Three gate-oxide layers embedded...We propose and analyze a novel Si-based electro-optic modulator with an improved metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) capacitor configuration integrated into silicon-on-insulator (SOl). Three gate-oxide layers embedded in the silicon waveguide constitute a triple MOS capacitor structure, which boosts the modulation efficiency compared with a single MOS capacitor. The simulation results demonstrate that the Vπ Lπ product is 2. 4V · cm. The rise time and fall time of the proposed device are calculated to be 80 and 40ps from the transient response curve, respectively,indicating a bandwidth of 8GHz. The phase shift efficiency and bandwidth can be enhanced by rib width scaling.展开更多
Response of biosensor prepared with the thermostable bacterial LDH enzyme was analyzed in the presence of mercury and nickel.For electrode preparation,the enzyme was purified and immobilized on a gold sheet coated by ...Response of biosensor prepared with the thermostable bacterial LDH enzyme was analyzed in the presence of mercury and nickel.For electrode preparation,the enzyme was purified and immobilized on a gold sheet coated by PGA-pyrrole polymeric material.The working electrode was tested at increasing concentration of lactate in the presence of two different concentrations of mercury and nickel.Current response of biosensor decreased from 0.32 μA to 0.09 μA and 4.13 μA to 2.63 μA when 25×10-7 mmol/L mercury and 17×10-5 mmol/L nickel were included in the working solution,respectively.Sensitivity of the electrode decreased from 0.010 2 μA/(mmol·L-1) to 0.0043 μA/(mmol·L-1) in the presence of 25×10-7 mmol/L mercury.On the other hand,the presence of nickel did not result in a decrease in electrode sensitivity.The results pointed out that the prepared biosensor is useful to detect mercury in a sample containing both mercury and nickel together.展开更多

Specifically, it shows readers: that when Don Quixote's characters inherit peace transpires but when they are extorted gore happens; that a modem salary causes peace in Don Quixote while a feudal Mercedes causes conflict; that when contracts are honored Don Quixote's characters are calm but when contracts are breached its' characters are violent; that figures in Don Quixote who work for a living are tranquil while those who do not work fight; that peaceful capitalism in Don Quixote is separate from, and better than, violent corsair anti-capitalism; thatCapitalism's profit motive does not cause slavery in Don Quixote but feudal suppression of human fi'eedom does; that peaceful economic justice is adjudicated by civil judges, such as Sancho Panza, while bloody economic injustice is inflicted by either vigilantes (in Don Quixote's Case) or monarchical brutality (in the Holy Brotherhood's case); and penultimately, that when the novel's financial disputes are decided by law courts peace ensues but when they are not violence happens.Finally, this article fmishes, by enumerating specific areas of future research on capitalism in Don Quixote. With two G...This paper presents an up-conversion mixer for 2.4GHz wireless sensor networks in 0. 181xm RF complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) technology. It is based on a double-balanced Gilbert cell type. With two Gilbert cells it was applied quadrature modulation. Operational ampli- tiers are used in this design to improve the conversion gain under low power consumption. The mixer design is based on 0.18txm RF CMOS process. And the mixer test results indicate that under 1.8V power supply, with input frequency 2.4 - 2.4835GHz, the conversion voltage gain is 1.2 - 2dB. When the output frequency is 2.4GHz, its power gain is -4.46dB, and its input referred 1 dB com- pression point is -11.5dBm and it consumes 1.77mA current.展开更多
In this paper,we report a high-performance selfsupported supercapacitor electrode composed of a cracked bark-shaped Ni-Co-Mn ternary metallic sulfide(NiCoMnS4)nanostructure on carbon cloth prepared by a simple one-ste...In this paper,we report a high-performance selfsupported supercapacitor electrode composed of a cracked bark-shaped Ni-Co-Mn ternary metallic sulfide(NiCoMnS4)nanostructure on carbon cloth prepared by a simple one-step hydrothermal process and subsequent electrochemical treatment.The electrode delivers a high specific discharge capacity of up to 2470.4 F g^(-1) at 1 A g^(-1) and high rate performances of1635.6 F g^(-1) at 10 A g^(-1) and 910.2 F g^(-1) even at 32 A g^(-1).Cycling tests indicate that NiCoMnS_(4) could maintain >91.1% of its initial capacity and nearly 100% Coulombic efficiency over10,000 cycles at 8 A g^(-1).An aqueous asymmetric supercapacitor assembled with NiCoMnS_(4) as the cathode,activated carbon as the anode,and 1 mol L^(-1) KOH as the electrolyte delivers an energy density of 68.2 W h kg^(-1)at 850.1 W kg^(-1) and capacity retention of 92.5% after 10,000 cycles at 4 A g^(-1).Given the excellent performance and simple material preparation of our proposed device,this study provides a valuable foundation for the development of self-supported metallic sulfide-based electrodes with high electrochemical properties for potential application in aqueous asymmetric supercapacitors.展开更多
