The data information transfer and time marching strategies between computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and computational structural dynamics (CSD) play crucial roles on the aeroelastic analysis in a time domain. An improved CFD/CSD coupled system is designed, including an interpolation method and an improved loosely coupled algorithm. The interpolation method based on boundary element method (BEM) is developed to transfer aerodynamic loads and structural displacements between CFD and CSD grid systems, it can be universally used in fluid structural interaction solution by keeping energy conservation. The improved loosely coupled algo-rithm is designed, thus it improves the computational accuracy and efficiency. The new interface is performed on the two-dimensional (2-D) extrapolation and the aeroelastie response of AGARD445.6 wing. Results show that the improved interface has a superior accuracy. 展开更多

Additionally, the traditional "grammar-translation" approach has been criticized and become overlooked, while its counterpart, the "communicative approach", has become increasingly popular. The result is that "language communication" is being emphasized rather than "basic language core theories" incorporating grammar rules and this might not be totally advisable. The author analyses the present educational situation pertaining to college English education and recommends responsive strategies and an improved response towards the need for grammar education. 展开更多

Recent and constant demands for greater power densities and smaller sizes of electronic systems have stimulated the growth of new designs of different passive heat transfer methods such as heat pipes. Particularly, OHPs (Oscillating Heat Pipes) are relatively novel devices, capable of removing high heat rates over long and short distances with not much temperature drop. This study concentrates on the design, building and assembling a test rig in order to analyse the flow pattern ofdeionised water through a 5 turns flat plate oscillating heat pipe under different heat inputs, which was made in the school of engineering and materials science of the Queen Mary University of London by two energy M.Sc. students. The filling ratio of the water is 40%. Furthermore an experimental study on the OHP thermal performance is carried out in order to examine the effects of different surface wet conditions: super hydrophilic, hydrophilic and cleaned brass. It is demonstrated the formation of liquid slugs and vapour plugs of the water along the channels. The experimental results showed that the hydrophilic surface tends to be more energy efficient. The heat transfer performance of the super-hydrophilic and hydrophilic is higher than brass by 5-12% and 15-20% respectively. 展开更多

Multi-converter approach based on the series and parallel connection topology of modular power converters has been proposed to realize higher power density DC-DC converter. The availability of the proposed approach has been verified through the design consideration and the experiment. The design consideration for two DC-DC converters has been carried out by utilizing the power converter exact loss simulator, and the design parameters to maximize their power densities have been extracted taking the trade-off between the conversion efficiency and the power density into account. The prototypes of a 2,400 W, 256-384 V boost chopper using SiC-MOSFETs and a 300 W, 32-48 V GaN-FETs boost chopper have been also developed based on the design. The SiC chopper achieved the efficiency of 97.8% and the power density of 12,8 W/cm3, and the GaN chopper accomplished 98.9% and 18.6 W/cm3 in the experiment. These results show the validity of the design and the availability of the proposed approach. The multi-converter approach enables the cost reduction of the modular power converters, and contributes to realizing the widespread use of power electronics converters in the future 380 V DC distribution system. 展开更多

Due to their efficient absorption of light, short distances for minority carriers to travel, high surface-to-volume ratios, and the availability of scalable synthesis methods, they provide a pathway to address the low cost-to-power requirements for widescale adaptation of solar energy conversion technologies. Here we highlight recent progress in our group towards implementation of NW components as photovoltaic and photoelectrochemical energy conversion devices. An emphasis is placed on the unique properties of these one-dimensional (1D) structures, which enable the use of abundant, low-cost materials and improved energy conversion efficiency compared to bulk devices. 展开更多

It has been extended to other fields including acoustics, thermotics, and electrics. Taking advantage of the transformation electrics method, we demonstrate that the square-shaped cloak can guide electric current around the cloaked region smoothly without perturbing the exterior electric current. And the cylindrical rotator can rotate the electric current.Inside the enclosed domain of the rotator, the electric current from the outside will appear as if it is coming from a different angle. Finally, the related experimental realizations and potential applications are also discussed. 展开更多
