Methods: Twenty-five patients with idiopathic Parkinson disease with unilateral symptoms (IPDUS) and 25 healthy volunteers were enrolled in this study. MRS of the lentiform nucleus in each patient was taken and then concentrations of N-acetylaspartate (NAA), Creatine (Cr) and Choline (Cho) were calculated. Results: Compared to that in the control, NAA/ (Cho+Cr) was significantly lower in the lentiform nucleus contralateral to symptoms and even that in the ipsilateral side in IPDUS patients (all P<0.05); while there was no difference between the two sides in the healthy volunteer (P>0.05). The ratio of NAA/(Cho+Cr) ipsilateral to the sympatomatic side of the patient was also lower than that of the control (P<0.05). Conclusions: there might be some changes with MRS on the lentiform nucleus during the early stage of idiopathic Parkinson抯 disease with unilateral symptom. MRS may be one of the reliable methods for early or even sub-clinical diagnosis.展开更多

Apart from experimental validation of the performance of the system, various micro-V-grooves cutting experiments on aluminum alloy, ferrous material and hard cutting material were performed, in which Kistler force sensor was used to measure cutting force. Through experiments, it was clear that the vibration-assisted micro-engraving system can ensure good quality of micro-V-grooves and reduce cutting force by about 60% compared with traditional removal process without ultrasonic vibration.展开更多

The filter exhibits two typical band-stop response characteristics depending on the incident direction of electric field with respect to the T-shaped resonator. When the long and the short arms of the T-shaped resonator were electrically polarized by changing the incident THz wave transmission directions, the corresponding central frequencies of the band-stop filter were found to be 0.436 THz at 42dB and 0.610 THz at 28 dB, respectively. Using three-dimensional (3D) finite-integral time-domain simulations, the band-stop filter was designed, which can operate in the wavelength between 0.2 and 0.8 THz. Experimental verification was also performed using a free space THz time-domain spectroscopy system. The band-stop response characteristics are in good agreement with the simulation results. The interesting THz band-stop filtering properties suggest a promising application in the modern THz communication systems, THz time-domain spectroscopic imaging and THz continuous wave imaging.展开更多

The resistivity, susceptibility and specific heat measurements show a phase transition at approxi- mately 114 K (TA). No splitting or broadening in the central line of 23Na NMR spectra is observed below and above the transi- tion temperature indicating no internal field being detected. The spin-lattice relaxation rate divided by T (I/T1T) shows a sharp drop at about 110 K which suggests a gap opening behavior. Below the phase transition temperature zone, I/T1T shows Fermi liquid behavior but with much smaller value indicating the loss of large part of electronic density of states (DOS) because of the gap. No signature of the enhancement of spin fluctuations or magnetic order is found with the decreasing temperature. These results suggest a commensurate charge-density-wave (CDW) phase transition occurring.展开更多
