In the range of average inlet velocity of 25.0 m/s to 55.0 m/s of diffusion tank, numerical simulations of diffusion tank were done. The results of numerical simulations of diffusion tank are shown as follows: ③ In cases of the inlet velocity range from 25.0 m/s to 55.0 m/s, and the angle range of rectifying airflow unit from 2.5° to 7.5°, the average value of pressure losses decreases to the minimum when the angle is 4.5°.② In cases of the inlet velocity of 35.0 m/s, the pressure loss of diffusion tank decreases to the minimum when the angle of rectifying airflow unit is 5.5°. ③ As far as there are different angles of rectifying airflow unit, pressure loss increases gradually along with the addition of inlet velocity.展开更多

Two arc functions are employed for controlling the internal and external angles. The separation process in the cyclone tube is calculated by using two-fluid model based on the Eulerian-Eulerian method. The results show that the structure with the internal outlet angle smaller than the external one is more beneficial to the separation performance. It is found that the small internal angle can help increase the swirl number, while the small external angle can help increase the friction coefficient. Several groups of numerical simulations are conducted for the air intake unit of the gas turbine in practice. When the internal outlet angle is 35° and the external outlet angle is 40°,the blade has sufficient cyclone strength and the separation rate of particles with diameters of 10—100 μm is between70%—98%. The small blade angle is more conducive to the separation of fine particles, leading to violent collision of large particles on the outer wall and reduction of separation efficiency. In addition, reducing the external angle is conducive to the discharge of large particles.展开更多

Calculations were carried out when various exit-lengths (meaning length differences between the two tubes) were used. Numerical results indicated that there exists a certain range of exit-length for the liquid-liquid flows to form stable and smooth interfaces, which requires that the exit-length should roughly be less than 5.6 times the outer tube diameter. In this range, interface instability is effectively restrained and the core fluid shows a phenomenon of die swell. When the exit-length is about 1.6 times the outer tube diameter, the core fluid has the greatest diameter size in the shell fluid. Velocity distributions at the outer tube exit favor formation of a continuous and stable core-shell structure.展开更多

The efficiency-flow curves and the characteristic curves were obtained for the pump for various operation conditions. The experiment results demonstrated that the pre-whirl regulation widened the high efficiency zone and improved the hydraulic performance for off-design conditions with the proper pre-whirl angle. The axial distance between the inlet guide vanes and the impeller inlet influenced the pre-whirl regulation effect of the inlet guide vanes with the best pre-whirl regulation effect obtained for an axial distance of 380 mm. These results showed that an appropriate axial distance between the inlet guide vanes and the impeller inlet can improve the fluid flow at the impeller entrance with pre-whirl regulation for centrifugal pumps.展开更多

The inlet guide vanes with different outlet angle are designed, which are mounted on the casing and located at the upstream of the impeller of the prototype fan. Both steady and unsteady flow simulations arc performed. The steady flow is simulated by the calculations of Navier-Stokes equa- tions coupled with RNG k-epsilon turbulence model, while the unsteady flow is computed with large eddy simu- lation. According to the theoretical analysis, the inlet guide vanes with outlet angle of 60° are regarded as the op- timal inlet guide vanes. The static characteristic experiment is carried out in a standard test rig and the aerody- namic noise is tested in a semi-anechoic room. Then, performances of the fan with optimal inlet guide vanes are compared with those of the prototype fan. The results show that there is reasonable agreement between the simu- lation results and the experimental data. It is found that the static characteristics of small axial flow fan is im- proved obviously after installing the optimal inlet guide vanes. Meanwhile, the optimal inlet guide vanes have effect on reducing noise at the near field, but have little effect on the noise at the far field.展开更多
