[Method] CRANPF and conventional anti-drip PE film (CLAPF) were compared in terms of air temperature, light intensity and CO2 concentration by the leafy agriculture greenhouse intelligent monitoring system. [Result] Compared to CLAPF, the air temperature rose slower in CRANPF during hot weather and had better photosynthesis efficiency. [Conclusion] Compared with ODLAPF, CRANPF has better perfor- mance and more extensive application prospects.展开更多

It was found that by applying a combined diluted fuel and oxidant instead of their uncombined and/or undiluted states, the best condition is obtained for the establishment of HPDAC's main unique features. These features are low mean and maximum gas temperature and high radiation/total heat transfer to gas and tubes; as well as more uniformity of theirs distributions which results in decrease in NOx pollutant formation and increase in furnace efficiency or energy saving. Moreover, a variety of chemical flame shape, the process fluid and tubes walls temperatures profiles, the required regenerator efficiency and finally the concentration and velocity patterns have been also qualitatively/quantitatively studied.展开更多

METHODS: A diabetic mouse model was established by intraperitoneal (ip) injection of alloxan. Diabetic mice were injected ip with ghrelin or GHRP-6 (20-200 μg/kg), and the effects on gastric emptying were measured after intragastric application of phenol red. The effect of atropine, NG-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester hydrochloride (L-NAME) or D-Lys3-GHRP-6 (a growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R) antagonist) on the gastroprokinetic effect of ghrelin or GHRP-6 (100 μg/kg) was also investigated. The effects of ghrelin or GHRP-6 (0.01-10 μmol/L) on spontaneous or carbachol-induced contractile amplitude were also investigated in vitro, in gastric fundic circular strips taken from diabetic mice. The presence of growth hormone secretagogue receptor 1a transcripts in the fundic strips of diabetic mice was detected by reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). RESULTS: We established a diabetic mouse model with delayed gastric emptying. Ghrelin and GHRP-6 accelerated gastric emptying in diabetic mice with gastroparesis. In the presence of atropine or L-NAME, which delayed gastric emptying, ghrelin and GHRP-6 (100 μg/kg) failed to accelerate gastric emptying. D-Lys3-GHRP-6 also delayed gastric emptying induced by the GHS-R agonist. Ghrelin and GHRP-6 increased the carbachol-induced contractile amplitude in gastric fundicstrips taken from diabetic mice. RT-PCR confirmed the presence of GHS-R mRNA in the strip preparations. CONCLUSION: Ghrelin and GHRP-6 increase gastric emptying in diabetic mice with gastroparesis, perhaps by activating peripheral cholinergic pathways in the enteric nervous system.展开更多

One faces at least three basic problems of genuine biological autonomy: (1) if biological autonomy is not physical, where does it come from? (2) Is there a room for biological causes? And (3) how to obtain a workable model of biological teleology? It is shown here that the solution of all these three problems is related to the quantum vacuum. We present a short review of how this basic aspect of the fundamentals of quantum theory, although it had not been addressed for nearly 100 years, actually it was suggested by Bohr, Heisenberg, and others. Realizing that the quantum mechanical measurement problem associated with the "collapse" of the wave function is related, in the Copenhagen Interpretation of quantum mechanics, to a process between self-consciousness and the external physical environment, we are extending the issue for an explanation of the different processes occurring between living organisms and their internal environment. Definitions of genuine biological autonomy, biological aim, and biological spontaneity are presented. We propose to improve the popular two-stage model of decisions with a biological model suitable to obtain a deeper look at the nature of the mind-body problem. In the newly emerging picture biological autonomy emerges as a new, fundamental and inevitable element of the scientific worldview.展开更多

Di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP), dioctyl phthalate (DOP), and the mixed solvent were used as diluents. The effect of α (DOP mass fraction in diluent) on the morphology and performance of the hollow fiber was investigated. With increasing α, the morphology of the resulting hollow fiber changes from typical cellular structure to mixed structure, and then to typical particulate structure. As a result, the permeability of the hollow fiber increases sharply, and the mechanical properties of the hollow fiber decrease obviously. It is suggested that the morphology and performances of iPP hollow fiber microporous membrane can be controlled via adjusting the compatibility between iPP and diluent.展开更多

Especially, this research focused on the internet's space and time perception based on communication genres such as e-mail, Blogs, portals, news-media, e-commerce, and social media (SNS). The research adopted two theories (construal level theory of time and space). The time related theory is "temporal distance theory". The space related theory is "media space". The research is designed to measure user's perception of interactivity, time-construal level and its media space cognition while using the media. There are two independent variables: Interactivities (contents, user, and media levels) and user involvement (CMC-user vs. user, HCI-user vs. media); there are two dependent variables: Cognition of spatial and temporal levels. This research also seeks the associated variables relationship among those variables through the structural equation model (SEM). The 307 data was collected and analyzed to test the research question. The results show that the dimension of the media side's interactivity affected media's usage time and space perception. There are 2 ~ 2 factors variables to affect time and space. One is human and media interaction (HC1) and human to human communication (CMC); the other is traditional mass media (one-way communication) and interuet media (two-ways communication). The results prove the user's perception for media time and space is based on the levels of interactivity. The levels of interactivities depend on media usage: one-one, one-many, synchronous, asynchronous, interpersonal, and social network communication. Online media provides greater social space; while traditional media tends toward para-space perception. On the other hand, the users' time cognitions between online media are different such as fixed time versus cyber-time.展开更多
