The concern of this paper is to make a general review on ELV management process and present a model for ELV management on the basis of green manufacturing so as to reduce the environmental impact and minimize the resources loss due to the ELVs. The various phases of vehicle life cycle starting from design, manufacturing and utilization, occurrence of ELV and then the storage, depollution, dismantling and finally the shredding and post shredder material processing phases of ELV for the resources recovery, all of these phases need to be considered to give totality to the model, which makes end-of-life vehicles management more benign for environment, and more efficient for the usage of resources.展开更多

Due to high dynamic and resource limitation in IoV, how to schedule the vehicular beacon broadcast is challenging, especially in dense scenarios. In this paper, we investigate the beacon broadcast scheduling problem considering the Age of Information(AoI). We first propose an algorithm minimizing the expected sum of AoI considering the limited communication resource and vehicle mobility. Then the performance of the proposed algorithm is analyzed. With the proposed algorithm, the optimal solution can be obtained under certain conditions. Extensive simulations are conducted to verify the efficiency, effectiveness and fairness of the proposed solution.展开更多

The workshop is based on a set of theoretical concepts taken from: psychology, play therapy, and literacy theory which have been blended together to form a set of teaching approaches and lesson plan ideas that can be used in Literacy/English classes. The paper will also discuss the value of using "Story Sacks" to develop and raise levels of comprehension and understanding in extensive reading and reading programs. The application of "Soft Toy Theory" could also provide a positive social-psychological affect on the students. It is designed to creating bonding between teacher and student and student and student and to raise levels of self-esteem and enable the teachers to be able to access the thoughts and feelings of a child or young adu/t which can often be hard to discern from traditional direct question and answer sessions. "Soft Toy Theory" is a term that the author has adopted herself for using play, creativity, and art resources and soft toys to create dialogues in the Kindergarten and Elementary classroom: It is even possible to extend the use "Soft Toy Theory" to middle school, high school, and adult classrooms if the resources and topics and "tone" and tenor of teaching are appropriately adapted. Soft Toy Theory assumes that soft toys can include: actual soft toys, art resources, and other play resources: such as, sand, water, puppets, masks and clay. Story Sacks employ much of the theory that supports "soft toy usage" within the classroom. Story Sacks aim to provide inspiring resources whilst encouraging enjoyment and a greater comprehension of "real" books or "graded" readers. Additionally, Story Sacks can support extensive reading in the school and at home, and are a useful adjunct to Soft Toy Theory and supporting literacy activities in any classroom.展开更多

The rhythm of construction has been such that very few analyses have been carried out and those that have were only partially done because the main participants involved had ulterior motives which impeded their having a critical and independent opinion of the projects carried out. Within this framework, the Delphi methodology presents itself as a very useful instrument, as the intrinsic advantages that it has added to the characteristic that the experts who participate in the project can remain anonymous without detracting value from the conclusions obtained as these are grouped together according to their worth.展开更多

The outer covering of coconut, coconut shell, is the most abundant in the countries of its plantation and enormous use. Utilization of agricultural waste (coconut shell) in the production of activated carbon potentially leads to produce a highly effective adsorbent generated from low cost raw materials that are available in huge quantity as renewable resources. At present coconut shell is not in use as valuable entity due to which disposal and ultimate environmental problems are faced. In this study coconut shells were impregnated with phosphoric acid and chemically activated at 450 C. The potential to remove chromium (VI) from aqueous solution by using activated coconut shells was investigated by batch experiment. The various sorption parameters i.e pH, sorbent dose, sorbate concentration, agitation time and agitation speed were optimized. The sorption of Cr (VI) onto activated carbon, developed from coconut shell, at pH 2 was achieved 81.25%. The best optimum conditions were obtained when 0.75 gm of sorbent was agitated at 150 rpm with 60 mg/L of sorbate for 40 min. Activated coconut shells has potential to be a good resource material for effective removal of chromium (VI) of low concentration from wastewater.展开更多

China faces unprecedented opportunities for development, although there are many challenges it must face, It has become a strategic choice for all automotive enterprises to implement supply chain management in order to achieve competitive advantages. At present, most researches on supply chain partnerships have been carried out based on enterprises in developed countries. Very few theoretical and empirical studies have been based on developing countries, and in particular, only a few scholars have examined supply chain partnerships in China. Based on the joint ventures, this paper is a review of partner theories and process of partner relationship. With respect to the supply chain partnership strategy and process and partners' capability literature, there is limited research on the special background such as joint ventures or Chinese automotive industry. Resource allocation problem has a great impact on the system performance. However, conventional resource allocation approaches in cellular network cannot be directly applied to this kind of special communication environment. A multidomain resource allocation strategy was proposed in the orthogonal frequency-division multiple access(OFDMA) of high-speed. By analyzing the effect of Doppler shift, sub-channels, antennas, time slots and power were jointly considered to maximize the energy efficiency under the constraint of total transmission power. For the purpose of reducing the computational complexity, noisy chaotic neural network algorithm was used to solve the above optimization problem. Simulation results showed that the proposed resource allocation method had a better performance than the traditional strategy.展开更多

Przewalski's gazelle is a cluster mating animal whereby female groups, including juveniles, travel to and from their resting grounds along fixed routes and dominant males stand on or near these travel routes during rut. To explain rut patterns in male ga- zelles, we tested predictions arising from the "Resource-based Hypothesis" and "Female Traffic Version of the Hotspot Hypothe- sis". We marked the location of each rut stand and female travel route, measured food availability in each rut stand and recorded the mating opportunities of rut stand owners. We also conducted a field experiment to force female groups to change their daily travel route, and observed whether males abandon their original rut stands and shift their rut stands to new travel routes of females during the 3rdrut. We found that: (1) male gazelle defending rut stands closer to a female travel route had a higher chance of mat- ing; (2) food resources within rut stands had no effect on mating opportunities of the rut stand owner; (3) when the female travel route was obstructed, female groups changed grazing sites, and all males abandoned their original rut stands and defended new rut stands along the new female travel route. In conclusion, the location of rut stands in relation to female travel routes is the ultimate factor for consolidating mating opportunities in male gazelle, supporting the "Female Route Version of Hotspot Hypothesis展开更多

In order to manage all the traffic videos automatically, in this paper, a distributed real-time auto- surveillance system is presented. The freeway traffic videos are taken as input video from Pan Tilt Zoom (PTZ) camera, and then produces an analysis of the states and activity of the vehicles in the region of interested (ROI), if there is any abnormal instance, an alarm and corresponding traffic video are sent to awake surveillants by Ethernet. To achieve this functionality, our system relies on three main procedures. The first one initializes the system. It detects the ROI of the scene, and performs the camera calibration to remove the perspective effect of the incoming image. The second one segments moving vehicles from the images, eliminate shadow and tracks them real-time. It uses a set of methods to obtain the background of the image, extracts the moving regions and tracks these moving regions by matching them between frames of the video sequence to obtain high-level information such as color, size, velocity, and trajectories of moving vehicles. In the third procedure, activities of vehicles are analyzed based on a series of preset situations which would happen on freeway. The detail information of each vehicle and the global statistical information are checked to find out any abnormal instance, and then triggered an alarm. We present details of the system, together with experiment results which demonstrate the accuracy and time responses.展开更多
