The method is based on the primary idea that pa...In order to describe pavement roughness more intuitively and effectively, a method of pavement roughness simulation, i.e., the stochastic sinusoidal wave, is introduced. The method is based on the primary idea that pavement roughness is denoted as the sum of numerous sines or cosines with stochastic phases, and uses the discrete spectrum to approach the target stochastic process. It is a discrete numerical method used to simulate pavement roughness. According to a given pavement power spectral density (PSD) coefficient, under the condition that the character of displacement frequency based on the time domain model is in accordance with the given pavement surface spectrum, the pavement roughness is optimized to stochastic equivalent vibrations by computer simulation, and the curves that describe pavement roughness under each grade are obtained. The results show that the stochastic sinusoidal wave is suitable for simulation of measured pavement surface spectra based on the time domain model. The method of the stochastic sinusoidal wave is important to the research on vehicle ride comfort due to its rigorous mathematical derivation, extensive application range and intuitive simulation curve. Finally, a roughness index defined as the nominal roughness index (NRI) is introduced, and it has correlation with the PSD coefficient.展开更多

The ...The capillary process coexists with gravity flow within leaching heap due to the dual-porosity structure. Capillary rise is responsible for the mineral dissolution in fine particle zones and interior coarse rock. The effect of particle size and heap porosity on the capillary process was investigated through a series of column tests. Macropore of the ore heap was identified, and its capillary rise theory analysis was put forward. Two groups of ore particles, mono-size and non-uniform, were selected for the capillary rise test. The result shows that particle size has an inverse effect on the capillary ultimate height, and smaller particles exhibit higher capillary rise. Meanwhile, the poorly graded group exhibits small rise height and velocity, while the capillary rise in the well-graded particles is much greater. The relationship between porosity and fitting parameters of capillary rise was obtained. Low porosity and high surface tension lead to higher capillary height of the fine gradation. Moisture content increases with the capillary rise level going up, the relationship between capillary height and moisture content was obtained.展开更多
The electrochemical behavior of lithium incorporated in aluminum electrode in LiTFSI/KTf (lithium bis (trifluoromethylsulfonyl) amide/CF3SO3K) molten salt electrolyte was studied by a variety of electrochemical te...The electrochemical behavior of lithium incorporated in aluminum electrode in LiTFSI/KTf (lithium bis (trifluoromethylsulfonyl) amide/CF3SO3K) molten salt electrolyte was studied by a variety of electrochemical techniques including cyclic voltammetry, chronopotentiometry and chronoamperometry. The reduction reaction is found involving a nucleation process on the aluminum electrode. The results of chronopotentiometry indicate that the process of lithium incorporation in aluminum is smooth and uniform. The galvanostatic cycle experiments show that the coulombic efficiency is very low in the first cycle, which is mainly due to the "retention capacity" of Li-Al alloys. This characteristic is testified by the results of XRD and SEM. The results of chronoamperometry indicate that the incorporation of lithium into aluminum for the formation of a-phase Li-Al alloy is limited by its diffusion rate, with a measured diffusion coefficient of 1.8× 10^-10 cm2/s.展开更多

The choice of MMPP is motivated by its ability to capture the variability and correl...We investigate the approximating capability of Markov modulated Poisson processes (MMPP) for modeling multifractal Internet traffic. The choice of MMPP is motivated by its ability to capture the variability and correlation in moderate time scales while being analytically tractable. Important statistics of traffic burstiness are described and a customized moment-based fitting procedure of MMPP to traffic traces is presented. Our methodology of doing this is to examine whether the MMPP can be used to predict the performance of a queue to which MMPP sample paths and measured traffic traces are fed for comparison respectively, in addition to the goodness-of-fit test of MMPP. Numerical results and simulations show that the fitted MMPP can approximate multifractal traffic quite well, i.e. accurately predict the queueing performance.展开更多

The shortest paths are designed for just-arrived and ready-for-departing flights of the airport. Additionally, whether the flights could confront each other head-to-head on the taxiway is judged. In regard to the airport′s security and efficiency, airplanes must continuously taxi along the shortest route and the head-to-head confrontation should not occur. Two schemes are designed: One is to change the taxiing velocity of arrival flights, the other is to delay the starting time of departure flights. The operating temperature has a great impact on gas holdup though the gas ...Gas holdups in ambient gassed and hot sparged systems with multiple modern impellers and the effect of temperature on gas holdup are reported. The operating temperature has a great impact on gas holdup though the gas dispersion regime in the hot sparged system is similar to the ambient gassed condition. The gas holdup under the elevated temperature and the ambient gassed operation is successfully correlated. With the same total gas flow rate and power input, the gas holdup in the hot sparged system (say near the boiling point) is only about half of that in the ambient system. The results imply that almost all existing hot sparged reactors have been designed on the basis of incorrect estimates of the gas holdup during operation.展开更多
