Because of the pneumatic system’s compressibility and few stop positions, it was considered hard to control in a precise motion control system. With the help of newly developed pneumatic servo control technology, using servo-pneumatic positioning controller now is just as easy as using electro-servo system. This article discusses Web-based servo-pneumatic manipulator control and object recognition and positioning. The authors built a three-degrees-of-freedom (3 DOF) pneumatic manipulator with a servo-pneumatic closed-loop control system and machine vision system in their lab. Web-based tele-operation was a basic ability in this experimental system. After installing a CCD camera, video capture card, and related software developed by the authors, the robot could recognize the user specified object through the Web page and find its position. The remote user could command the robot to move to the position and to grab the object. The critical issues of Web-based control are to integrate hybrid open-architecture mechatronic system through the Web and develop a software language environment characterized by the script. The authors’ experiment showed that pneumatic devices could serve as accurate position control and be controlled through the Web.展开更多

With the huge rise of energy demand,the power system in the current era is moving to a new standard with increased access to renewable energy sources(RESs)integrated with distribution generation(DG)network.The RESs ne...With the huge rise of energy demand,the power system in the current era is moving to a new standard with increased access to renewable energy sources(RESs)integrated with distribution generation(DG)network.The RESs necessitate interfaces for controlling the power generation.The multilevel inverter(MLI)can be exploited for RESs in two diverse modes,namely,the power generation mode(stand-alone mode),and compensator mode(statcom).Few works have been carried out in optimization of controller gains with the load variations of the single type such as reactive load variation in different cases.Nevertheless,this load type may be unbalanced hence,to overcome such issues.So,a sophisticated optimization algorithm is important.This paper aims to introduce a control design via an optimization assisted PI controller for a 7-level inverter.In the present technique,the gains of the PI controller are adjusted dynamically by the adopted hybrid scheme,grey optimizer with dragon levy update(GD-LU),based on the operating conditions of the system.Here,the gains are adjusted such that the error between the reference signal and fault signal should be minimal.Thus,better dynamic performance could be attained by the present optimized PI controller.The proposed algorithm is the combined version of grey wolf optimization(GWO)and dragonfly algorithm(DA).Finally,the performance of the proposed work is compared and validated over other state-of-the-art models concerning error measures.展开更多

In particular, we introduce the ABB system that employs most of the Benevolent Builders (BB) which are assertions, integration rules, ABB network graph and agents to activate the components’ versatility to reconcile the semantics involved in data sharing in order to withstand the terrific dynamic computer technology in the present and future information age. The ABB is a global application system with its operation covering local databases to the Internet. The first three BB are passive objects, whereas, the agent has a strong versatility to perceive events, perform actions, communicate, make commitments, and satisfy claims. Due to the BB’s power of intelligence, ABB also has the capability to filter out and process only the relevant operational sources like preferences (i.e. customer’s interest) from the sites. It has two separate skin-color detection steps: the first one is to quickly detect the potential human skin-color regions; and the second one is to use an off-the-shelf face detector to locate a human face and then apply hypothesis testing based on series of assumptions which take into account the face-height ratio, body orientation and modem photograph composition common sense, etc. After that, a template matching method is used to further discriminate normal images or pornographic ones. The four kinds of singularities of 2-DOF planar seven-bar linkages used in hybrid actuators are analyzed in detail by this method. Its five kinds of singular positions whose characteristics are discussed respectively are discovered. Three approaches are proposed on how to avoid the singular positions of planar multi-loop multi-DOF linkages. Based on the assemblability of planar single-loop N-bar chains or linkages, the geometry conditions are investigated and discovered to avoid the singular positions of the linkages. The rotor initial unbalance of an aeroengine gas generator of turboshaft engine seriously affects rotor assembly process.To reasonably optimize rotor assembly process,the effect analyses of rotor initial unbalance of ...The rotor initial unbalance of an aeroengine gas generator of turboshaft engine seriously affects rotor assembly process.To reasonably optimize rotor assembly process,the effect analyses of rotor initial unbalance of single disc and combined discs on rotor dynamic characteristics are firstly implemented in respect of the dispersity of rotor initial unbalance.It is found that the most important factors contributing to rotor vibration are the unbalances of the first stage compressor disc and the second stage turbine disc.However,reducing the mass of two discs conflicts with the control of the whole gas generator rotor balance resulting from the unbalance increase of single components.Thus,we further analyze the key control factors of affecting rotor initial unbalance,and give the strict control measures of centrifugal impeller runout in the assembly process by adjusting the angle of central tie rod axis.The purpose of this measures to make the assembly process simpler and more effective for timely controlling rotor initial unbalance.The efforts of this study validate that the proposed method is workable for the rotor tightened by a central tie rod and possesses the significant meaning of practical application in engineering.展开更多

PID (proportional integral derivative) controller is designed in the blade pitch system of wind turbine to improve the system dynamic performance. Furthermore, to minimize the system oscillations, SMES (super-conducting magnetic energy storage) with first order lead-lag controller is implemented to supply and absorb active power quickly trying to reach power generation/demand balance and thereby control system frequency. Minimization of frequency and wind output power deviations are considered as two objective functions for the PID controller of wind turbine. Also, mitigating frequency and diesel output power deviations are presented as two objective functions of the lead-lag controller of SMES. NSGA-II (modified version of non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm) is used to tune the controllers' parameters to get an optimal response. The effectiveness and robustness of the proposed control technique are investigated under different operating conditions using Matlab environment. The simulation results confirm the ability of the controllers to damp all frequency and output powers fluctuations and enhance the stability and reliability of the hybrid power system.展开更多

For square stable systems, an open-loop approach is proposed, which features the tradeoff between the contributions of response time constant and delay time to relative gain. For non-square stable systems, an extension from the proposed open-loop approach for square systems is presented and the corresponding pairing procedure is given. No interaction analysis approach is perfect for all systems, so any recommended pairing needs to be examined. An evaluation method is proposed in closed-loop with optimal controllers for each loop and whether the pairing is appropriate can be evaluated through testing if the equivalent relative gain is within defined scope. The advantages and effectiveness of proposed interaction analysis approaches and pairing evaluation method are highlighted via several examples of industrial processes.展开更多

This paper presents the results of investigation by computer software of the overvoltages resulting from a ferroresonance conditions in MV networks at open phase operating condition with and without connection to earth on source and load sides of distribution transformer. This overvoltage may reach 4.2 pu on one of the HV side of transformer unswitched phases. The results of the study show that ferroresonance overvoltage may be controlled by replacing fuses with circuit breakers on HV side to ensure switching-off all phases. Insertion of resistor or reactor in the neutral of source and loadsides of the transformer with 5% active load will help in suppressing overvoltages.展开更多

Then, the viscosity model of the glue is applied to deriving the droplet mass as the nominal model of the temperature controller. The robustness of the temperature controller is analyzed by applying the small gain theory. The glue supply pressure controller is designed using the consistency control strategy, and the robustness is analyzed. The algorithm requires that all sensor nodes have the same value of contention window (CW) in a cluster, which is revealed by formulating resource allocation as a network utility maximization problem. Then, by maximizing the total network utility with constrains of minimizing collision probability, the optimal value of CW (Wopt) can be computed according to the number of sensor nodes. The new backoff algorithm uses the common optimal value Wopt and leads to fewer collisions than binary exponential backoff algorithm. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms standard 802.11 DCF and S-MAC in average collision times, packet delay, total energy consumption, and system throughput.展开更多

This application considers a single fault current limiting action but can also be applied for a three phase system. The maximum contribution of FCL-TCSR quickly clears the abnormal current in the power distribution system when a fault condition occurs. Using a mathematical model of FCL-TCSR, the impact of series impedance used to adjust the amplitude of the fault current action is demonstrated. The control law adapts fast and tracks the reference system with the guaranteed robustness and transient performance in the presence of unmatched uncertainties. The interval analysis is used to build the quasi-linear parameter-varying model of unmatched nonlinear system, and the robust stability of the proposed controller is addressed by sum of squares programming. The transient performance analysis shows that within the limit of hardware a large adaption gain can improve the asymptotic tracking performance. Simulation results are provided to demonstrate the theoretical findings of the proposed controller.展开更多

The first method combined Loss Model and "golden section technique", which was faster than the available methods. Secondly, the low-frequency ripple torque due to decrease of rotor flux was compensated in a feedforward manner. If load torque or speed command changed, the efficiency search algorithm would be abandoned and the rated flux would be established to get the best transient response. The close agreement between the simulation and the experimental results confirmed the validity and usefulness of the proposed techniques.

文摘A novel backoff algorithm in CSMA/CA-based medium access control (MAC) protocols for clustered sensor networks was proposed. The algorithm requires that all sensor nodes have the same value of contention window (CW) in a cluster, which is revealed by formulating resource allocation as a network utility maximization problem. Then, by maximizing the total network utility with constrains of minimizing collision probability, the optimal value of CW (Wopt) can be computed according to the number of sensor nodes. The new backoff algorithm uses the common optimal value Wopt and leads to fewer collisions than binary exponential backoff algorithm. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms standard 802.11 DCF and S-MAC in average collision times, packet delay, total energy consumption, and system throughput.
文摘In this paper, an application of fault current limiter-thyristor controller series reactor (FCL-TCSR) in the distribution network is presented in order to minimize the peak value of current during the fault condition. This application considers a single fault current limiting action but can also be applied for a three phase system. The maximum contribution of FCL-TCSR quickly clears the abnormal current in the power distribution system when a fault condition occurs. Using a mathematical model of FCL-TCSR, the impact of series impedance used to adjust the amplitude of the fault current action is demonstrated. The performance of the load with the impedance and load in series is also analyzed.
文摘An extension of L_1 adaptive control is proposed for the unmatched uncertain nonlinear system with the nonlinear reference system that defines the performance specifications. The control law adapts fast and tracks the reference system with the guaranteed robustness and transient performance in the presence of unmatched uncertainties. The interval analysis is used to build the quasi-linear parameter-varying model of unmatched nonlinear system, and the robust stability of the proposed controller is addressed by sum of squares programming. The transient performance analysis shows that within the limit of hardware a large adaption gain can improve the asymptotic tracking performance. Simulation results are provided to demonstrate the theoretical findings of the proposed controller.
