However, very few studies in adults have been strictly designed to address: whether the prevalence and the titre of organ and NOSA in serial samples of HCV-treated patients were affected by IFN-α, and the impact of these autoantibodies on the treatment outcome of HCV patients. METHODS: We investigated whether parietal cell autoantibodies (PCA) and/or NOSA were related with treatment-outcome in 57 HCV-treated patients (19 sustained-responders, 16 relapsers, 22 non-responders). Serum samples from patients were studied blindly at three time-points (entry, end of treatment and end of followup). For the detection of autoantibodies we used indirect immunofluorescence, commercial and in-house ELISAs. RESULTS: Sustained biochemical response was associated with ANA-negativity at the entry or end of follow up. Sustained virological response was associated with the absence of PCA at the entry. Combined virological and biochemical sustained response (CVBSR) was associated with the absence of antinuclear antibodies (ANA) at the end of follow up and PCA-negativity at the entry. Sustained virological and CVBSR were associated with a reduction of ANA and SMA titers during therapy. CONCLUSION: Although PCA and/or NOSA seropositivity should not affect the decision to treat HCV patients, the presence of some of them such as ANA, PCA and SMA before treatment or their increase during therapy with IFN- a may predict a worse response, indicating the need for a closer monitoring during treatment of HCV patients positive for these autoantibodies.展开更多

When the red variant is cultured in ponds in China, its body color changes from red to celadon in 3–6 months. The effects of water depth and substrate color on the growth and body color of this animal were investigated. Juveniles of red A. japonicus were cultured in cages suspended at a range of water depths(20,50,100,150 and 200 cm). The specific growth rate of red sea cucumbers was significantly higher in animals cultured at deeper water layers compared with those grown at shallowers. Body weights were greatest for sea cucumbers cultured at a depth of 150 cm and their survival rates were highest at a depth of 200 cm. A scale to evaluate the color of red sea cucumbers(R value) was developed using a Pantone standard color card. All stocked animals in the 9-month trial retained a red color, however the red body color was much more intense in sea cucumbers cultured at shallower depths, while animals suspended in deeper layers became pale. In a separate trial,A. japonicus were cultured in suspended cages with seven different colored substrates. Substrate color had a significant effect on the growth and body-color of red A. japonicus. The yield were greatest for A. japonicus cultured on a yellow substrate, followed by green > white > orange > red > black and blue. All sea cucumbers in the 7-month trial retained a red color, although the red was most intense(highest R value) in animals cultured on a blue substrate and pale(lowest R value) for animals cultured on a green substrate.展开更多

However, existing approaches to delegation in IT systems are limited in their usability, flexibility, and capability to implement least privilege. The result is that delegation is either not implemented or is implemented informally (e.g., by sharing credentials [passwords or hardware tokens] between users), resulting in serious security concerns and a lack of accountability. This paper describes a methodology for delegation based on the persona concept. A persona is a special category of user that embodies only delegated privileges, and which is explicitly assumed only after the "real" human user taking on that persona explicitly chooses it, This paper describes the persona delegation framework in the context of a large enclave-based architecture currently being implemented by a major enterprise. The creation of a persona solves a lot of downstream problems by allowing the persona to be treated like any other entity in the system. That is, identity, authentication, authorization, and other security processes already know how to handle an entity of this type. Benefits of the framework include increased flexibility to handle a number of different delegation business scenarios, decreased complexity of the solution, and greater accountability with only a modest amount of additional infrastructure required.展开更多
Objective: To observe different efficacies of low-frequency electroacupuncture(EA) on pancreatic endocrine system in male and female patients with simple obesity due to spleen deficiency-related dampness. Methods:...Objective: To observe different efficacies of low-frequency electroacupuncture(EA) on pancreatic endocrine system in male and female patients with simple obesity due to spleen deficiency-related dampness. Methods: A total of 80 simple obesity patients were assigned to a male group(n=37) and a female group(n=43). Both groups received a 30-minute low-frequency EA at Yinlingquan(SP 9), Sanyinjiao(SP 6), Zusanli(ST 36), Fenglong(ST 40), Quchi(LI 11), Tianshu(ST 25), Zhongwan(CV 12), Shuifen(CV 9), Qihai(CV 6) and Guanyuan(CV 4). The treatment was done once a day, and 10 times made up a course of treatment. Patients in both groups were treated for 2 courses. Then the changes in body mass index(BMI), serum insulin, insulin antibodies and leptin level in the two groups were observed and analyzed. Results: After treatment, the BMI, serum insulin, insulin antibodies and leptin levels were significantly reduced in both groups(P〈0.01 or P〈0.05); the BMI and serum insulin concentration were more significantly reduced in the male group than those in the female group(both P〈0.01); and the leptin level was more significantly reduced in the female group than that in the male group(P〈0.01). Conclusion: EA can significantly regulate BMI and pancreatic endocrine system in both men and women with simple obesity; however, there is a gender difference: better effect for men in reducing BMI and serum insulin and better effect for women in reducing serum leptin level.展开更多
