A 78-year-old man with a 12-h history of near syncope and painless hematochezia was admitted to our hos...We herein report the rare complication of sepsis caused by endoscopic clipping for colonic diverticular bleeding. A 78-year-old man with a 12-h history of near syncope and painless hematochezia was admitted to our hospital. Following the transfusion of 4 U of blood and continued hematochezia, a colonoscopy was performed. Active bleeding was seen as continuous arterial spurting from a single diverticulum located in the middle ascending colon. This diverticulum was seamed by four endoclips. The next day, the patient became febrile with a temperature of 39.2℃. Laboratory data included a white blood cell count of 18 100/mm3 and a C-reactive protein level of 3.4 mg/dL. He was diagnosed with sepsis since Escherichia coli was detected in the blood culture. Antibiotics were started. Four days later his fever had improved and laboratory data improved 9 d later.展开更多

The frequency synthesizer is designed for a frequency hopping ...In this paper we describe a full-integrated circuit containing all building blocks of a completed PLL-based synthesizer except for low pass filter(LPF). The frequency synthesizer is designed for a frequency hopping (FH) transceiver operating up to 1.5 GHz as a local oscillator. The architecture of Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO) is optimized to get better performance, and a phase noise of -111.85-dBc/Hz @ 1 MHz and a tuning range of 250 MHz are gained at a centre frequency of 1.35 GHz. A novel Dual-Modulus Prescaler(DMP) is designed to achieve a very low jitter and a lower power. The settling time of PLL is 80 μs while the reference frequency is 400 KHz.This monolithic frequency synthesizer is to integrate all main building blocks of PLL except for the low pass filter, with a maximum VCO output frequency of 1.5 GHz, and is fabricated with a 0.18 μm mixed signal CMOS process. Low power dissipation, low phase noise, large tuning range and fast settling time are gained in this design.展开更多
Microbial fuel cell(MFC)is a kind of promising clean power supply energy equipment,but serious nonlinearities and disturbances exist when the MFC runs,and it is an important topic to guarantee that the output voltage ...Microbial fuel cell(MFC)is a kind of promising clean power supply energy equipment,but serious nonlinearities and disturbances exist when the MFC runs,and it is an important topic to guarantee that the output voltage reaches the setting value quickly and smoothly.Regulating the feeding flow is an effective way to achieve this goal,and especially,the satisfactory results can be achieved by regulating anode feeding flow.In this work,a feedforward fuzzy logic PID algorithm is proposed.The fuzzy logic system is introduced to deal with the non-linear dynamics of MFC,and corresponding PID parameters are calculated according to defuzzification.The magnitude value of the current density is used to simulate the value of the external load.The simulation results indicate that the MFC output voltage can track the setting value quickly and smoothly with the proposed feedforward fuzzy logic PID algorithm.The proposed algorithm is more efficient and robust with respect to anti-disturbance performance and tracking accuracy than other three control methods.展开更多

OBJECTIVE To investigate the clinical characteristics of melanosis of the colon (MC) and its correlation with polypus and carcinoma of the large intestine. METHODS Clinical feature and colonoscopic findings of 156 M...OBJECTIVE To investigate the clinical characteristics of melanosis of the colon (MC) and its correlation with polypus and carcinoma of the large intestine. METHODS Clinical feature and colonoscopic findings of 156 MC patients were retrospectively analyzed. Final diagnosis of MC case was made after colonoscopic and pathological examination, and data of the case history was recorded. RESULTS The overall detection rate of MC was 1.12%, with 0.46% in males, 0.66% in females. An 82.69% of the patients suffered various constipations and had a history of taking cathartics. The clinical manifestation of total-colon melanosis occurred in 83.97% of the patients. There was no significant difference between the rate of concomitant polypus (27.56%) in the MC patients and the detection rate of polypus in the patients who underwent a synchronous colonoscopy (χ^2 = 1.205, P = 0.298). Also there was no significant difference between the detection rate of carcinoma of the large intestine (8.97%) in MC patients and the detection rate of the same disease in the patients who underwent synchronous colonoscopy (χ^2 = 0.268, P = 0.604). A logistic regression analysis has shown that the older the age of MC patients is, the more opportunities of MC and the concomitant polypus would occur. CONCLUSION MC may be related to constipations and a long-term administration of cathartics, among which total-colon melanosis ranks first in the cases. There is an earlier age of onset in the females, with a higher detection rate. The older the age of the patients is, the higher the detection rate of MC is, and the more possibility the onset of the concomitant polypus.展开更多
A new method to screen antibiotic combinations is demonstrated,which takes advantage of the logic-signal output of genetically engineered drug-resistant E.coli strains expressing different fluorescent proteins.Thirty-...A new method to screen antibiotic combinations is demonstrated,which takes advantage of the logic-signal output of genetically engineered drug-resistant E.coli strains expressing different fluorescent proteins.Thirty-six antibiotic combinations for nine antibiotics were investigated.The operation of different logic gates can reveal the susceptibility,resistance,or synergistic effect of the antibiotic combinations in a rapid(7–8 h versus 24–28 h for typical growth-based assays),simple,quantitative and high-throughput manner.This logic-signal-based output patterns provide the basis for novel and reliable screening of antibiotic combinations and help us to both gain insight into the mechanisms of multi-drug action.展开更多
