The vibration equation and boundary conditions of the free-free axially moving beam are derived using Hamilton's principle. Furthermore, the linearized equations are set up based on Galerkinl s method for the ap- proximation solution. Finally, three influencing factors on the vibration frequency of the beam are considered: (1) The axially moving speed. The first order natural frequency decreases as the axial velocity increases, so there is a critical velocity of the axially moving beam. (2) The mass loss. The changing of the mass density of some part of the beam increases the beam natural frequencies. (3) The thermal effect.' The temperature increase will decrease the beam elastic modulus and induce the vibration frequencies descending.展开更多

Two bending vibration modes with orthogonality and one longitudinal vibration mode are excited in the stator by three groups of piezoelectric ceramic elements. The combinations of any one bending mode and the longitudinal mode mentioned above push the slider to move linearly in direction x or y. Some key issues for improving the motor output properties and efficiency are given. They include selection of the vibration modes, consistency of the modal frequencies, placement of the piezoelectric ceramic elements and the supporting plane, setting of pre-pressure, and influence of interfering modes.展开更多

The concept of the new typical motor is based on the combination of a longitudinal and two bending modes. The construction and the operational principle of motor are described, and the elliptical motion of the driving point of the actuator is proved. Meanwhile, a prototype linear motor is designed by using the finite element method (FEM) and is constructed for experiments. The vibration modes are tested with the laser doppler vibrometer (PSV-300F), and the experimental results prove that the design requirements on the mode shape of the actuator and nature frequency are satisfied. The test run of the motor indicates that the operational principle of the motor and the design results are correct, and the output properties are also tested.展开更多

METHODSA retrospective study of incontinent patients who underwent anal physiology (AP) was performed. AP results and Cleveland Clinic Continence Scores (CCCS) were extracted. An anal physiology score (APS) was developed using maximum resting pressures (MRP), anal canal length (ACL), internal and external sphincter defects and pudendal terminal motor latency. Univariate associations between each variable, APS and CCCS were assessed. Multiple regression analyses were performed. RESULTSOf 508 (419 women) patients, 311 had both APS and CCCS measured. Average MRP was 51 mmHg (SD 23.2 mmHg) for men and 39 mmHg (19.2 mmHg) for women. Functional ACL was 1.7 cm for men and 0.7 cm for women. Univariate analyses demonstrated significant associations between CCCS and MRP (P = 0.0002), ACL (P = 0.0006) and pudendal neuropathy (P < 0.0001). The association between APS and CCCS was significant (P < 0.0001) but accounted for only 9.2% of the variability in CCCS. Multiple regression showed that the variables most useful in predicting CCCS were external sphincter defect, pudendal neuropathy and previous pelvic surgery, but only improving the scores predictive ability to 12.5%. CONCLUSIONThis study shows that the ability of AP tests to predict continence scores improves when considered collectively, but that a constructed summation model before and after multiple regression is poor at predicting the variability in continence scores.展开更多

This paper describes two ways photogrammetric techniques are being used. First, photogrammetric data of laboratory testing is being used to correlate energy input and support deformation. This information can be used to infer remaining support toughness after ground deformation events. This technique is also demonstrated in a field application.Second, field photogrammetric data is compared to crackmeter data from a deep underground mine.Accuracies were found to average 8 mm,but have produced results within 0.2 mm of true displacement,as measured by crackmeters. Application of these techniques consists of monitoring overall fault activity by monitoring multiple points around the crackmeter. A case study is provided in which a crackmeter is clearly shown to have provided insufficient information regarding overall fault ground deformation.Photogrammetry is proving to be a useful ground monitoring tool due to its unobtrusiveness and ease of use.展开更多

However, some studies have shown that an appropriate period of eccentric exercise training resulted in EIMD while promoted heart muscle fiber hypertrophy and corresponding muscle growth faster than exercise training, and there are the typical " repetitive training effect" , ie after a period of the EIMD recovery, the muscle' s injury or delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) caused by the same movement is significantly reduced. So its deep study could help to guide the athlete to avoid or mitigate the negative effects which brought by EIMD, while could help to further clarify the process of the body to adapt to exercise training or mechanism.展开更多
