The public’s attitudes can affect the experience of stuttering of people who stutter.This study investigated the attitudes held by the public about people who stutter in China.A web-based written survey with closed a...The public’s attitudes can affect the experience of stuttering of people who stutter.This study investigated the attitudes held by the public about people who stutter in China.A web-based written survey with closed and open-ended questions was implemented to develop a rich understanding.One hundred and two respondents in 26 provinces and 3 municipalities provided comments on people who stutter in their life aspects such as personality,speech,social life,work,life participation,education,dating and marriage,capability,and communication skills.The predominantly negative attitudes towards the overall domains were identified.Attitudes to people who stutter varied according to the different sources of knowledge.Familiarity with people who stutter might reduce stereotypes.However,knowledge from the media might aggravate stereotypes.Implications and future research orientation were also discussed.展开更多

First, the characteristics of traffic wave propagation is analyzed for the simple signal-controlled lane and the critical conditions for oversaturation is established. Then, the basic road is decomposed into a series of one-way links according to its topological characteristics. Based on the decomposition, traffic wave propagation under complex conditions is studied. Three complicated factors are considered to establish the corresponding critical conditions of jam formation, namely, dynamic and insufficient split, channelized section spillover and endogenous traffic flow. The results show that road geometric features, traffic demand structures and signal settings influence the formation and propagation of traffic congestion. These findings can serve as a theoretical basis for future network jam control.展开更多

The technical thinking of inducing the slowly moving traffic into a batch pass is determined based on the conclusion of the research, traffic flowtheory and traffic sensing detection technology. The model of stop times is established and the parameters of the system are optimized in accordance with the principle of minimizing the fuel consumption. The optimal location selection of traffic control lights and Detector 2 for queue of different lengths at toll stations are calculated based on the model. Finally, the effect of the congestion flowcontrol system is verified via the Paramics simulation system. The result shows that the control system is capable of reducing90% of fuel consumption for vehicles going through toll stations.展开更多

Based on the random utility maximum theory, the NL model is form...The effects of socio-demographics, land use characteristics and trip attributes on the commute mode choice are studied with a nested logit (NL) model. Based on the random utility maximum theory, the NL model is formulated. The analysis is carried out in the main area of Nanjing. Direct and cross elasticities are calculated to analyze the effects of travel time and travel cost on the selection of travel mode choice. The results reveal that the non-motorized travel modes are more attractive in the areas with higher housing and employment accessibility and car owners are found to be more likely to commute to work by car. The bus and subway choice probabilities are more sensitive to changes in travel times than to changes in travel costs. In conclusion, a comprehensive public transit system and effective integration of land use and transportation policies help to relieve the traffic congestion levels caused by the increasing urban sprawl.展开更多

The headway reg...The common phenomenon of uneven headway in bus service is explored based on the automatic vehicle location (AVL) data of Route 2 in Yichun City of Jiangxi province from 6:00 to 9:00 in the morning. The headway regularity of two stages 6: 00--7:00 and 7: 00--9:00 is comparatively analyzed, and it is found that both the traffic conditions and the passenger demand affect headway regularity. A bus arrival model, which assumes that the dwell time of a bus is linear in headway, is built to probe the effect of scheduled headway, and the model is simulated by Matlab. The simulation results reveal that the departure intervals and fluctuations affect headway regularity. Longer intervals and less fluctuation mean higher regularity of headway. And, the fluctuation has a more obvious influence on headway regularity than the interval. Controlling the fluctuations of scheduled headway can effectively raise the regularity of headway and improve the level of public transport service.展开更多

It is simplified with two normal situations: one situation involves one straight lane and one left-turn lane; the other situation involves two straight lanes and one left-turn lane. The results show that the capacity is mainly relative to signal cycle length, phase length, intersection layout and following time. With regard to the vehicles arrival rates, the optimal model is derived based on each phase's remaining time balance, and it is solved by Lagrange multipliers. Therefore, the calculation models of the optimal signal cycle length and phase lengths are derived and simplified. Compared to the existing models, the proposed model is more convenient and practical. Finally, a practical intersection is chosen and its signal cycles and phase lengths are calculated by the proposed model.展开更多

In ...Vuggy reservoirs are the most common, albeit important heterogeneous carbonate reservoirs in China. However, saturation calculations using logging data are not well developed, whereas Archie method is more common. In this study, electrical conduction in a vuggy reservoir is theoretically analyzed to establish a new saturation equation for vuggy reservoirs. We found that vugs have a greater effect on saturation than resistivity, which causes inflection in the rock-electricity curve. Using single-variable exPeriments, we evaluated the effects of rug size, vug number, and vug distribution on the rock-electricity relation. Based on the general saturation model, a saturation equation for vuggy reservoirs is derived, and the physical significance of the equation parameters is discussed based on the seepage-electricity similarity. The equation parameters depend on the pore structure, and vugs and matrix pore size distribution. Furthermore, a method for calculating the equation parameters is proposed, which uses nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) data to calculate the capillary pressure curve. Field application of the proposed equation and parameter derivation method shows good match between calculated and experimental results, with an average absolute error of 5.8%.展开更多

First, the traffic wave method is used to analyze the formation and dispersion of the vehicle queue. Cumulative curves for road entrances and exits are established. Based on the cumulative curves, the travel time of the one-lane road under stable flow input is derived. And then, the multi-lane road is decomposed into a series of single-lane links based on its topological characteristics. Hence, the travel time function for the basic road is obtained. The travel time is a function of road length, flow and control parameters. Numerical analyses show that the travel time depends on the supply-demand condition, and it has high sensitivity during peak hours.展开更多

The main characteristics and the classifications of P2P systems are discussed. Considering the requirements of P2P application modeling and referring to the component-based modeling thought, a description method based on communicating sequential processes (CSP)is proposed for the P2P network models. By using a CSP process group, this method can describe the dynamic interactive relationship which focuses on multiparty concurrent interaction of P2P systems more advantageously and accurately. The application of nondeterministic semantemes of CSP in describing the interactive relationship of P2P networks is discussed. The advantages and description abilities of the proposed method are demonstrated through the modeling of a new P2P media-on-demand system.展开更多

[ Method] The CCI4 induced mouse model of liver regene...[ Objective ] The aim of the research was to study the expression profile changes of genes involved in lipid metabolism pathway during liver regeneration in mice. [ Method] The CCI4 induced mouse model of liver regeneration was established and the total RNA was isolated from liver tissue of mouse. Then the changes of genes involved in lipid metabolism pathway during different stages of liver regeneration were detected through micro-array chip gene technique and their specific functions were also analyzed. [ Result] Dudng the process of liver regeneration, the expression level of 98 genes involved in lipid metabolism pathway changed, which were divided into eight groups according to change trend. In the mass, the expression of genes was inhibited in the early stage and up-regulated in the late phase. And the gene expression associated with fatty acid synthesis pathway was mainly up-regulated while the catabolic pathway did not change significantly. Most of genes involved in bile acid synthesis pathway were suppressed before 4.5 d and up-regulated after 4.5 d or 7 d. [ Conclusion] During the process of liver regeneration, the genes associated with lipid metabolism are expressed in different trends, and this data should provide a specific range of genes for further studying the regulation effect of lipid metabolism related pathway on liver regeneration.展开更多
