In the method, the true negative region (TNR) definitely containing no microcalcification clusters (MCCs) is screened out, thus obtaining ROIs, The strategy consists of three steps: (1) the mammogram is partitioned into a set of non-overlapping blocks with an equal size, and for each block, five statistical features are computed, (2) negative blocks are screened out by the threshold method through rough analyses, (3) the more accurate analysis is done by the cost-sensitive support vector machine to eliminate the block definitely containing no MCCs, Experimental results on real mammograms show that 81.71% of TNRs can be screened out by the proposed method.展开更多

The extended edge analysis method detects two ver...This paper proposes a method which uses the extended edge analysis to supplement the inaccurate edge information for better vehicle detection during vehicle detection. The extended edge analysis method detects two vertical edge items, which are the borderlines of both sides of the vehicle, by extending the horizontal edges inaccurately due to the illumination or noise existing on the image. The proposed method extracts the horizontal edges with the method of merging edges by using the horizontal edge information inside the Region of Interest (ROI), which is set up on the pre-processing step. The bottona line is determined by detecting the shadow regions of the vehicle from the extracted hoodzontal edge one. The general width of the vehicle detecting and the extended edge analyzing methods are carried out side by side on the bottom line of the vehicle to determine width of the vehicle. Finally, the finmal vehicle is detected through the verification step. On the road image with conaplicate background, the vehicle detecting method based on the extended edge analysis is more efficient than the existing vehicle detecting method which uses the edge information. The excellence of the proposed vehicle detecting method is confirmed by carrying out the vehicle detecting experiment on the complicate road image.展开更多

First...To meet the requirement of high-quality transmission of videos captured by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) with low bandwidth, a novel rate control (RC) scheme based on region-of-interest (ROI) is proposed. First, the ROI information is sent to the encoder with the latest high efficient video coding (HEVC) standard to generate an ROI map. Then, by using the ROI map, bit allocation methods are developed at frame level and large coding unit (LCU) level, to avoid inaccurate bit allocation produced by camera movement. At last, by using a better robustness R-2 model, the quantization parameter (QP) for each LCU is calculated. The experimental results show that the proposed RC method can get a lower bitrate error and a higher quality for reconstructed video by choosing appropriate pixel weight on the HEVC platform.展开更多

In this paper, we introduce ...In recent years, the transportation system has been faced by increasing challenge in congestion and inefficiency, and research in traffic network has become a significant area of interest. In this paper, we introduce a dynamic-information-based (DIB) queueing strategy into network traffic model under the efficient routing strategy. DIB makes a packet with higher priority to be delivered if there are less packets travelling along its path from the current node to the destination. It is found that, compared with the traditional first-in-first-out (FIFO) queueing strategy, DIB can effectively bMance the traffic load of the system via delaying packets to be delivered to congested nodes. Although the network capacity has no obvious changes, some other indexes which reflect transportation efficiency are efficiently improved in the congestion state. Besides, extensive simulation results and discussions are provided to explain the phenomena. The results may provide novel insights for research on traffic systems.展开更多
