For the Lab model that describes the global information of observations, a sorted nearest neighbor clustering method is proposed for color clustering and then a partitioned color matching method is used to calculate the color similarity between observations. The Bhattacharya distance is employed for the textural similarity calculation of the EHOG which describes the local information. The global information, which is robust to different viewing angles and scale changes, describes the observations well. Meanwhile, the use of local information, which is robust to illumination changes, can strengthen the discriminative ability of the method. The integration of global and local information improves the accuracy and robustness of the proposed matching approach. Experiments are carried out indoors, and the results show a high matching accuracy of the proposed method.展开更多

Its advantages over a one-sided line and the difficulties faced in two-sided line balancing problems were discussed. A mathematical model for two-ALB problem was suggested. A modification of the “ranked positional weight” method, namely two-ALB RPW for two-ALB problems was developed. Experiments were carried out to verify the performance of the proposed method and the results show that it is effective in solving two-sided assembly line balancing problems.展开更多

Past research has attributed these differences to a number of factors including: spawning densities, operational sex ratios (OSR's), male condition (or age), environmental and/or genetic factors, or a combination thereof. Mating behaviors in the three Asian horseshoe crab species (Tachy-pleus gigas, T. tridentatus, and Carcinoscorpius rotundicauda) with low spawning densities and 1:1 operational sex ratios are typically monogamous. In Limuluspolyphemus, mating behavior is more variable ranging fi'om monogamy to polygynandry. Here we provide evidence, through a long term behavioral study, that variation in mating behavior is influenced by population density in L. polyphemus. Our study population on two beaches in Connecticut (Long Island Sound) have a spawning density 400 times less than that found in Delaware Bay (0.002 females/m2 vs. 0.8 females/m2) but similar operational sex ratios. Between 90%-95% of all spawning females in CT were paired with only one male, thus exhibiting monogamous behavior. In contrast, between 30 and 60% of spawning females in Delaware Bay have more than one mate and produce clutches of eggs with multiple paternities. Male condition played no role in mating behavior in CT populations. We also observed that on average 18% of the females on the spawning beaches are single. These results suggest that population density is an important condition that determines mating behavior. Also, low population density may lead to decreased mate finding ability and lost opportunities for spawning展开更多

Interestingly, depending on grain size of samples, RRchxnH exhibits the monoclinic form and the orthorhombic form, which are distinguished by systematic absence and powder XRD (X-ray diffraction) patterns clearly. Although single crystals did not exhibit phase transition, powder XRD patterns of RRchxnH and weakly hydrogen bonded RRchxnD emerged low-temperature phase of monoclinic in the orthorhombic patterns only around 200-220 K. However, as a control, powder XRD patterns of both trchxnH and trchxnD did not exhibit such phase transition clearly.展开更多
