[Method] Ninety one ISSR molecular markers were used for amplification on 44 shares of kenaf germplasm resources, of which 21 showing good diversity and clear bands were chosen for PCR amplification. Based on amplification results, the genetic similarity coefficients among kenaf germplasm resources were calculated by using analytic software NTSYSpc-2.10e, and phylogenetic tree was then established via UPGMA. [Result] Totally 169 bands were amplified using the 21 screened primers, averagely 8.05 bands were amplified from each primer. Of them, 141 bands were polymorphic, accounting for 83.4%. When genetic similarity coefficient 0.887 was used as criterion L1, these 44 shares of kenaf germplasm could be classified to be 32 shares of cultivars and 12 shares of wild type or half-wild type varieties. When genetic similarity coefficient 0.897 was used as criterion L2, these 32 shares of cultivars could be further grouped into four sub-clusters. The genetic diversities between cultivars and wild type or half-wild type varieties were between 0.46-0.91, showing huge hereditary difference; while that among 32 cultivars were between 0.85-0.97, suggesting that genetic relationships among cultivars are relatively close and their genetic similarities are rather narrow. [Conclusion] ISSR could well determine the genetic similarities among kenaf germplasm resources and provide valuable molecular information for selecting parents of hybrid cross, which can lay a good foundation for DNA mapping of kenaf germplasm resources.展开更多

Forty one wild strains were collected from different geographical areas in Northern and Central Luzon region. Strains were differentiated using random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD). A single 10-based primer was used to generate randomly amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) in V. volvacea and differences were noted in band size (bp) ranging from 1,800 bp to 550 bp. Principal component analysis (PCA) of the RAPD data revealed 4 groups from wild strains. One strain showed RAPD pattern with band appearance at 1,750, 950 and 750 bp; 3 strains at 1,800 and 750 bp; 8 strains at 1,500 and 550; and the most abundant group with 29 strains at 750 bp. With observed lack of heterogeneity among strains, it is recommended that more collections from the wild should be undertaken for more diverse germplasm collection. Moreover, it is suggested that RAPD can be used to delineate strains of V. volvacea with potential importance on genetic diversity conservation and breeding.展开更多

At first, 256 SRAP primer pairs were used to amplify four representative germplasms to screen the best primer pairs that could produce poly-morphic DNA fragments. As a result, a total of 284 polymorphic DNA fragments were scored among the 48 JUNCAO germplasms from the electrophoresis patterns generated with 18 selected SRAP primer pairs. By using NTSYS-pc 2.1 software combined with UPGMA cluster analysis, the genetic similarity (SM) coefficient be- tween the 48 accessions was calculated and ranged from 0.58 to 0.98. All the 48 accessions were distinguished from each other. The 48 JUNCAO germplasms were classified into four categories at a genetic similarity coefficient of 0.645. The results showed that the SRAP markers could be effectively used for analysis of genetic di- versify of JUNCAO germplasms. Additionally, the results also showed that there ex- ist abundant JUNCAO germptasm in the genus Arundo in China. This study provides a new technique for studying the genetic diversify of JUNCAO germplasms. The selected combinations of SRAP primers can be used for genetic analyses on a larger number of JUNCAO germplasms in the future. Moreover, the results provide theoretical guidance and technical support for the efficient management and utilization of JUNCAO germplasm resources.展开更多

In the past decade, both developing and developed WTO member nations have debated whether the TRIPS agreement should expand its definition to cover new areas such as genetic resources and traditional knowledge. This article argues that although the genetic resources-based market is huge, developing countries have benefited little from it. Specifically, the current market mechanism and system provide little incentive to developing countries to protect biodiversity. Expanding TRIPS to cover new areas such as genetic resources and traditional knowledge can make multilateral trade fairer and more balanced and will enable developing members to better protect biodiversity.展开更多

The objective of the present study is to describe the conditions of dromedaries breeding, to analyze their phenotypic diversity, redefine the range flocks, highlight the perspectives of exploitation and use their products in livestock systems sustainablely. Knowing that the camel occupies a vital place in the socioeconomic development of breeders, owing to the multiple functions and services it provides. However, the pressures of diverse origins including population growth and recurrent droughts take serious threats to the development of the species. This survey was conducted during 2 years over 2500 animals owned by 60 farmers were studied. These animals were analyzed in terms of phenotypic and ethno-geographical evolution of breeding. A large number of blood samples (200) were collected, which allowed us to be the first DNA bank of camels in Algeria.展开更多

Traditional knowledge (TK) is a key issue in the Protocol’s text and its negotiating period. This paper aimed to protect TK by defining its concepts and categories and promoting benefit-sharing with TK’s holders. Based on the analysis for the TK concepts of relevant international organizations and conventions, in particularly on the author’s current years’ research work on TK in the ethnic areas of China, this paper proposes the categories and the classification system for the TK associated with biological resources, i.e. (i) the knowledge for traditional use of agricultural bio-species and genetic resources; (ii) the knowledge for traditional use of medicinal bio-species;(iii) traditional technical innovations for bio- resource use and traditional practices for farming and living styles; (iv) traditional cultures such as customary laws and community protocols that are related to conservation and sustainable use of bio-resources; and (v) traditional geographically biological indicators. Furthermore, this paper introduced the provisions for access and benefit-sharing of TK and proposed to share fairly and equitably the benefits produced from use of TK with indigenous people, local communities and other kinds of holders such as a country for the ancient documented TK. In addition, aimed to the existing problems for traditional knowledge protection, the national strategy for TK protection was introduced and measures for TK inheritance, development, utilization and protection measures were put forward, which are significant for TK’s popularization and beneficial to local communities of the ethnic groups in China.展开更多

Moreover, the results provide theoretical guidance and technical support for the efficient management and utilization of JUNCAO germplasm resources.
文摘Since its entry into the WTO ten years ago, China has been increasingly involved in building new rules to make multilateral trading systems more development- oriented. Expanding TRIPS to cover new areas such as genetic resources and traditional knowledge can make multilateral trade fairer and more balanced and will enable developing members to better protect biodiversity.
文摘In the framework of biodiversity's studies of animal's genetic resources in general and especially camels, the authors focused, in the case of biodiversity, on the phenotypic and genetic variability of each camel populations studied in southwestern of Algeria. A large number of blood samples (200) were collected, which allowed us to be the first DNA bank of camels in Algeria.

文摘A milestone in the Year of Biodiversity is that the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from their Utilization to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) was adopted in the 10th Conference of Parties (COP 10) held in Nagoya, Japan, Oct 18- 29, 2010. In addition, aimed to the existing problems for traditional knowledge protection, the national strategy for TK protection was introduced and measures for TK inheritance, development, utilization and protection measures were put forward, which are significant for TK’s popularization and beneficial to local communities of the ethnic groups in China.
