本文围绕环境类卓越工程师人才培养目标,针对现有环境工程专业教学过程中重专业基础教育轻实践教育的现状,在传统教学方法基础上,以增加综合性案例及结合实际工程项目教学为基础,利用科研及工程反哺基础教学;加强校外实习实践基地建设,开展工程化实践教学,使学生直接参与项目的设计、分析和研究中,构建与创新了面向工程化特色的环境专业教学方法。

Empirical study on cooperative learning approach to College oral English teaching

As a creative and effective teaching method adopted by many countries, cooperative learning is one of the most widespread and fruitful areas in modern education theory. With the introduction of the concept of cooperative learning among College oral English teaching, students could undergo all-round training in English proficiency, cooperative ability, self-learning ability and sense of competition. This paper mainly focuses on how to make full use of cooperative leaning in College oral English teaching, and tries to verify that cooperative leaning is a practical and effective teaching mode which could enhance the College oral English classroom teaching quality.

The Use of Metaphors in Scientific Texts in English： A Proposal for Improving Reading Competence

Understanding discipline-specific texts in English is a basic requirement for science students, who must develop their content knowledge and language skills. Particularly, interesting is the fact that the language of science is characterized by the use of figurative language, which appeals to the common knowledge of the world, mainly to explain, clarify, and describe intricate concepts. Metaphors are helpful for lexicalizing new concepts and meanings or extending the meanings of pre-existing words. The analysis of tropes as a means to improve foreign language learners＇ reading competence is a rather novel teaching practice in ESP （English for Specific Purposes）, implemented at the University of Rio Cuarto, Argentina. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to explain the theoretical basis for teaching and developing metaphorical competence in ESP classes as a means of providing an intellectually stimulating alternative approach, and to present some teaching ideas and activities designed to familiarize students with the use of metaphorical language in scientific discourse in order to enhance their reading competence.

Developing Pragmatic Competence in EFL Speaking Classes： From Theory to Practice

Fostering students＇ pragmatic competence in ESL/EFL classrooms has been the subject of a large number of studies over the last several decades. This paper will examine the importance of pragmatic competence in L2 spoken communication and investigate factors leading to pragmatic failures. It will also discuss possible ways to help foster students＇ pragmatic competence in EFL speaking classes.

Educational Practices in the Model of Music Learning Theory of E. Edwin Gordon： An Observational Research

This paper analyzes the supervision activity, to which educators and teachers enrolled with AIGAM （Gordon Italian Association for the Musical Learning） are subject to every year and intends to verify the application of those principles expressed in the learning model of the MLT （Music Learning Theory） developed by educational psychologist E. Edwin Gordon （1989, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2007） and promoted internationally by various institutions and organizations specifically accredited. It describes the influence of the videotaped supervision on the process, functions of monitoring, and evaluation of educational practices, starting with an empirical model that has guided the interventions in a study of supervision on training aimed at consolidating and developing professional skills in music education in early childhood. This paper sought to understand： the kind of practices, interactions, communications developing during an educational actions, the existence of a consistent relationship between the principles expressed in the MLT and their application, the type and benefits of supervision performed by of video recording on stakeholders in terms of change in professional behavior, and finally whether the active supervision could be comparable with other kinds of approaches.

（Re）Constructing Pedagogical Knowledge in English as a Foreign Language Teacher Education Courses

English language teaching in the post-method condition demands the preparation of critical professionals capable of developing their teaching practice to enhance their pupils＇ language learning process. These professionals should also be able to recognize their prior knowledge as a potential tool to teach and to act autonomously in different educational contexts. Therefore, pre-service teacher education courses need to provide favorable conditions for teacher candidates to engage in reflective practice in order to foster continuous professional development. The main goal of this paper is to discuss the complexity of the pedagogical knowledge （re）construction process in an English as a foreign language （EFL） teacher education course, attempting to understand prospective teachers＇ pedagogical actions and strategies used to cope with classroom problems in their teaching practice. For this reason, some examples of this dynamic process, obtained by class recordings and reflective sessions with future teachers were examined. Results indicated that through self-assessment and reflection, stimulated by these sessions, student-teachers were able to recognize problems in their teaching procedures, as well as analyze their teaching practice and （re）construct their pedagogical knowledge, favoring their students＇ language learning process and their own teaching approach.

Making full use of action research in EFLT

Since 1970s, action research is well claimed in education. This article tries to give a brief introduction of some major relevant information about action research, and then it explores the significance of adopting action research in EFLT. Moreover, it proposes a possible way, namely collaborative action research in EFLT.

Experimental Vehicles Program Aides in Innovative Hands-on Learning Experiences

The EVP （experimental vehicles program） was created in 2004 as an umbrella program for five different undergraduate experimental vehicle design teams. These projects consist of the Solar Vehicle, Moonbuggy, Baja SAE （sina app engine）, Formula SAE and Solar Boat. The goal of the EVP is to foster undergraduate student development through hands-on construction of experimental vehicles with the guidance of faculty mentors and partnerships with both national and international industry leaders. Each EVP project performs a vital function in the professional development of students. The projects provide a forgiving environment in which students can test their classroom knowledge in a real-world setting and learn important skills such as leadership, effective communication and working as a team member. Furthermore, the students in the EVP develop highly versatile and qualified skill sets that will allow them to fill various positions within the workplace. In the past, 90% of EVP graduates have been able to obtain highly regarded national and international positions upon graduation due to their real-world experience gained throughout their involvement in the EVP. Each year the EVP sponsors up to 60 interdisciplinary students that come together in peer-led teams to combine and expand upon their classroom knowledge in building innovative vehicles. The successes of the MTSU （Middle Tennessee State University） EVP have been recognized by becoming the national model for hands-on engineering education; helping engineering students take classroom knowledge and apply it to real-world situations. Students work to design, construct, and test novel vehicle designs for participation in national and international competitions. Due to the competitive nature of each of the events, students must use cutting edge technology and design methods in order to create the best entries possible. Often times, this means creating partnerships with industry leaders who help mentor the students from the design conception, the fabrication through the manufacturing of each vehicle.

Developing Effective Teaching of Listening Practices in the College English Course —— ＂Let Listening Teachers of English See Trees and See the Forest as well＂

This paper begins with an analysis of the difficulties and problems in teaching listening to EFL students. To deal with these issues, it outlines three teaching procedures and describes the unique features and tasks in each stage of teaching. Teachers should be able to identify what technical and procedural issues are involved in their teaching. The authors point out that listening should be task-oriented and accompanied with effective means of evaluation. The paper ends with a discussion of the part of the role-playing and the interactive activities in the listening process and the student engagement.

Taking Comprehensive Practice Activities as the Carrier to Improve College English Teaching Efficiency

The so-called comprehensive practice activities refer to that under teachers＇ guidance, students conduct independent comprehensive learning activities, and in activities, students can train practice ability, organically combining theory knowledge and practice knowledge together, in order to have a learning and practice effect. In current college English teaching, it exists module, single and dogmatic and a series of disadvantage trends, taking comprehensive practice activities as the carrier to improve college English teaching efficiency, which has a multiplier effect. Analysis of life-based teaching pattern towards college English

No longer limited to the classroom, English teaching is now using a more open teaching mode. As teachers, we want to use every opportunity to help students broaden environment for English learning and using, trying to find a life-based teaching pattern that using is learning and learning is using. As a result, English teaching can integrated with real-life, creating the live-based teaching atmosphere for students to immerse them. The pattern encourages students to subtly become infected with classroom English teaching which built by the concept of life, combining innovative spirit and practical ability and truly reflects the communicative function in English when students come to the society.

FROM TEACHER GROUP TO LEARNING COMMUNITY:TOWARDS AN INTEGRATED FRAMEWORK FOR STUDYING COLLEGE ENGLISH TEACHERS' PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Among the research of language teachers' professional development in the course of reform,most studies take a psychological or cognitive approach and largely neglect the social element in a teacher's professional growth.This paper,therefore,is intended to build up a theoretical and analytical framework for a large-scale on-going study that looks at college English teachers' professional development from a sociological and anthropological perspective.The notion of learning community constitutes the core of the theoretical framework that orients the author's understanding of the tensions and conflictions in teachers' socialization into the teacher community within the context of radical change.In particular,the literature on three dimensions of the learning process is critically reviewed,i.e.personal dimension,interpersonal dimension and organizational dimension.

A Study on the Classification and the‘Catching’of the‘Arrived Qi’in Acupuncture

This essay studies the phenomenon of‘obtaining of qi’in acupuncture.Combined with clinical practice,the authors think that it was a habitual misunderstanding in the past to equate‘needling sensation’to ‘obtaining of qi’in acupuncture practice.The two concepts are different and are related with each other.The authors have also classified the phenomenon of‘obtaining of qi’according to its depth in the skin layer. Based on the research achievements in neuroscience,the authors propose the study on‘catching’the specific cerebrations,so as to reveal the essence of‘obtaining of qi’.
