Although the broader manufacturing sector has benefited from automation, several challenges exist within the Australian underground coal industry which makes it difficult to fully exploit these technologies. At the University of Wollongong a series of reprogrammable electromechanical manipulators have been designed to overcome these challenges and automatically handle the installation of roof and rib containment consumables on a continuous miner. The automated manipulation removes personnel from hazards in the immediate face area, particularly those associated with working in a confined and unstable working environment in close proximity to rotating and moving equipment. In a series of above ground trials the automated system was successfully demonstrated without human intervention and proven to be capable of achieving cycle times at a rate of 10 m per operating hour, consistent with that required to support high capacity longwall mines. The trials also identified a number of refinements which could further improve both cycle times and system reliability when considering the technology for underground use. The results have concluded that conventional manual handling practices on a continuous miner can be eliminated, and that the prototypes have significantly reduced the technical risk in proceeding to a full underground trial.展开更多

In order to determine the specificity of the structure of the tested anthropological dimensions, the researchers examined 200 judo and karate athletes, members ofjudo and karate clubs of Serbia (about 100 judokas and about 100 karatekas), aged 18 to 27 years. To assess motor abilities, the researchers used 16 motor tests selected according to the structural model, defined as a mechanism for movement structuring, mechanism for functional synergies and tonus regulation, mechanism for excitation intensity regulation, and a mechanism for excitation duration regulation. All the data in this research were processed at the Multidisciplinary Research Center, Faculty of Sport and Physical Education, University of Pristina, through the system of data processing software programs developed by Popovic. The algorithms and programs realized in the research are fully presented, and the results of the programs are analyzed.展开更多

The location of the bus stop in the on/off-ramp (thereafter downstream or upstream case) is discussed. The simulation results show that in the two ramp systems, the reasons for traffic congestions are different. In the on-ramp system, buses and cars coming from on-ramp interweave each other, while in the off-ramp system, buses interweave with cars exiting to off-ramp. Thus, in the on-ramp (off-ramp) system, the upstream (downstream) bus stop is helpful to reduce the interweaving situation. Moreover, the negative effect will disappear when the distance between the bus stop and the on/off-ramp is more than 20 cells (i.e. 150 m). These qualitative findings may provide some suggestions on traffic management and optimization.展开更多

In this paper, traffic flow cellular automaton models for four-lane highway system with two opposing directions under the above two modes are established considering car and truck mixed running. Through computer numerical simulating, the fundamental diagrams with different parameters are obtained, and after the analysis of density-flux diagrams, the variation discipline of flux with traffic density under different control models is gained. The results indicate that, compared with lane-control, utilization ratio of road can be further improved with speed-control when the truck number increases. The research result is of great significance for reasonable providing theoretical guidance for highway traffic control.展开更多
