Deposition of diamond inside the trenches or microchannels by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is limited by the diffusion efficiency of important radical species for diamond growth (H, CH3) and the pore depth of the substrate template. By ultrasonic seeding with nanodiamond suspension, three-dimensional (3D) penetration structure diamond was successfully deposited in cylindrical microchannels of Cu template by hot-filament chemical vapor deposition. Micro-Raman spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to characterize diamond film and the effects of microchannel depth on the morphology, grain size and growth rate of diamond film were comprehensively investigated. The results show that diamond quality and growth rate sharply decrease with the increase of the depth of cylindrical microchannel. Individual diamond grain develops gradually from faceted crystals into micrometer cluster, and finally to ballas-type nanocrystalline one. In order to modify the rapid decrease of diamond quality and growth rate, a new hot filament apparatus with a forced gas flow through Cu microchannels was designed. Furthermore, the growth of diamond film by new apparatus was compared with that without a forced gas flow, and the enhancement mechanism was discussed. 展开更多

A specific revised HFCVD apparatus and a novel process combining HFCVD and polishing technique were presented to deposit the micro-and nano-crystalline multilayered ultra-smooth diamond(USCD) film on the interior-hole surface of WC-Co drawing dies with aperture ranging from d1.0 mm to 60 mm.Characterization results indicate that the surface roughness values(Ra) in the entry zone,drawing zone and bearing zone of as-fabricated USCD coated drawing die were measured as low as 25.7,23.3 and 25.5 nm,respectively.Furthermore,the friction properties of USCD films were examined in both dry sliding and water-lubricating conditions,and the results show that the USCD film presents much superior friction properties.Its friction coefficients against ball-bearing steel,copper and silicon nitride balls(d4 mm),is always lower than that of microcrystalline diamond(MCD) or WC-Co sample,regardless of the lubricating condition.Meanwhile,it still presents competitive wear resistance with the MCD films.Finally,the working lifetime and performance of as-fabricated USCD coated drawing dies were examined under producing low-carbon steel pipes in dry-sliding and water-lubricating conditions.Under the water-lubricating drawing condition,its production significantly increases by about 20 times compared with the conventional WC-Co drawing dies. 展开更多

It is difficult to determine the optimal weight on bit (WOB) of the double-driven bottomhole assembly (DD-BHA, with double stabilizers and a bent housing positive displacement motor (PDM)) which is employed during vertical and fast drilling. High WOB leads to well deviation out of control, and low WOB leads to low rate of penetration (ROP). So considering the rock physical properties, the anisotropy index function of polycrystalline diamond compact (PDC) bit was derived with the structure and cutting performance parameters of the bit, and the effect of natural hole deviation tendencies on the performance of DD-BHA resisting deviation was represented. The concept of elliptic deformation ratio was used to characterize the performance of DD-BHA resisting deviation. Eventually, a model calculating the critical WOB was established. By comparing the model predictions with the measured hole angle changes in the field, the results show that the model predictions are accurate with error less than 5.8%, which can meet the operational requirements in the projects. Furthermore, the model was adopted to justify and guide the operating conditions and parameters during drilling, which shows that the optimum WOB predicted by the model can not only control deviation but also improve ROP effectively. The model is independent on the formation characteristics of blocks, so it can be expanded widely to other oilfields. 展开更多

Nano/microcrystalline composite diamond films were deposited on the holes of WC-6%Co drawing dies by a two-step procedure using alternative carbon sources, i.e., methane for the microcrystalline diamond(MCD) layer and acetone for the nanocrystalline diamond(NCD) layer. Moreover, the monolayer methane-MCD and acetone-NCD coated drawing dies were fabricated as comparisons. The adhesion and wear rates of the diamond coated drawing dies were also tested by an inner hole polishing apparatus. Compared with mono-layer diamond coated drawing die, the composite diamond coated one exhibits better comprehensive performance, including higher adhesive strength and better wear resistance than the NCD one, and smoother surface(Ra=65.3 nm) than the MCD one(Ra=95.6 nm) after polishing at the same time. Compared with the NCD coated drawing die, the working lifetime of the composite diamond coated one is increased by nearly 20 times. 展开更多

Symmetry analysis of the vibrational modes of bct C4 at Brillouin zone center is performed, Raman and infrared active modes are identified. The analysis results show that, different from cubic diamond and hexagonal diamond, there is an infrared active mode in bct C4. Based on first-principle method within the local density approximation, vibrational frequencies, Born effective charge tensors, and infrared absorption intensity of bct C4 are obtained. The failure behavior of diamond-coated die was investigated experimentally and analytically through finite element method (FEM) simulation in the present work. Diamond coatings were fabricated by straight hot filament chemical vapor deposition (CVD) passing through the interior hole of the drawing die using a mixture of hydrogen and acetone as source gases. The performance tests were made under real drawing condition. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used for the study of coating wear after die service. The coating wear appears on two regions of the reduction zone: one is near the entrance where the contact begins, and the other is at the end of the reduction zone. FEM simulation was made for calculating the von Mises stresses distribution on the coating and substrate during the drawing process. The present work was of great practical significance for the improvement of drawing performance of diamond-coated drawing dies. 展开更多

Numerical simulation and experimental study of the Vickers indentation testing of the Al2O3 ceramic coated by diamond-like carbon(DLC) layer were conducted.The numerical analysis was implemented by a two-dimensional finite element(FE) axis symmetry model.FE analysis results gave insight into the fracture mechanism of DLC films coated on brittle ceramic(Al2O3) substrates.The maximum principal stress field was used to locate the most expected area for crack formation and propagation during the Vickers indentation testing.The results show that the median crack initiates in the interface under indenter,before ring crack occurs as the indenter presses down.Finally,the plastic deformation appears when the indenter penetrates into the substrate.The thicker DLC coating increases the Vickers hardness and fracture toughness. 展开更多

The notion of broken k-diamond partitions was introduced by Andrews and Paule.Let△k(n)denote the number of broken k-diamond partitions of n.Andrews and Paule also posed three conjectures on the congruences of△2(n)modulo 2,5 and 25.Hirschhorn and Sellers proved the conjectures for modulo 2,and Chan proved the two cases of modulo 5.For the case of modulo 3,Radu and Sellers obtained an infinite family of congruences for△2(n).In this paper,we obtain two infinite families of congruences for△2(n)modulo 3 based on a formula of Radu and Sellers,a 3-dissection formula of the generating function of triangular number due to Berndt,and the properties of the U-operator,the V-operator,the Hecke operator and the Hecke eigenform.For example,we find that△2(243n+142)≡△2(243n+223)≡0(mod 3).The infinite family of Radu and Sellers and the two infinite families derived in this paper have two congruences in common,namely,△2(27n+16)≡△2(27n+25)≡0(mod 3). 展开更多
