The first technique is to handle constraints on control vari- ables based on the finite-element collocation so as to control the approximation error for discrete optimal problems, where a set of control constraints at dement knots are integrated with the procedure for optimization leading to a significant gain in the accuracy of the simultaneous strategies. The second technique is to make the mesh refine- ment more feasible and reliable by introducing length constraints and guideline in designing appropriate element length boundaries, so that the proposed approach becomes more efficient in adjusting dements to track optimal control profile breakpoints and ensure accurate state and centrol profiles. Four classic benchmarks of dynamic op- timization problems are used as illustrations, and the proposed approach is compared with literature reports. The research results reveal that the proposed approach is preferz, ble in improving the solution accuracy of chemical dy- namic optimization problem.展开更多

The algorithm requires that all sensor nodes have the same value of contention window (CW) in a cluster, which is revealed by formulating resource allocation as a network utility maximization problem. Then, by maximizing the total network utility with constrains of minimizing collision probability, the optimal value of CW (Wopt) can be computed according to the number of sensor nodes. The new backoff algorithm uses the common optimal value Wopt and leads to fewer collisions than binary exponential backoff algorithm. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms standard 802.11 DCF and S-MAC in average collision times, packet delay, total energy consumption, and system throughput.展开更多

A lot of matters and knowledge need to be studied before the idea of deregulation can be implemented. Theoretically, it is said that deregulation can make a large impact to increase efficiency and encourage the competitiveness among related parties. However, to implement the concept of deregulation to electric power supply is very tough challenge. In deregulation environment, regardless of market structure, to know the transmission usage allocation is vital and very a complex problem. Thus, a lot of algorithms have been proposed to overcome it. This paper intends to solve the transmission usage allocation problem using optimization approach. The optimization tool that will be utilized is Genetic Algorithm (GA). GA is probabilistic search technique that has its roots in the principle of genetics and strives for survival. In addition, GA is very robust. Since the nonlinear nature of power flow, it is expected that GA can give optimize results that equitable and acceptable. In this paper, 4-bus and Klos-Kerner 11-bus systems are used for analysis studies. Comparison with other method is also given in this paper.展开更多

A coordinating controller, responsible to distribute the total load power request among multiple DG units, is suggested based on the conception of hierarchical control structure in the dynamic system. The optimal control problem was formulated as a nonlinear optimization problem subject to set of constraints. The resulting problem was solved using the Kuhn-Tucker method. Computer simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method can provide better efficiency in terms of reducing total costs compared to existing methods. In addition, the proposed optimal load distribution strategy can be easily implemented in real-time thanks to the simplicity of closed-form solutions.展开更多
