What is the highest stable urbanization level that China can reach? When can China complete its urbanization? To answer these questions, this paper presents a system dynamic(SD) model of Chinese urbanization, and its validity and simulation are justified by a stock-flow test and a sensitivity analysis using real data from 1998 to 2013. Setting the initial conditions of the simulation by referring to the real data of 2013, the multi-scenario analysis from 2013 to 2050 reveals that Chinese urbanization will reach a level higher than 70% in 2035 and then proceed to a slow urbanization stage regardless of the population policy and GDP growth rate settings; in 2050, Chinese urbanization levels will reach approximately 75%, which is a stable and equilibrium level for China. Thus, it can be argued that Chinese urbanization is a long social development process that will require approximately20 years to complete and that the ultimate urbanization level will be 75–80%, which means that in the distant future, 20–25% of China's population will still settle in rural regions of China.展开更多

Due to significant differences between Earth systems and engineering systems, the existing numerical algorithms and methods, which are designed for simulating realistic problems in the engineering fields, may not be straightforwardly used to simulate ore-generating problems without significant improvements. Thus, extensive and systematic studies have been conducted, in recent years, to develop new numerical algorithms and methods for simulating different aspects of ore-generating problems. Not only can the outcomes of these studies provide new simulation tools for better understanding the controlled dynamic mechanisms that take place in ore-generating systems, but also they have enriched the research contents of computational mechanics in the broad sense.展开更多

The design procedure consists of numerical modelling of the system using DELTA EC tool, Design Environment for Low-amplitude ThermoAcousfic Energy Conversion, in particular the effects of mean pressure and regenerator configuration on the pressure amplitude and acoustic power generated. This is followed by the construction of a practical engine system equipped with a ceramic regenerator - a substrate used in auto- motive catalytic converters with fine square channels. The preliminary testing results are obtained and compared with the simulations in detail. The measurement results agree very well on the qualitative level and are reasonably close in the quantitative sense.展开更多
