was used to fabricate three-dimensional photonic crystals with superlattices. The super structure was fabricated by assembling monodispersed microspheres in the grooves of the scales of morpho butterfly, which makes the photonic crystal being composed of two kinds of different photonic structures (natural groove structure of butterfly wing and artificial microspherical colloids arrangement). The superstructural photonic crystal exhibits some unique optical properties different from both the butterfly wing and the colloidal crystal. The approach exhibited here provides a new way for fabricate photonic crystals with superlattices.展开更多

The Hamiltonian of ultracold bosonic atoms in the honeycomb optical lattice is derived. We take the mean-field approximation and further solve the Hamiltonian with the numerical diagonalization method. We obtain the phase diagram and find that the Mort-insulator (MI), density wave (DW) and modulated superfluid (MS) phases appear. Furthermore, the phase diagram is analyzed according to the order parameter and the average number of particles.展开更多

The free field realization of the twisted current superalgebra at general level k is constructed. The corresponding Conformai Field Theory (CFT) has zero central charge. According to the classification theory, this CFT is a nonunitary field theory. After projecting out a U(1) factor and an outer automorphism operator, we get the free field representation of psl(2|2)(2)k, which is the a/gebra of gl(2|2)(2)k modulo the Z4-outer automorphism, the CFT has central charge -2.展开更多

The Hamiltonian of this model is diagonalized by means of Bogliubov transformations and by the inversion symmetry of the optical lattice, the energy spectrum of this system is obtained. From She energy gap of the excitation spectrum, the quantum phase transition condition is obtained and it is determined by the competition between the interatomic repulsions and the tunnel coupling. It is found that there exists an ordinary fluid phase when taking the zero wave-vector limit.展开更多
