Advanced driver-assistance systems such as Honda’s collision mitigation brake system(CMBS)can help achieve traffic safety.In this paper,the naturalistic driving study and a series of simulations are combined to bette...Advanced driver-assistance systems such as Honda’s collision mitigation brake system(CMBS)can help achieve traffic safety.In this paper,the naturalistic driving study and a series of simulations are combined to better evaluate the performance of the CMBS in the Chinese traffic environment.First,because safety-critical situations can be diverse especially in the Chinese environment,the Chinese traffic-accident characteristics are analyzed according to accident statistics over the past 17 years.Next,10 Chinese traffic-accident scenarios accounting for more than 80%of traffic accidents are selected.For each typical scenario,353 representative cases are collected from the traffic-management department of Beijing.These real-world accident cases are then reconstructed by the traffic-accident-reconstruction software PC-Crash on the basis of accident-scene diagrams.This study also proposes a systematic analytical process for estimating the effectiveness of the technology using the co-simulation platform of PC-Crash and rateEFFECT,in which 176 simulations are analyzed in detail to assess the accident-avoidance performance of the CMBS.The overall collision-avoidance effectiveness reaches 82.4%,showing that the proposed approach is efficient for avoiding collisions,thereby enhancing traffic safety and improving traffic management.展开更多

The coupler is fundamental for a coupled model to realize complex interactions among component models.This paper focuses on the coupling process of Wave-Circulation(W-C) coupled model which consists of MASNUM(key labo...The coupler is fundamental for a coupled model to realize complex interactions among component models.This paper focuses on the coupling process of Wave-Circulation(W-C) coupled model which consists of MASNUM(key laboratory of marine science and numerical modeling wave model)and POM(Princeton Ocean Model).The current coupling module of this coupled model is based on the inefficient I/O file,which has already become a performance bottleneck especially when the coupled model utilizes a large number of processes.To improve the performance of the W-C model,a flexible coupling module based on the model coupling toolkit(MCT) is designed and implemented to replace the current I/O file coupling module in the coupled model.Empirical studies that we have carried out demonstrate that our online coupling module can dramatically improve the parallel performance of the coupled model.The online coupling module outperforms the I/O file coupling module.When processes increase to 96,the whole process of EXP-C takes only 695.8 seconds,which is only 58.8%of the execution time of EXP-F.Based on our experiments under 2D Parallel Decomposition(2DPD),we suggest setting parallel decomposition strategies automatically to component models in order to achieve high parallel efficiency.展开更多

The service conditions of shield machine are extremely complex. The driving interface load fluctuation caused by geological environment changes and multi field coupling of stress field may lead into imbalance of redundant drive motors output torque in main driving system. Therefore, the shield machine driving synchronous control is one of the key technologies of shield machine. This paper is in view of the shield machine main driving synchronous control, achieving the system's adaptive load sharing. From the point of view of cutterhead load changes, nonlinear factors of mechanical transmission mechanism and the control system synchronization performance, the authors analyze the load sharing performance of shield machine main drive system in the event of load mutation. The paper proposes a data-driven synchronized control method applicable to the main drive system. The effectiveness of the method is verified through simulation and experimental methods. The new method can make the system synchronization error greatly reduced, thus it can effectively adapt to load mutation, and reduce shaft broken accident.展开更多
Background:Interpersonal coordination is an essential aspect of daily life,and crucial to performance in cooperative and competitive team sports.While empirical research has investigated interpersonal coordination usi...Background:Interpersonal coordination is an essential aspect of daily life,and crucial to performance in cooperative and competitive team sports.While empirical research has investigated interpersonal coordination using a wide variety of analytical tools and frameworks,to date very few studies have employed multifractal techniques to study the nature of interpersonal coordination across multiple spatiotemporal scales.In the present study we address this gap.Methods:We investigated the dynamics of a simple dyadic interpersonal coordination task where each participant manually controlled a virtual object in relation to that of his or her partner.We tested whether the resulting hand-movement time series exhibits multi-scale properties and whether those properties are associated with successful performance.Results:Using the formalism of multifractals,we show that the performance on the coordination task is strongly multi-scale,and that the multi-scale properties appear to arise from interaction-dominant dynamics.Further,we find that the measure of across-scale interactions,multifractal spectrum width,predicts successful performance at the level of the dyad.Conclusion:The results are discussed with respect to the implications of multifractals and interaction-dominance for understanding control in an interpersonal context.展开更多

METHODS: Three types of mandibular distractors were used in eight patients with various mandibular defects due to tumor or cyst resection. The average age of the patients was 31.5 years old (ages ranged from 8 to 54 years). For two patients with ramus defects, specially designed distractors were used to restore the normal ramus height. In two other patients, specially designed trifocal distractors were used. In three patients, vertical distractors were used. RESULTS: All the mandibles were successfully reconstructed in accordance with the direction and distance designed before operation except in one patient. In that patient the distal 23 mm defect failed to be corrected because of loosening of transport block fixation screws. CONCLUSIONS: Mandibular defects can be successfully corrected using internal distraction osteogenesis. Performing mandibular reconstruction using distraction osteogenesis is best done at the time of tumor or cyst resection.展开更多

Multiplicative Algebraic Reconstruction Technique(MART) algorithm was adopted for data reconstruction. The data obtained in an experiment for the measurement of temperature and concentration fields of gas flows were used. The measurement theory is based upon the Beer-Lambert law, and the measurement system consists of a tunable laser, collimators, detectors, and an analyzer. Methane was used as a fuel for combustion with air in the Bunsen-type burner. The data used for the reconstruction are from the optical signals of 8-laser beams passed on a cross-section of the methane flame. The performances of MART algorithm in data reconstruction were validated and compared with those obtained by Algebraic Reconstruction Technique(ART) algorithm.展开更多
