Methods Seventy-five cases were randomized into 3 groups. Of which, in the combined therapy group of moxibustion and medicine (22 cases), the pricking moxibustion and routine western medicine treatment were provided in combination; in the Chinese herbal medicine group (29 cases), oral administration of Chinese herbal medicine and routine western medicine treatment were provided; in the western medicine group (24 cases), routine western medicine treatment was provided. After 7 days treatment, the therapeutic effects of 3 groups were judged by comparisons of skin rush, oral mucosa herpes, constipation (or loose stools), indigestion and anorexia, and sore throat. Results The total effective rate was 95.5% in combined therapy group of moxibustion and medicine, 86.2% in Chinese herbal medicine group, 83.3% in western medicine group. The total effective rate in combined therapy group was superior to that in either Chinese herbal medicine group or western medicine group (both P〈0.05). Comparing the fading durations of skin rush, oral mucosa herpes, constipation (or loose stools), indigestion and anorexia between combined therapy group and other two groups, significant differences were presented statistically (both P〈0. 05). Conclusion In the combined therapy group of moxibustion and medicine, the symptoms of alimentary canal were relieved, the disease courses were shortened and the pains were reduced in hand-foot-mouth disease patients. 展开更多

Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of moxibustion plus Mecobalamin in treating diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Methods: Eighty subjects were equally allocated into combination and control groups. On the basis of the same basic treatment, the combination group was treated by moxibustion plus Mecobalamin and the control group simply by Mecobalamin. Treatment lasted 3 months. Nerve conduction velocity and symptom severity were compared between pre-treatment and post-treatment. Results: Nerve conduction velocity was improved in both combination and control groups and more obviously in the combination group. The marked effective rate, effective rate and ineffective rate were respectively 52.5%, 32.5% and 15.0% in the combination group and 35.0%, 27.5% and 37.5% in the control group. There were statistically significant differences between the two groups (P〈0.01 or P〈0.05). Conclusion: Based on a basic treatment, moxibustion plus Mecobalamin is superior to simple Mecobalamin in treating diabetic peripheral neuropathy. 展开更多

Acupuncture therapy has a good effect for LUFS. In order to understand the clinical effects and research situation of acupuncture therapy for LUFS, the author analyzed and reviewed the relevant literature. It was indicated by the findings that acupuncture therapy and integrative therapy of acupuncture and Chinese herbs have good therapeutic effect for this disease. Acupuncture therapy has the effect to promote ovulation. By the therapeutic principle to tonify the kidney and circulate blood, acupuncture therapy mostly was adopted in the period of ovulation. The acupoints are mostly selected from the lower abdomen and lower limbs, possibly based upon syndrome differentiation at the same time. The needling techniques are of certain characteristics. But, the issues of low quality, un-standardized inclusive, exclusive criteria and effective criteria still exist in the current clinical study. 展开更多

Combined use of acupuncture and drug is extensively applied for its wide indications, simple manipulation and good results. Combined use of acupuncture and drug is not in effect the mechanic addition of acupuncture and drugs. It has been proved that acupuncture and drug are of synergism, but there may be an antagonism between acupuncture and drug. How to choose the optimum acupoint in the combination of acupuncture and drug to exert better effects is of great theoretical and practical significance for acupuncturists to make further researches. 展开更多

Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy and quality of life of combined warming needle and patented Chinese medicine for patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) due to liver-qi stagnation with spleen deficiency. Method: Sixty IBS cases were randomized into a treatment or control group by single-blind method. Warming needles on Tianshu (ST 25) and Dachangshu (BL 25) combined with patented Chinese medicine were adopted for cases in the treatment group, whereas the patented Chinese medicine alone was adopted in the control group. Results: The therapeutic efficacies in the two groups did not show substantial differences. The main symptoms were significantly improved after the treatment (P〈0.01). After 2 weeks of treatment, the cases in the treatment group obtained a better improvement than the control group (P〈0.01, P〈0.05) in the severity or frequency of abdominal pain, abdominal distension, restlessness, insomnia, anxiety, suspiciousness, and loose stools with a sense of incomplete emptying. The patient's quality of life was improved in both groups (P〈0.01). Conclusion: Both treatment methods could improve the clinical symptoms and increase the patient's quality of life. The total effective rate in the treatment group was slightly higher than the control group. Also, the combined warming needle and Chinese herbs could improve the main symptoms in a faster way. 展开更多
