A geographic information system-based procedure, known as rural settlement suitability evaluation(RSSE) using an improved technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution(TOPSIS), was adopted to determine the most suitable area for constructing rural settlements in different geographical locations. Given the distribution and independence of rural settlements, a distinctive evaluation criteria system that differed from that of urban suitability was established by considering the level of rural infrastructure services as well as living and working conditions. The unpredictable mutual interference among evaluation factors has been found in practical works. An improved TOPSIS using Mahalanobis distance was applied to solve the unpredictable correlation among the criteria in a suitability evaluation. Uncertainty and sensitivity analyses obtained via Monte Carlo simulation were performed to examine the robustness of the model. Daye, a resource-based city with rapid economic development, unsatisfied rural development, and geological environmental problems caused by mining, was used as a case study. Results indicate the following findings: 1) The RSSE model using the improved TOPSIS can assess the suitability of rural settlements, and the suitability maps generated using the improved TOPSIS have higher information density than those generated using traditional TOPSIS. The robustness of the model is improved, and the uncertainty is reduced in the suitability results. 2) Highly suitable land is mainly distributed in the northeast of the study area, and the majority of which is cultivated land, thereby leading to tremendous pressure on the loss of cultivated land. 3) Lastly, 12.54% of the constructive expansion permitted zone and 8.36% of the constructive expansion conditionally permitted zone are situated in an unsuitable area, which indicates that the general planning of Daye lacks the necessary verification of suitability evaluation. Guidance is provided on the development strategy of rural settlement patches to support decision making in general land use planning.展开更多

The process included educational, pedagogical, judicial, liturgical and theological-rhetorical means and had significant, invaluable, and long lasting consequences. The province remains as a part of the Kingdom of Sweden. From a historical perspective, the process was fast and successful, even though some modem historians question the speediness of the process and thereby want to modify the picture of a fast and non-problematic Swedification or pseudo-indigenization process.展开更多

First, we derived the condition in which disease-free equilibrium is locally asymptotically stable and established that a stable disease-free equilibrium can only be achieved in the absence of infective immigrants. Second we investigated the impact of each control mechanism individually and the combinations of these strategies in the control of HCV. The costs associated with each of these strategies are also investigated by formulating the costs function problem as an optimal control problem, and we then use the Pontryagin's Maximum Principle to solve the optimal control problems. From the numerical simulations we found that the optimal combination of treatment of acute-infected and chronic-infected individuals control strategy produced the same results as the combination of the three strategies (combination of screening of immigrants, treatment of acute-infected and chronic-infected individuals). By our model and these results, we suggest the treatment of acute-infected and chronic-infected individuals control strategy should be optimized where resources are scarce, because the implementation of the three strategies (combination of screening of immigrants, treatment of acute-infected and chronic-infected individuals) would imply additional cost.展开更多

There are adult dose criteria for Chinese herbs in decoction in the Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China (2010 Edition) at present. But Chinese herbs have been frequently used in much higher doses than the dose criteria. This study has been conducted to test the dependability of the dose criteria. METHODS: Twenty Chinese herbs were selected as representatives and their adult doses in decoction in Bei Ji Qian .lin Yao Fang, a famous ancient litera- ture, have been reviewed and compared with those in the Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China (2010 Edition). RESULTS: The adult dose criteria for all these 20 Chinese herbs in the Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China (2010 Edition) haven't covered those in Bei Ji Qian .fin Yao Fang. Furthermore, maxi- mal adult doses in the dose criteria are much lower than those in Bei Ji Qian Jin Yao Fang. CONCLUSION: The dose criteria in the Pharmaco- poeia of the People's Republic of China (2010 Edition) are not comprehensive enough. Studying ancient literatures is an effective method to gain preciousChinese herbs' dose data and helps for new dose criteria's establishment in the future.展开更多
