Study on Remote Sensing Information Extraction Technology for the Impervious Surface of Erhai Basin

[Objective] To study the remote sensing information extraction technology for the impervious surface of Erhai basin with the aim to develop dynamic simulation platform for the formation of water pollution. [Method] Linear spectral separation technology was used to achieve Vd-S model solution, extracting remote sensing in- formation of the impervious surface of Erhai basin from the TM data of Landsat5 in 2009. The linear combination of 4 kinds of endmember spectra, namely vegetation, high anti-illumination, low anti-illumination and bare soil, were used to simulate the TM spectral characteristics, and its distribution and spatial characteristics were ana- lyzed. [Result] Middle-resolution image is suitable for the basin-scaled impervious surface extraction with reliable results and satisfactory accuracy. [Conclusion] This study provided basis for deciding the relationship between the regulation strategy on the non-point source pollution of Erhai Lake, coordinated economic development and environmental protection. 展开更多

Proper solid waste disposal is an important socioeconomic concern for all developing countries.Municipalities have their own policies,individual approaches and methods to manage the solid wastes.They consider wastelands outside the urban area as the best suitable for the solid waste disposal.Such improper site selection will create morphological changes that lead to environmental hazards in the urban and its surrounding areas.In this research,the site selection for urban solid waste disposal in the Coimbatore district used geographical information system(GIS)and multi-criteria decision analysis(MCDA).Thematic layers of lineament density,landuse/landcover,population density,groundwater depth,drainage density,slope,soil texture,geology and geomorphology were considered as primary criteria and weights for criteria,and sub-criteria were assigned by MCDA analysis.The resultant weight score was validated by consistency ratio so that the efficiency of the selected criteria was justified.The overlay analysis in GIS environment provides 17 potential zones in Coimbatore district,among which,four suitable sites were screened and refined with the help of field investigation and visual interpretation of satellite image.The result of landfill suitability map shows the effectiveness of the proposed method. 展开更多

The mosaic structure of landscape of the central area of Shanghai Metropolis is studied by quantitative methods of landscape ecology based on Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographic Information System (GIS) in this paper. Firstly, landscapes are classified into eight categories: residential quarter, industrial quarter, road, other urban landscape, farmland, village and small town, on-building area, river and other water bodies (such as lake, etc.). Secondly, a GIS is designed and set up based on the remote sensing data and field investigation, and a digital map of landscape mosaic is made. Then the indexes of diversity, dominance, fragmentation and isolation, and fractal dimension of each type of landscape in different periods are calculated by using spatial analysis method of GIS. With reference to the calculated results, a series of relative issues are discussed. 展开更多
