However, many characters in Leisure Garden unintentionally exhibit the idea or action of “escaping” the Garden, which to some extent can be seen as a continuation of Juehui’s “escape” in “Family”, and another iteration of the May Fourth “running away” mode. The phenomenon of “escaping” from the garden provides a glimpse into the complex life situations of the youth at the time, as well as the author’s deep reflections and critiques on the social status quo and the lingering poison of feudalism.展开更多
