This software uses no-gap-connection between Visual Basic (VB) and Excel to exchange data, uses Component Object Model (COM) component of MATLAB to plot charts of the three zones and to export the corresponding coordinates of the isolines. An example shows that this software is convenient and simple. By using it, the three zones can be easily determined. The software is convenient in studies and analyses of the three zones in goaf.展开更多

First, the image is filtered using contour-preserving filters. Then it is quasi-flat labeled. The small regions near the contour are classified as uncertain regions and are eliminated by region growing and merging. Further region merging is used to reduce the region number. The simulation results show its efficiency and simplicity. It can preserve the semantic object shape while emphasize on the perceptual complex part of the object. So it conforms to the human visual perception very well.展开更多

A hundred litres of very dirty/turbid water (130.3 NTU) was pretreated with 100 seeds of Moringa olieferaand further filtered through a sand filter drum (120 litres carrying capacity) made of fine, coarse sand, charcoal and gravel. The mean total aerobic mesophilic bacterial counts, E coli, coliform, pseudomonas, and yeast counts, as well as turbidity of untreated water drastically reduced to wealth health organization acceptable standards for potable water. The results indicated that the mean values of the same parameters for sand filtered pond water alone was significantly lower than the corresponding mean values obtained for Moringa treated pond water. The findings from this study suggest strongly that an integral of two natural water purification technologies (phytodisinfectant-sand filter drum) could be applied for the treatment of all types of contaminated water rendering it free from pathogens for potable and non potable uses.展开更多

This filter passes the frequency component at 2π/3 along with its conjugate. This conjugate frequency compo- nent may degrade the identification accuracy. To improve the identification accuracy, two types of multistage filters are proposed in this paper. A complex narrowband bandpass filter (CNBPF) is proposed for suppressing the conjugate frequency component which, in turn, reduces the background noise present in the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) spec- trum and improves identification accuracy. By cascading RNBPF with moving average filter (RNBPFMA), another type of multistage filter is proposed. As moving average filter smooth out the rapid variations in the DNA spectrum, RNBPFMA improves the identification accuracy. The computational complexity of RNBPFMA is less than that of CNBPF. The RNBPF and proposed multistage filters are compared with previously reported short-time discrete Fourier transform (ST-DFT) method in terms of compu- tational complexity. It is found that multistage filters reduce the computational load to a greater extent compared to ST-DFT method. The identification accuracy of the proposed CNBPF and RNBPFMA methods is compared with existing anti-notch filter and RNBPF methods. The results show that proposed methods outperform existing methods in terms of identification accuracy for benchmark data sets.展开更多
