The effect of flow passage length in the die cavity and extrusion wheel velocity on the shape of aluminum sheath during the continuous extrusion sheathing process was analyzed by using finite element methods based on software DEFORM 3D and experimentally validated. The results show that by increasing the flow passage length, the velocity of metal at the cross-section of sheath tends toward uniformity, the values of the bending angles of sheath gradually approach the ideal value of zero and the cross-section exhibits a better shape. The extrusion wheel velocity has negligible effects on the bending shape and cross-section of the sheath product when a long flow passage is used. 展开更多

The micro gear mold for powder injection molding was made by electroforming process of Fe-Ni and Fe-Ni-W alloys using UV-lithography process. Kinetics and activation energies in electroplating of both alloys were investigated to determine the best process conditions. Fe content within electrodeposited Fe-Ni alloys increased with the increase of rotating disk speed and the decrease of temperature and it is considered from the calculated activation energy of iron content that the rate determining step is controlled by mass transfer. Iron content in Fe-Ni electrodeposit varied from 58.33% to 70.45% by increasing current density from 2 to 6 A/drn2. Also, iron content in Fe-Ni-W electrodeposit increased from 59.32% to 70.15%, nickel content decreased from 27.86% to 17.07% and the content of tungsten was almost consistent in the range of 12.78%-12.82% although the current density increases from 1.5 to 5 A/dm^2. For the electroforming of micro gear mold, SU-8 mandrel with 550 μm in diameter and 400 μm in height was prepared by UV-lithography processing. Subsequently, Fe-36Ni and Fe-20Ni-13W alloys micro gear molds were electroformed successfully. Surface hardness values of the electroformed micro molds were measured to be HV490 and HV645, respectively. 展开更多

An advanced simulation that considers the effect of wire vibrations was proposed for predicting accurately wear profiles of a die used in a wire-drawing process.The effect of wire vibrations,the changes in the wear profiles,and the generation of ringing during die approach were investigated by this simulation.Wire vibrations occurring between the die and the drum are governed by a partial differential equation called the wave equation,which is a function of the wire length,tension,density,and initial wire velocity.The wire-drawing process was simulated by the commercial code Abaqus FEA,and the die wear profiles were predicted by Archard’s wear model.The predicted profiles were compared with measured profiles of a worn drawing die after producing 5 t of AISI 1010 wire;the die was made of tungsten carbide with a Brinell hardness of HB 682.The profiles predicted by considering the effect of wire vibrations are in good agreement with the experimental data,indicating that the advanced simulation can be used to accurately predict the die wear profiles when ringing is observed during die approach. 展开更多

Influence of cutter diameter on meshing performance in spiral bevel gears

To evaluate the meshing performance, the accurate three-dimensional(3D) spiral bevel gear models are established through the Pro/E and MATLAB softwares, and the finite element analysis(FEA) methods are applied to the theoretical investigation of the influence of cutter diameter on meshing performance in spiral bevel gears. The results obtained show that the cutter diameter has a significant influence on spiral bevel gears' meshing performance, such as the contact area, contact pressure, bending stress, torsional stiffness and transmission error. 展开更多

Decoupling Control of Lateral Dynamics for 4WS Vehicle

An four wheel steering (4WS) feedback control system that simultaneously achieves both body sideslip angle and yaw rate responses always desirable regardless of changes in vehicle dynamics. Quantitative feedback theory (QFT) is offered as the main tool for designing the control law. Inverted decoupling is also employed to make multivariable quantitative feedback design easier. Various nonlinear analyses are carried out and show that the proposed control system is a robust decoupling controller which not only makes body sideslip angle and yaw rate of the vehicle track the desired reference input signals respectively, but also satisfies the requirement of robustness for the control system. The results also indicate that the control system can make it available to realize ideal lateral steering dynamics tracking for vehicles. 展开更多

To avoid this, it is important to predict the natural frequencies and modes of the end windings with finite elements. Due to the complex structure and unknown boundary conditions, the conventionally calculation of stator end windings has been very difficult and time consuming up to now. This paper describes the development of a full parameterized modeling tool, which allows a quick calculation of natural frequencies during the design phase of the generator. To keep the computing time low, it is important to find a way to get exact calculation results without detailed modeling of all pans. Additionally, special attention was paid to the active part, which has been replaced by spring-damper elements, and the determination of their stiffness via experimental modal analysis combined with finite element calculations. 展开更多

To reduce the difficulty of material filling into the top region of tooth in hot precision forging of gears using the alternative die designs, relief-cavity designs in different sizes were performed on the top of die tooth. The influences of the conventional process and relief-cavity designs on corner filling, workpiece stress, die stress, forming load and material utilization were examined. Finite element simulation for tooth forming, die stress and forming load using the four designs was performed. The material utilization was further considered, and the optimal design was determined. The tooth form and forming load in forging trials ensured the validity of FE simulation. Tooth accuracy was inspected by video measuring machine(VMM), which shows the hot forged accuracy achieves the level of rough machining of gear teeth. The effects of friction on mode of metal flow and strain distribution were also discussed. 展开更多

There are an estimated 1.19 million wheelchair users in Spain. People use wheelchairs for a variety of reasons, the most common one is paralysis from spinal cord injuries. Current estimates indicate there are around 5... There are an estimated 1.19 million wheelchair users in Spain. People use wheelchairs for a variety of reasons, the most common one is paralysis from spinal cord injuries. Current estimates indicate there are around 504,000 people alive in Spain with spinal cord injuries. Among other reasons for using wheelchairs are: fatigue from multiple sclerosis, muscle weakness from muscular dystrophy, lower limb spasticity from cerebral palsy, and missing limbs due to amputation. People who use wheelchairs may encounter a variety of obstacles at their workstations depending on their limitations. Some possible accommodations could be adjustable height desk or table for a person who cannot work comfortably at an existing desk, accessible filing system or office supplies, and frequently used materials on most accessible shelves or drawers for a person who cannot reach upper and lower shelves and drawers. This paper presents the graphical design of a workstation for wheelchair users, in this case, technical, anthropometric, ergonomic, aesthetics and scientists aspects have been analyzed. The design of composite structure conduct to explicit safety constraints applied to office furniture requirements kept continuously current and updated as part of innovation.
