A novel configuration performance prediction approach with combination of principal component analysis(PCA) and support vector machine(SVM) was proposed.This method can estimate the performance parameter values of a n...A novel configuration performance prediction approach with combination of principal component analysis(PCA) and support vector machine(SVM) was proposed.This method can estimate the performance parameter values of a newly configured product through soft computing technique instead of practical test experiments,which helps to evaluate whether or not the product variant can satisfy the customers' individual requirements.The PCA technique was used to reduce and orthogonalize the module parameters that affect the product performance.Then,these extracted features were used as new input variables in SVM model to mine knowledge from the limited existing product data.The performance values of a newly configured product can be predicted by means of the trained SVM models.This PCA-SVM method can ensure that the performance prediction is executed rapidly and accurately,even under the small sample conditions.The applicability of the proposed method was verified on a family of plate electrostatic precipitators.展开更多

Initial geometries of the clusters of neutral and zwitterionic glycine with 1-...Density functional theory (DFT) calculations are reported for the structures of neutral and zwitterionic glycine-(CHaOH)n where n=1-6. Initial geometries of the clusters of neutral and zwitterionic glycine with 1-6 methanol molecules are fully optimized at B3LYP/6-31+G^* level of theory. The lowest energy configurations are located and their hydrogen bond structures are analyzed. Theoretical prediction reveals that the methanols prefer to locate near the carboxylic acid group for the small clusters (n_〈3) with the neutral form while the configurations with the methanols bridging the acid and the amino group are favorite in the zwitterionic form clusters. When the number of the methanol molecules in the clusters reaches five and six, the two forms tend to be isoenergetic.展开更多
In order to accurately predict the productivity of herringbone multilateral well,a new productivity prediction model was founded.And based on this model,orthogonal test and multiple factor variance analysis were appli...In order to accurately predict the productivity of herringbone multilateral well,a new productivity prediction model was founded.And based on this model,orthogonal test and multiple factor variance analysis were applied to study optimization design of herringbone multilateral well.According to the characteristics of herringbone multilateral well,by using pressure superposition and mirror image reflection theory,the coupled model of herringbone multilateral well was developed on the basis of a three-dimensional pseudo-pressure distribution model for horizontal wells.The model was formulated in consideration of friction loss,acceleration loss of the wellbore and mixed loss at the confluence of main wellbore and branched one.After mathematical simulation on productivity of the herringbone multilateral well with the coupled model,the effects of well configuration on productivity were analyzed.The results show that lateral number is the most important factor,length of main wellbore and length of branched wellbore are the secondary ones,angle between main and branched one has the least influence.展开更多

The developed model is validated with the experimental results of Nielsen who tested the isothermal flow in a scaled model of a ventilated room. A zonal method is used to predict airflow patterns in the same ventilated room. The different equations governing the flow in the room were coded in Matlab for different operating conditions, different zonal configurations of the room and different number of cells (control volumes). The efficiency of the ventilation was determined by calculating the number of ACH (air changes per hour) for each cell. The present results show the importance of the inlet air flow rate, the space resolution and the jet inlet dimensions on the determination of air quality.展开更多

By using a Corbino-shape like electrode configuration, we measure the c-axis resistivity of the recently discovered superconductor SrxBi2Se3 with the magnetic field rotating within the basal planes, and find clear evidence of two-fold superconductivity. The Lane diffraction measurements on these samples show that the maximum gap direction is either parallel or perpendicular to the main crystallographic axis. This observation is consistent with the theoretical prediction and strongly suggests that SrxBi2Se3 is a topological superconductor.展开更多

This alg...Based on the work of previous researchers, a new unbiased optimization algorithm—the dynamic lattice searching method with two-phase local search and interior operation (DLS-TPIO)—is proposed in this paper. This algorithm is applied to the optimization of Lennard-Jones (LJ) clusters with N=2–650, 660, and 665–680. For each case, the putative global minimum reported in the Cambridge Cluster Database (CCD) is successfully found. Furthermore, for LJ533 and LJ536, the potential energies obtained in this study are superior to the previous best results. In DLS-TPIO, a combination of the interior operation, two-phase local search method and dynamic lattice searching method is adopted. At the initial stage of the optimization, the interior operation reduces the energy of the cluster, and gradually makes the configuration ordered by moving some surface atoms with high potential energy to the interior of the cluster. Meanwhile, the two-phase local search method guides the search to the more promising region of the configuration space. In this way the success rate of the algorithm is significantly increased. At the final stage of the optimization, in order to decrease energy of the cluster further, the positions of surface atoms are further optimized by using the dynamic lattice searching method. In addition, a simple new method to identify the central atom of icosahedral configurations is also presented. DLS-TPIO has higher computing speed and success rates than some well-known unbiased optimization methods in the literature.展开更多
