Experiments of dense-phase pneumatic conveying of pulverized coal using nitrogen are carded out in an experimental test facility with the conveying pressure up to 4. 0 MPa and the gas-solid ratio up to 450 kg/m^3. The influences of different conveying differential pressures, coal moisture contents, gas volume flow rates and superficial velocities on the solid-gas ratios are investigated. Shannon entropy analysis of pressure fluctuation time series is developed to reveal the flow characteristics. Through investigation of the distribution of the Shannon entropy under different conditions, the flow stability and the evolutional tendency of the Shannon entropy in different regimes and regime transition processes are discovered, and the relationship between the Shannon entropy and the flow regimes is also established. The results indicate that the solid-gas ratio and the Shannon entropy rise with the increase in conveying differential pressure. The solid-gas ratio and the Shannon entropy reveal preferable regularity with gas volume flow rates. The Shannon entropy is different for different flow regimes, and can be used to identify the flow regimes. Both mass flow rate and the Shannon entropy decrease with the increase in moisture contents. The Shannon entropy analysis is a feasible approach for researching the characteristics of flow regimes, flow stability and flow regime transitions in dense-phase pneumatic conveying under high pressure. 展开更多

A conveyor linear system assumption is based on an approximate description of belt mechanics behavior and constant elastic moduli. It produces analysis errors and improper dynamics simulation in large conveyors. The belt non-linear characteristics based on sag are described and the belt equivalent elastic moduli expression is deduced. The relationship between belt-equivalent elastic module and elastic module is studied, and their ratio varies from 0.1 to 1.0. The non-linear motion equation with a lumped element model is put forward. Its increment equation and numerical solution are built. A dynamics simulation on a conveyor is carried out, mainly to calculate and compare belt speed, acceleration, tension, displacement of gravity take-up and wave period with linear and non-linear models. It shows that the simulation errors between two models vary from 6% to 50%. 展开更多

With the gradual depletion of available ore at shallow depth,deep mines have been widely operated around the world and therefore need a longer distance to transport the backfill to the underground stope.In this case,the determination of pressure drop is more important in the pipeline transportation system design.As the pilot loop systems require a large amount of capital and manual investment,even its results are reliable,there is an urgent need to find an alternative simple and cost-saving method to determine the pressure drop.Hence,laboratory L-pipe and a pilot-loop tests were employed to study the flow properties of cemented paste backfill cured at various solid and binder content.The results indicate that the L-pipe test presented a similar trend to the loop test,but the L-pipe was characterized by higher pressure drop values for various solid and cement contents.As cement content increased beyond 0%,the paste in the L-pipe showed a slighter difference in pressure drop evolution compared to the paste in the loop-pipe.These results suggest that the simple L-pipe is a workable substitute for semi-industrial loop tests and can provide guidance for designing practical CPB pipeline systems in deep mines. 展开更多

Based on Bingham rheological model,a three-dimensional numerical simulation model for long-distance pipeline transportation is established by computational fluid dynamics(CFD)to study the pipeline transportationproperties of high sliming paste from a copper mine in China.Based on the rheological properties test,the pressure and velocity of pipeline and elbow are simulated by CFD under different mass concentrations and different stowing capacities.The results show that the pipeline resistance of whole-tailings paste with high sliming while without pumping agent is much higher than that with high sliming and pumping agent at the same mass concentration,and the pipeline resistance of whole-tailings paste with high sliming while without pumping agent is much higher than that with low sliming while without pumping agent.It is very important to add pumping agent to whole-tailings paste with high sliming,and the resistance changes with mass concentration and stowing capacity at the same cement-to-sand ratio of1:5and tailings-to-waste ratio of6:1.However,the change is just limited,that is to say,the paste transportation system is of good stability.Furthermore,at the elbow,the maximum pressure and velocity transfer to the outside of the pipe from the inside.However,lubricating layer is formed at the pipe wall because of high content of fine particles in whole-tailings paste,which will protect the elbow from abrasion.CFD provides an intuitive and accurate basis for pipeline transportation study,and would have a wider application space in the study of paste rheological properties and resistance reduction methods. 展开更多

The state space block was adopted to express model of the belt. Thus it created simulation model of established dynamic model of overall belt conveyor system with Mat- lab/Simulink software, and simulates the course of starting by properly setting simulation parameters, and processes data for visualization. 展开更多

An improved spherical, movable transfer skirt for autonomous submersibles has been devised. It was designed to permit the transfer of equipment and personnel from a submersible to the pressure chamber of an oil storage sea-bed structure. It also allowed mating at large vertical angles while the submersible remained horizontal. Seal failure modes and procedures for analyzing the sealing ability of the mating flange of the hull transfer skirt were thoroughly analyzed using conservative estimation methods. In the analysis, sea currents and mating angles were considered. Results showed that when considering the effects of currents, spherical radius and mating angle, their influence on seal ring failure should be considered first. The critical mating depth for a seal ring failure was larger than for either sliding or rotational failure modes. The critical mating depth can be used to determine the mating method of the submersible. The analytical procedures and results can be used as a reference for the design of spherical hull transfer skirts. 展开更多
