However, due to the existence of the transport problems in the upper ocean, the flat upper and the horizontal homogenous hypothesis are usually wave motion, the application of this approximation may result in some errors to the solar irradiation since it decays quickly in respect to the actual thickness of the water layer below the surface; on the other hand, due to the fluctuation of the water layer depth, it is improper to neglect the effects of the horizontal advection and turbulent diffusion since they also contribute to the vertical heat transport. A new model is constructed in this study to reflect these effects. The corresponding numerical simulations show that the wave motion may remarkably accelerate the vertical heat transferring process and the variation of the temperature in the wave affected layer appears in an oscillating manner.展开更多

Evaluation of landside capacity enables airport operators and airport designers to identify passenger and baggage flow bottlenecks, identify the primary cause of bottlenecks formation and take measures mitigating the impact of bottlenecks on the airport terminal operation. Many studies dealing with the problems of airport landside capacity are focused mainly on the processing part of the airport terminal and consider the airport terminal to be an isolated system. Even the most of models of airport landside operations developed using various simulation (both generic and dedicated) software packages (e.g., PaxSim, SLAM, WITNESS, ARENA or EXTEND) are designed for simulating the passenger and baggage flows only between curb-side and apron. Although this approach provides valuable data concerning capacity, delays or processing bottlenecks, in some cases identified capacity constraints are only the symptoms of the actual problem. In order to discover the cause of the problem, it is necessary to consider the airport terminal as an integral part of much more complex regional, national or international transportation system. This article reflects the above mentioned requirements and introduces an innovative approach to passenger and baggage flow simulation based on the fact that airport terminal is considered as an integral part of air passenger door-to-door transportation process.展开更多

Most standard construction materials are characterized by porous structure, resulting in the ability to absorb water in liquid and gaseous phases in the inner pores. Under certain conditions, water fills the pores within the structure of building material and then moves back to its surrounding. Many technical studies have shown that monitoring the moisture transport is mainly based on experimental methods. This work is based on models of transport of moisture in building physics, i.e., the description of the moisture behaviour of building materials based on physical laws models (KRISCHER, KIESSL). The aim of this work is to obtain the parameters of distribution of moisture for calculation capillary conductivity coefficient for practical using by means of non-destructive method. The authors have now developed all the software required to perform a boundary element analysis of problems in potential flow. The examples which the authors can analyse will, however, be restricted to homogenous domains.展开更多

In such a graph paths are compared by their total weight in each colour, resulting in a Pareto set of minimal paths from one vertex to another. This paper will give a tight upper bound on the cardinality of a minimal set of paths for any weighted edge-coloured graph. Additionally, a bound is presented on the expected number of minimal paths in weighted edge-bicoloured graphs. These bounds indicate that despite weighted edge-coloured graphs are theoretically intractable, amenability to computation is typically found in practice.展开更多

By asymptotic analysis it is shown that the salt solution uptake by a single cylindrical root in the absence of competition does not influence the overall salt concentration in the soil even when the soil moisture concentration is less than full saturation.展开更多
