Sugar beet slices were treated b...Pulsed electric field is an innovative method for non-thermal food processing. The effects of pulsed electric field on cell disintegration and mass transfer in sugar beet were studied. Sugar beet slices were treated by various Field strengths (0.5-6 kV cm^-1), capacity of capacitors (0.5, 8 and 32 μF) and pulse numbers (1-100 pulses). The cell disintegration index and energy input for each treated sample was evaluated. The results showed that the cell membrane of PEF (Pulsed Electric Field) treated samples using 2 kV cm^-1, 8 μF after 20 pulses, and 3 kV cm1, 8 μF after 10 pulses were rapidly disintegrated in less than 1 min. Most important parameters during cell permeabilization were the total energy input followed by field strength. Energy efficiency index was defined as cell disintegration index per energy input unit. The maximum efficiency index was achieved using 2 kV cm^-1, 8 μF after 5 pulses. Comparison between PEF pretreatment and thermal method showed that large amount of sugar may be extracted after PEF pretreatment using field strength of 2 Kv cm^-1, 8μF in less than 10 min at ambient temperature. In.addition, the consumed energy for thermal treatment was approximately 20 to 50 times more than PEF pretreatment. Optimizing the field conditions in PEF treatment is an important factor to achieve high amount of sugar extraction from sugar beet.展开更多

While scouting for opportunities, it was found that Indonesian air services market is buoyant and promising where Indonesia has recently liberalized its open sky policies for inviting domestic as well as foreign investment. Time is appropriate for Indian government to negotiate on how India can participate in Indonesian domestic market and provide air services to its consumers. The paper tries to analyze how Indian private domestic airlines can enter into the markets of Indonesia and whether they would be able to provide such services. It further tries to examine that certain value addition services in terms of auxiliary air services are currently required for Indonesia. To that extent, how is India going to capitalize such opportunities by providing such competitive value addition services? Indonesia is currently witnessing frequent air accidents and making safety as a major concern for consumers. It tries to argue whether India can provide technical and other support services to reduce such hazards. The research methodology includes Input-Output Table calculating using WIOD (World Input Output Database) database. Therefore, information on the precise prediction about the quantity of leachate produ...One of the problems encountered in the operation of a leachate treatment in a landfill is the quantity of the fluctuating leachate. Therefore, information on the precise prediction about the quantity of leachate produced in a landfill is required. This information can be obtained by using an ANN (artificial neural networks) model. In this study, a prediction on a leachate generation for a period of 15 days was made. The input for the ANN model consists of data such as rainfall, temperature, humidity, duration of solar radiation, and the landfill characteristics, while the output is the leachate landfills production in Minamiashigara, Japan. The ANN algorithm uses a BP (back propagation) with LM (Levenberg-Marquadrt) training type. By using the input-output data pairs, the training of ANN model was conducted in order to obtain the values of the weights that describe the relationship between the input-output data. Furthermore, with the trained ANN model, the prediction of leachate generation for a period of 15 days was made. The study result shows that the prediction accuracy ofleachate generation of ANN-C model, with a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.924, is quite good. Thus, the prediction of leachate generation using artificial neural network model can be recommended for predicting leachate generation in the future. A new MREIT ima...Abstract Magnetic resonance electrical impedance tomography (MREIT, for short) is a new medical imaging technique developed recently to visualize the cross-section conduc- tivity of biologic tissues. A new MREIT image reconstruction method called harmonic Bz algorithm was proposed in 2002 with the measurement of Bz that is a single component of an induced magnetic flux density subject to an injection current. The key idea is to solve a nonlinear integral equation by some iteration process. This paper deals with the convergence analysis as well as the error estimate for noisy input data Bz, which is the practical situation for MREIT. By analyzing the iteration process containing the Laplacian operation on the input magnetic field rigorously, the authors give the error estimate for the iterative solution in terms of the noisy level 6 and the regularizing scheme for determining ABz approximately from the noisy input data. The regularizing scheme for computing the Laplacian from noisy input data is proposed with error analysis. Our results provide both the theoretical basis and the implementable scheme for evaluating the reconstruction accuracy using harmonic Bz algorithm with practical measurement data containing noise.展开更多
